ON THE IMPENDING STRIKE OF UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA EMPLOYEES:
The right to strike, free from management interference or reprisals, is a human right. Workers' rights are identified in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights (Article 23) and are elaborated by the International Labor Organization (the ILO, the UN's special agency for labor matters).
The ILO has stated that the right to strike is an inseparable part of workers' freedom of association rights, including the right to join a union and to collectively bargain your employment. These rights are fundamental human rights, core international labor standards. International human rights standards assert these rights are to extend to all workers universally, without distinction whatsoever.
I encourage all University administrators and managers to accept the liberal mission of your institution and respect human rights by refusing to intimidate, discriminate or discipline University employees as they exercise their basic human rights at the workplace.

We are informed that the technical, medical, and clerical workers at the University of Minnesota (all campuses, and between 3,000 and 4,000 workers) will be going on strike on September the 5th!
The Norwegian Syndicalist Federation, affiliated to the International Workers Association (IWA, AIT in Spanish), wishes you good luck in the strike!
Solidarity and direct actions are the only “measures” we can rely on as workers, and our strength is not built upon laws and regulations but the solidarity and activities that we as workers are able to make!
