NORTH COAST NATIONAL

♦Following tradition this year, the  Lismore North Coast National  was as wet as ever. Keeping horses and oneself out of the mud on  thursday and friday of the show proved to be quite a challenge as the ring would have been better described as a fishpond. However despite looking like a drowned rat with her makeup running down her face and almost missing her class Gennavieve was named Champion Led thoroughbred Mare.  The following day was just as wet though her manny training days in the pooring rain payed of as she worked very well despite the cold wet and windy weather, placing in all her classes.¢À

Kyogle Show Yet a nother successful show for Both Gennavieve and I, The competition was stronger than Nimbin but Gennavieve still performed extremly well taking home two 1st placings and a 2nd.

Gen winning her first ever class (Thoroughbred mare under saddle)

Nimbin Show 08 As usual the day before the first show of the season was a mad rush. Trying to round up bits and pieces, finding out just how many things have gone missing thoroughout  the year and starting from scratch with Gennavieves  massively thick main and hairy ankles, However a hectic friday afternoon of  clipping, main pulling, plaiting, washing and basically running around like a mad woman all payed of the next day.

We arrived a little late for gennavieves led class and decided the time would be better spent letting the mare get used to her surroundings as it was her first  formal outing since we acquired her 3 months ago.  Surprisingly she settled in quite easily for a young horse with little to no expirence, and so began the makeup, I thought perhaps this would prove to be a challenge seen as she'd never had raven oil painted on her face nor blacket to her toes but she did not falter.

Her first class of the day was the open thoroughbred mare under saddle Gennavieve performed admirabley I could not have asked for a better workout and to my utter delight she was awarded 1st place! She continued to work wonderfully throughout the rest of the day, though she was only entered in three classes as it was cut short by a lurking thunderstorm, She ended Up placing 2nd in the maiden hack and third  in the novice hack over 15.2hh

Congratulations Lady Gennavieve on a most successful first Competition.
