Winter
Enjoying the Views in our Countryside!
by Barbara* lawson
Winter wonders... on new years day while I was driving to the post office to get the much neglected mail from my post office box I came across an outstanding field and small pond that needed to be photographed. As you all in this county know, it was quite chilly in the area and jogging outside for very long just to take a photograph was a stretch for even me. So it had to be a very amazing photo. After two such shots, I decided to start taking pictures from the open window of my car to see what I could get. Then if the Chilly Wind whipped it’s fury...I could simply close the window. As I was taking pictures, I noticed that there were reflections of the scenes behind me in the rear view mirror (Dah ... that’s what it’s for right!) ... But look at the photo below for what I was able to see, and I started combining the photos together...to see what I could work into a complete image. I discovered that the collection of the rear view and the front and side views was more outstanding than just looking forward.
What a revelation on this first day of January 2008 as we all are looking forward to the future. Sometimes the collective view of the behind and the forward is the most outstanding of the day, and the year. I am grateful for this beautiful countryside to drive through on a sunny day, and I am grateful for all the days past and the wonderful people I have found on my way that have made this day possible! Hope you are having a good look forward and taking your blessings of the rear view of the past to combine with the future! God Speed and happy planning, and happy looking in ‘the round’ for 2008!I will definately Look back & forward from Now On!
Have you heard all the buzz about some changes taking place in our communities this next exciting new year blessing us with grace?
Well ... hold on to your hats, because we not only have gotten some rain for the drought (hurray!) but we are having the celebration of our lives here in Winston County with our 150th Sesquentennial Celebration, plus events in all the other North Alabama counties are increasing and tourism has definately found the many trails and treasures we have here in our forests!
Industry has taken a turn for the better with the new industrial park plans and jobs will be increasing due to automotive plants building in nearby states. Farmers are learning new techniques to fight the drought, plus we can see an increase in the number of equestrial ranches ... (there are some mighty fine quality horses on the beautiful hillsides along with those magnificent cattle).
Communities are sharing like never before. copyright 2008 Barbara* PictoWaves
