Shirley Circle were delighted when 96 friends joined them to help celebrate their 50th birthday in style!

National President Lynda, 3 members of the current National Exec, 3 Past Circle National Exec members, 2 Past Tangent National Officers, 9 Circles, 14 Tangents, 10 Past Area Chairmen and 23 Past Shirley Chairmen joined in the fun – so, when we played the song ‘Here Come The Girls’ – we really meant it!!
Shirley Circle currently enjoys a membership of 18, having inducted 12 members over the last two years, so we had many reasons to throw a party!
With a nod to the credit crunch, we combined the Area 4 Rally with our 50th Charter thus offering two events for the price of one!! And for those who were able to join us we hope they felt they got their money’s worth!!
Sylvia Harper, a Founder member, and our Membership Officer, Fiona Rooney, lit our Friendship Candle together and our celebration of 50 Golden Years of Friendship was truly ignited! (when we found the matches!!)
A walk down memory lane led by our very own Eamon Andrews (big thanks to Tim Brown of Shirley 41 Club) and his Red Book proved to be good fun and reminded many guests of some of the Shirley shenanigans over the last fun filled, fundraising , fifty years!
Thanks to the generous support of our guests, our Champagne and Chocolate raffle raised over £600 for Solihull Breast Friends - an amazing local charity.
A very big ‘Thankyou’ to everyone who celebrated with us – we couldn’t have done it without you!
