Akira, a short-tempered telephone company worker, Jennifer, an emotionally distant director, and their antisocial daughter Crystallina are a seemingly normal upper-class family living in the northwest, but they have a secret, and no matter how many times Crystallina comes home crying because of the little bastards at school, her parents will never answer questions about her peculiar anatomy or why her tears freeze as they roll down her face.

However, when Crystallina decides she'll run away to discover her new identity, she's in for more than she bargained, landing smack-dab in the middle of a cliche winter wonderland where a rumored ice demon monarchy is being seized by a dastardly man named Roger & His Dastardly Penis. What's more, a servant she has never met before seems to recognize her and think that her father is the godamned prince.

Before this problem can be solved calmly and rationally, she is kidnapped by Roger himself and finds that he's not such a bad guy. Or is he?

Crystal Palace 2 is a fascinating and clever parody, with everything that makes a Disney sequel; talking animals, random break-outs of song, parents that just don't understand, and antagonists that really suck at lying, but somehow can trick people.

Like all great Disney movies, this idea continues on forever. To continue the magic, check out these other great sequels in the works.

CP3: Crystallina & Her Electra Complex
CP4: Oh God!
(pending)
CP5: Akira's Suicide Attempt
CP6: The Return of Roger
CP7: The Anus Family
CP8: The Rock Opera

CP2 was written solely by me, but the idea and execution of that idea was a partnership between myself and friend Kate. In our later movies, CP3 and CP4 so far, we are both writers.

This all started with a fanfiction idea for Paper Mario (2001) about the secret world of the 'Crystal Palace', with original characters such as the Crystal Prince (Akira), his personal servant (Cosmo), and the Crystal Queen. For those of you that know nothing about it (which makes sense because the site is down), it was about Akira losing everything with the downfall of the monarchy, all based on his father's horrible decisions.

Throughout the years, Kate and I liked to talk about and poke fun at it a lot, and eventually I started using the characters and setting in parody for a comic involving Paper Mario that I drew as a sophomore in high school called The Adventures of Akira and Jennifer. I got to develop my ice prince (into an effeminate, near-sighted jerk), turn the two of us into a true partnership, and... somewhere along the lines, create our hybrid daughter who came to visit us "through a time machine". But soon, Crystallina was a character we really liked and wanted to toy with some more, and if we did that, it'd have to be in her own time, when Akira and I were adults and had obviously developed romantic feelings and later got married. Since future + daughter of original characters + adventure is usually the formula of Disney sequels, we thought it'd be funny to do something deservingly satirical of Disney since our beloved childhood favorites like Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid, and Cinderella had all been grabbed by the ankles and shook for every penny they were worth.

And so, we have Crystal Palace 2, which could be considered a spin-off of a spin-off, straying so far from what Paper Mario originally was, or even what my fanfiction "Crystal Palace" (the first) was supposed to be like. But... the very fact that this story is an epic sequel with no beginning  is what makes it funny to us. Most of this plot is not innovative. The father is royalty, the main character/daughter has to find out her connections, her new friends are a penguin and a polar bear, and the key to her identity and strength are within a piece of jewelry she has obliviously worn for years. But what we believe is creative is the cast's very acknowledgement that the plot doesn't make any sense, like everyone has the mind of an adult, but they subconsciously, and against their will, execute what bad children's animated movies are all about. And even in a senseless plot, the characters are poignant and blunt with themselves and others, antagonists as well as protagonists enthusiastically embody their cliche role, and everyone's behavior stretches sometimes quite a bit past the line of decency.

To make it abundantly clear, this was long ago shameless fanfiction of the 2001 N64 game "Paper Mario". The original Crystal Palace, Shiver Mountain, and Shiver City are places in this game. Because it's cliche, it might be very easy to sever ties, change these names (other than Crystal Palace. I mean that's pretty damn cliche, I think I'm safe), and alter some visual interpretations. But for the time being, it's not appropriate to call this entirely my creative property. The concepts I do own are the story (even within associated settings), the monarchy, Akira, the ellaborated versions of his mother and father (The Crystal King and Queen), Cosmo, myself (Jennifer), Crystallina, the Anus Family, the Storekeeper, Roseanne, Nick, Roger, and everything outside of the Shiver Region.

I also don't own Disney or aspire for this to become a Disney movie! It's completely separate and only parody (think Drawn Together) and as of now, it has no agenda of even becoming an animated movie. If it ever does, we'll cross the copyright bridges when we come to it.
