My new book, "Chief Reelfoot" is centered around a beautiful lake formed by the 1811, 1812 earthquakes in Tennessee. Legend has it a Chickasaw Indian chief born with a club foot; fell in love with a Choctaw Indian princess by the name of Laughing Eyes. Her father would not allow him to marry his daughter, because he was a cripple. He kidnapped her and married her anyway. I have always wanted to read a love story about these two lovers but never found one to read. I wrote this story giving it a little twist. Our lake is a wonderful tourist attraction and people come from all over to visit. Some come for the excellent fishing, others the legend itself. Others come hoping to get a glimpse of a few relations of the famous Night Riders. I will assure you there are some still living here. Maybe some think they will hear the cries of Chief Reelfoot and Laughing Eyes as the angry waters created by the earthquakes swollowed them up. Some still say if the waters are rough one can still hear Chief Reelfoot and Laughing Eyes pledging their eternal love for each other.
