Welcome!
I am building this site for Phantom
of the Opera costumes - based on the 2004 movie version. The costumes
were designed by Alexandra Byrne.
The goal of this website is to provide phans (hurhur) who like to costume information about the gowns. The information is as accurate as possible, and is accompanied by a plethora of pictures to let you make your own decisions. This website also tries to be somewhat technical, to provide with construction tips to figure out how to put together a screen-accurate costume, whether the construction is period or not (which is not, more often than not).
Right now this is a Christine Daae only costume research page.
To see Phantom/Erik research, go here.

Um.
Yeah, it's currently the 27th of July in the year 2009.
I believe this website is going to die.
So, if anyone wants to take over, or something, go ahead. I don't know why anyone would. But yeah. Copy-and-paste the insightful text or something. I'm still getting a few emails about this site still, so I realized how badly I've been keeping this up. Anyway. I will refer you all to the lovely Phantomess (I actually haven't been there in awhile either. Hopefully it's running strong) if I'm not covering something. Check out her website.
Yeah. So if for some reason you desire to run a Phantom costume website and don't want to start from scratch, email me! I may hand it over so it doesn't collect dust and ... die. Not that I have a particularly large reader-base. You know, like fanbase. Except not.

UPDATES- April
4/29 Stealing from costumer's guide..
more Cinematic Couture pics, for the Masquerade gown.
I think this website is dying.. or at least I'm not updating it for a long time. Unless something happens...
UPDATES- February
2/1 Brblkjclads... taking 8 classes is not nearly as benign as it sounds.

UPDATES- October
10/15 Well... Costumer's Guide has some larger pics of the Cinematic Couture exhibit!
10/11 Ah ha! Something substantial!
Eyvette sent in some pictures of her costumes, viewed here!
Grace found an exhibit, which turns out to be this (stolen from costumersguide.com). It's called Cinematic Couture and ended on the 7th. Christine's Masquerade gown is shown! Here are some pictures and here is another. There's a nice shot of the back in the first link. I'd say it fits the mannequin better than Emmy.
Also, Christine Costume Maker left this in the guestbook (which I'm
horrible about checking): a link to her site! She's made the Wishing,
Don Juan, and Mirror costumers. You can see her website here!
UPDATES - September
9/6 I'm aliiiiive!!! Uh...
Here's a page
for Emmy's makeup in Phantom. This was found a long time ago, but I
just refound it. Here's what it says, in case the page dies for some
reason:
UPDATES- July
7/29 Lauren sent in progress pics of her Twisted Every Way gown! Go check it out here.
Now... English homework! I heard all of the sophomores last year
complaining about her, so I'm bracing myself for her grading on my
essay, which plainly sucks right now. I need to cut off 100 words to
make the 500 word rule. Cut out all the "fat", yeah. And ten sketchbook
pages for AP art.
UPDATES- June
6/20 More updates on the Phan Made
page! Lauren sent pictures of her finished dressing gown, and it's
pretty awesome! I'm so excited that I was able to actually help
someone! Hence all of the !!!!

6/18 Updates on the Phan Made page! Evyette sent some more pictures of her dolls and Lauren sent pictures of her dressing gown! Thanks!
UPDATES- May
5/23 Sigh. I am still alive. Just kind of uninspired. I'm
afraid this site will be neglected for a looong time. If anyone wants
to inspire me, you can email me at pribadi _ girl @ yahoo . com (minus
spaces). I'll be happy to put anything you like up (don't spam me,
please!). I'm actually on the computer a lot, and check my email three
times a day
UPDATES- February
2/27 Evyette sent in pictures of her project where she sewed PotO costumes. Check it out here!

I also did a bit of updating on the Mirror/MotN section. But just a little.
2/11 I found an interesting picture of Christine's dressing gown... it shows the back!
UPDATES- January
1/ 5 Yes, I have been neglecting this website... partly because I can't expand it. Oh yeah, and I did do Christine's Il Muto dress. So I opened another website for Phantom research! I used the new template I designed... because I wanted to test it out before I redid this website because it would be a pain is the template was messed up. So here it is. There's no images or research, but it's a start.
UPDATES- October
10/3 I was away for a month...? I'd better start doing something... Il Muto is calling my name...
Added a link: Smashed Rose Entertainment. (PotO phans unite!)
UPDATES- August
8/27/ Just wanted to say I'm still alive...
starting high school. Ugh. Being a freshman in a sophomore class is not
particularly fun. (At least people think I'm a junior from my Yr 3 math
textbook I carry around...
)
Yes, I should start Christine's Il Muto costume or something.
Oh, and I have 10 votes on my poll! I thought I'd get 0 or something. So thank you everyone who voted. Since most of you don't care, I think once I settle on a webhost I'll go for it. Easier for me, anyway.
8/15/06 Received a description from Brooke of Meg's Masquerade costume and the Hannibal costume! They're very descriptive! Thanks so much! I also added Jirina's ballet top pictures and Leah's Hannibal cape pictures! (it's days like these when I want a multiple-picture uploader...)
8/9/06 Because this website is in need of a facelift (I'm probably going to get a different web hoster and a domain) I made this test layout. What do you think?
8/7/06 Brooke sent in lots of pictures of her costumes she won on ebay! Look for some more updates soon there... another person has another costume which she even made a scale pattern of!
8/1/06 Found them! I did some backtracing on poto_costuming (livejournal... I lurk... shh don't tell anyone) and found that Arkady is the one who took these! Thank you so much!
UPDATES- July
7/30/06 Updated Wedding section. Does anyone know who took these lovely Bloomingdales pictures?
I found them lurking in my folders and unfortunately did not name them. If you took those, please email me: pribadi_girl AT yahoo.com (replace "AT" with "@"). These have been very useful!
7/27/06 Adding image gallery and description to Wedding gown, finally. The description is not complete, and it doesn't have pictures to explain, either.
7/23/06 Updating MotN section. Adding poll about changing site to a www.domain.com site, since Imageshack is not the best tool for uploading tons of hi-res pics... I have no source of income (teenager here!) so it is kind of a big decision for me.
7/10/06 Ebay alert! Costumes on sale by studio! Last chance!
UPDATES- June
6/23/06 Updated Hannibal section. Will probably add more (this costume is amazingly complex!) but I'm busy sewing! Yes, I am avoiding the Wedding dress, why do you ask? (monochromatic dresses are ALWAYS hard to see details on)
6/20/06 Reformatted! Again!
6/15/06 Added a supplies section in Links
6/13/06 Brooke sent me the hi-res pics of the Meg Masq gown! I'm uploading them now. Thanks Brooke!
6/9/06 Beginning to add the patterns/suggestions to Masq, Twisted, MotN, and Wishing pages.
6/7/06 Adding a patterns/suggestions section to each costume... ToM is nearly complete!
6/1/06 Added a few pictures, namely in the Twisted and Don Juan/PONR pages.
UPDATES - May
5/31/06 Yay! I have the gallery AND writeup on theTwisted page! Granted, it's not very detailed, but it's better than nothing.
5/30/06 I'm not dead yet! I feel happy! I put some stuff in the Masq section... it's not quite done. I updated the All I Ask section. I lightened the screencaps for the Twisted gown, I'll upload them soon. (hopefully)
5/10/06 zomg...zomg...
*muffled popping noise from my head*
need another page... picture overload...(see here to see why- if you are obsessed like me, then [persuade] you will join [/persuade] )
UPDATES - April
4/22/06 Blurb added above, and bits of info I thought I had put in on the ToM page. And actual progress! No, not masq (unfortunately) but I have the Ebay pics all up! Slightly messy, but at least there are pics!
4/8/06 Um... new banner? School is busy... I am updating MovieDolls.
UPDATES - March
3/23/06 Okay, okay, I admit, I have been somewhat lazy on the updating thing... instead of updating Masq, I add a teeny image gallery in the Wishing section. Maybe I'll update the gallery on the Aiaoy section...and the Twisted section.
3/14/06 I am alive!!! Slow, slow progress on Masq section. Image gallery is up. I've barely started on another website, MovieDolls. This'll be interesting. I have a tutorial up there, and will hopefully get pics up of my dolls soon. So, the Christine Doll section will be moving. Soon.
UPDATES - February
2/21/06 Sort of finished DJ section (meaning I'll quite working on it for a while) Next victim... Masquerade. Oh yes, and added a Random Tips section.
2/20/06 Working on the DonJuan section... Imageshack is malfuctioning. argh.
2/18/06 Update in the doll section.
2/16/06 Updated the MotN section. (yes! 100+ visits!)
2/7/06 I added all of Grace's comments! This ToM gown is definitely my favorite. That's why it's the only description I consider almost complete... hmmm... maybe I should start working on her other costumes... specifically her Don Juan outfit.
2/6/06 The ToM gown has been exhibited at a gem convention! Grace from the Yahoo Costume Group took pictures and detailed notes on it! I currently only have the pics up at the ToM section... I will add her notes and mine.
2/4/06 I added a gallery at the bottom of the Think of Me section... actually, Imageshack provides nice thumbnails so I don't have an excuse to be lazy and resize the image and linking instead. Good for people with slower computers.
2/3/06 Sadness... I have too many files to upload. I deleted some, including my background... From now on I'll have my files on imageshack. Anyway, I updated the Hannibal section a little.
