With samples dating  from as early as 500BC cross stitch is reported to be the oldest form of embroidery. Throughout the ages cross stitch designs have been created from many famous works of art, inspired by some of the most beautiful and stunning places our planet has to offer, and portraits of people both famous and unknown. Traditionally cross stitch charts have had to be designed by hand, a very laborious task (but well worth the effort for the final result). Today however we have technology to assist in the design of cross stitch charts.
