It is with great sadness that I announce that after 57 years, the LCA has come to an end.
This decision comes after much consideration and soul-searching…and a lot of tears.
Running an association is not just a Sunday job, for me it has almost been 24/7, as I have always tried to provide the best in everything: venues, fair judging and standards. However, after being ill last year, I have been forced to reassess and I have found that I haven’t got the fight or the energy to carry on and maintain the high levels that LCA has always strived for.
The decision breaks my heart, as I can honestly say that some of the best times of my life are thanks to the LCA and some of my dearest friends have been made on the carnival field. I have many, many wonderful memories of glorious times gone by and I hope you too can look back and remember LCA with great fondness.
My dad was around when LCA began and after becoming the secretary himself, he handed that role to me. So you can see how this is at the very heart of me and my family.
I am so sorry to those of you who feel let down by this decision and I hope that you will come to understand why I have needed to do this. I would like to thank everyone who has supported LCA over the years for their loyalty and dedication and I wish you the very best of luck for the future.
On a practical note, the website will remain open to keep you informed about sale of the equipment etc and the guestbook will always be there for any news you wish to share.
Our Sundays will now be spent as spectators, supporting our morris, entertaining and majorette troupes, and I look forward to being able to sit back and enjoy without the usual worries.
Thank you again to everyone who has supported us over the years and always remember that I care and always will.
Rita
