Martin Crawford
and a few friends invited Dennis and Rene Greig to assist them in the realisation of a couple of arts projects out of which Lapwing Publications emerged.
Damian Quinn
from Omagh, was one of the first two poets to approach Lapwing about publication a few years after the first project work, Janet Shepperson's 'Ring with a Black Stone' was produced. Damian Quinn's pamphlet is 'The Drowning Pool'.
Margaret Dunlop
wrote autobiographical short stories about schooldays in and around Dromore. Her husband and daughter have asked Lapwing to consider publishing more of Margaret's work. Her book is entitled 'Water for Tea'.
Carmen Gray
was originally from Gibralter where her father was a musician and her older sister ran a school. Carmen composed at the piano and set some of her own works to music. Her collection, 'Not Riches Fine' is in the Book of Hours tradition of meditative and devotional poems.
Sidney Bernard Smith
was a well known actor, playwright, poet and critic who toured his one-man theatre pieces. Lapwing published Smith's biting satire 'The Immodest Proposal' which is a masterpiece of cultural and political satire modelled on Jonathan Swift's 'A Modest Proposal'.
Maurice Farley
Lapwing continues to observe the above lady's use of a nom de plume. Unfortunately, she was too ill to attend the launch of her work 'Before the Cattle Raid' in the Irish Writers' Centre and passed away soon after.
Robert Greacen
for many years Robert was the most senior Northern Irish poet. His work has been published widely and he was a well known reviewer for Books Ireland. Lapwing published 'The Only Emperor', 'Ecstacy' and 'Captain Fox - A Life'.
Jack Holland
A Belfast man, journalist, novelist and poet, Jack died in New York. Lapwing published his 'Sean Juan' satirical poem in two parts. The poem sustains its Byronic 'Don Juan' style and structure throughout.
James Simmons
another Ulster poet with a bite to his poetry. Simmons founded 'The Honest Ulsterman' which was radical for its time and most likely still valid in its concept today. James died after a prolonged period of illness, having moved to County Donegal. Lapwing published his 'Sex, Rectitude and Loneliness', a private tragic poem paralleled by public tragedies in Ulster.
Zlatko Tomicic
was President of the Croatian Parliament. He had been the victim of the previous regime, imprisoned, tortured and denied even his own identity. As a consequence of torture, Zlatko suffered for years and recently underwent surgery several times. Lapwing published a short pamphlet of his poems in 'Croatia My Love', translated by Des O'Grady.
