Fat Chance Fund Raiser

Saturday September 20th 2008 – Fat Chance at Curdworth Village Hall

What a night!! A fantastic night was had by all, at the Village Hall in Curdworth on 20th September. We were entertained by Fat Chance comedy band, who were amazing.  I am still laughing today at the jokes, for which I thank you.

We have raised a magnificent £1,143.55 for MacMillan Nurses and the John Taylor Hospice in Erdington.  I am so deeply grateful and very touched by the kind support of friends and neighbours who came and spent so much money and donated so much to help these worthy causes.  I feel honoured to know such lovely people.

Thank you to all who supported and particularly those who sold tickets and helped to set up the whole evening.

Best wishes.  Denise Field

Sleep Out For St Basils

St Basil's Sleep In

Fish 'n chips, wine, blow up matteresses, sleeping bags ( even a mini TV to watch the final of I'm a Celebrity !!!) and thanks to a very kind vicar of Curdworth a very warm Church Hall. How lucky were we !!!! Not quite the experience of being homeless and having to sleep rough, as my daughter was very quick to point out, but the main thing was we raised £628.80 for St Basils - a local charity that works with young people to help prevent homelessness by providing accomodation and support. We also had a brilliant evening, caught up on all the gossip and did manage to get a few hours sleep. Thanks Denise for making it all happen !!

Coleshill Circle help Round Table celebrate 50 years !
COLESHILL & DISTRICT ROUND TABLE & LADIES CIRCLE

Coleshill Circle help Round Table celebrate 50 years !

Earlier this year Coleshill Circle helped Andrew Calder, Coleshill's 50th Chairman (Centre ! ) celebrate at their Ladies Night held at The Manor Hotel, Meriden

This year we are also celebrating our Circle 50th Charter with a Charter Luncheon on Saturday 13th October, at Grounds Farm, Wishaw. You are all very welcome to join us celebrate 50 years of friendship !

So Who Are Coleshill Ladies Circle?

We are a group of women who meet up regularly to enjoy some planned social events and general friendship. Most of us are busy mums trying to juggle work, partners and children, sometimes we want some time to let our hair down and do something for ourselves. Belonging to Ladies Circle gives us the opportunity to escape from family and work commitments for a couple of hours and also gives us the chance to take part in some activities that we wouldn’t normally have done and putting something extra into your life.

Ladies Circle is open to women between the ages of 18 and 45. After 45 there is our sister organisation ‘Tangent’, but we organise joint events and there’s plenty of opportunity for the two groups to join up.

Coleshill Ladies Circle meets on alternate Tuesdays. Sometimes it might be at someone’s’ house, when we can have a chat over a bottle of wine, or we might go out to a restaurant or have a go at something totally different, like a Ghost Walk in Birmingham or Bowling. The atmosphere is informal and there’s no pressure on anyone to come along to every meeting, we all know how many other commitments people have! It’s great to know that you can always escape once in a while to meet up with friends and meet up for a drink and a chat, or get dressed up to the nines, just please yourself.

So what are we planning to do?

Well, we socialise! Sometimes foods on the menu, sometimes its more active. Over the past year we’ve:

  • Had a Spanish dancing lesson
  • Cycled round the local villages (with plenty of drink stops)
  • Eaten out several times, from BBQ’s to posh hotels
  • Taught to make a proper Curry
  • Played Boules with another local Circle

And we’re planning to do as many varied events this year.

Also, as a group and as part of Ladies Circle we join in and organise fundraising for the local community and for Ladies Circle’s national charity, Cancer Research UK. Most are fun events and include:

  • Race for Life
  • Zipwire challenge down the side of Fort Dunlop.
  • Walk the walk at the Great North Run
  • Think Pink evening when we auctioned off mystery ‘pink’ gifts
  • Disco with live band in Coleshill
  • Helping Coleshill Round table with their Christmas Sleigh

And there’s always invites to other events that local circles are planning, such as Champagne and Strawberries evening and a Ladies day at the Races…..

Why not come along to a meeting

Come along and meet us, make new friends, have a laugh, a chat, enjoy good food and drink, or try something new or help to put something back into the local community. You’ll have the chance to broaden your skills and experience, even have a try at public speaking and event organising, network, travel to different places locally and internationally, meet and exchange ideas with like-minded women. Guests are welcome at all of our meetings.

If you live in the area (and we have members from Sutton, Marston Green and Curdworth) and are under 45, then please contact us via Anna Richardson chez.richardson1@btinternet.com or Lisa Wilcox at lisa.wilcox@yearlsey.co.uk or richardandhelens@yahoo.co.uk. There’s no further commitment, but we’ll tell you when and where our meetings are going to be.
