1.2 Rating System
We have adopted a new rating system to help better describe what our site is like to younger viewers or those who are more particular about the sort of RPGs they participate in. Our current max ratings are V : 2, S : 2, and L : 2.
L stands for Language. 0 - No objectionable or mature language permitted.
1 - Infrequent, mild swearing is permitted.
2 - Swearing is generally permitted. However, the language cannot be used to severely abuse.
S stands for Sexual Content.
0 - No sexual content, innuendo or references permitted.
1 - Mild Sexual innuendo and references permitted. No explicit representations or references to genitalia or sex acts.
2 - Sexual content is permitted. References and writing about genitalia and sex acts are permitted, but explicit detail is not.
V stands for Violence. 0 - No violence permitted.
1 - Mild violence is permitted. Explicit descriptions of gore is not allowed.
2 - Graphic violence is permitted. Explicit descriptions or in-game narration of violence is allowed.
While all of this is allowed inside of a post, we do not allow language, sexual content, or violence of any sort in subject lines or names.
You may NOT post a higher rating than what has been established in the first post. If no rating was established in the first post you must make an OOC comment asking permission to use a higher level of any of the categories
If you use language, sexual content or violence you must label it in the subject line of your post in the form of X-# (where X is L, S or V and # is 1 – 2, 0 rating does not need to be labeled).
1.3 The Disease
There are two strands of the disease
The Common strain has two different ‘expressions’, both of which are non-lethal on their own (most die of infection, promoted by the disease).
The Common strain is transferred via blood, saliva and bodily fluids
Carriers (Notated “d”) show no outward expression of the disease.
Symptomatic (Notated “D”) have physical symptoms of the disease, from peeling skin to looking almost skeletal, those with advanced physical symptoms usually die of infection.
The Super strain (DS) varies from nearly undetectable to almost skeletal, it is lethal.
There is no immunity to the Super strain, all are at risk.
Super strain is transferred via blood, saliva and semen. Mares cannot pass the Super strain to stallions.
Equines can be pure or diseased. Canines are all diseased.
A random number generator (from 1 to 100) will be used in deciding if a character becomes diseased when breeding, foaling or fighting.
Members who do not want their characters diseased should avoid low altitudes and diseased horses at all costs.
Visit this link for a breakdown of percentages and chances for various scenarios.
1.4 Joining
You cannot begin to play until you have filled out the joining form in its entirety..
You do NOT need to wait to be approved or accepted, but check back to make sure we didn’t leave you a note for a correction or request more information
You must provide your OOC name for EVERY character you join.
We recommend leaving a valid e-mail address in case we need to get a hold of you. We also send out monthly newsletters (which you can opt-out of when you join.
Please note that an undiseased character will likely become diseased during their time in the valley.
Immunity is only granted through contests or breeding, you cannot join as immune.
1.4.1 equines
Please put [Equine] in the subject of your joining post.
We use realistic coat color genetics, we do not require you to know any genetics.
Please keep height realistic to the breed mixture you have chosen.
Equines can either wander the common lands to be invited into a herd or can seek out a herd to join on their own.
1.4.2 canines
Please put [Canine] in the subject of your joining post.
Keep height realistic to the breed mixture you have chosen. [Max 36 inches at withers]
Canines must join as diseased.
Canines can either wander as loners or find other canines to pack with.
Long battles are judged based on a rubric that takes into account writing ability, realism of posts and puts little thought or effort into true statistics of the battle.
Characters must have had either first hand (meeting each other) or second hand (hearing about them from another equine/canine) interactions before challenging one another.
A Challenge issued when the opposing player is away will be deemed invalid.
The Challenger should declare the following:
What is being fought for
The word Maximum or Minimum
Setting
Location
Time of Day
Weather
The Challenged will then declare:
Counter-Challenge (if any)
Accept or Forfeit
Each battle will contain 5 posts per participant, total of 10 posts
Challenger Intro – cannot contain any attacks or dodges
Challenged Intro – cannot contain any attacks or dodges
Challenger Post 1 –contains up to 2 attacks, cannot contain any dodges
Challenged Post 1 – contains up to 2 attacks, contains up to 1 half-dodge
Challenger Post 2 – contains up to 2 attacks, contains up to 1 half-dodge
Challenged Post 2 – contains up to 2 attacks, contains up to 1 half-dodge
Challenger Post 3 – contains up to 2 attacks, contains up to 1 half-dodge
Challenged Post 3 – cannot contain any attacks, contains up to 1 half-dodge
Challenger Conclusion – cannot contain any attacks or dodges
Challenged Conclusion – cannot contain any attacks or dodges
If a battle goes inactive for 5 days after the challenge is posted, the last poster automatically wins.
Staff will judge the battle after all posts have been completed.
Fights are initiated in character on any role playing board. Once the fight is initiated members should post the location and participants on the confrontation board to notify mods of the fight.
Using a point system moderators will conclude the victor of the battle and will use a random number generator to declare any injuries. Players will then be able to play out the fight in character as long or as short at the participating players desire.
