                          U.P. Champions list

What’s it Gonna Take to Win U.P.s?!

It’s that time again! The crown jewel of the Upper Peninsula is up for grabs. Like most years as editor of the ‘Woodpusher’ – I pose the question what will it take to win? Last year it took 3.5 points with the most luckiest tie-break victory in the history of our club! Yes, I was the fortunate benefactor of Lady Caissa edging out the 2005 champion Randy Peterson. This year it’s wide open as we have lots of strong players in the U.P. all close in strength. That’s why I like this tournament so much. On any given third weekend of August, you never know who will be the next U.P. Chess Champion!
