After they left Pridelands, in a place far from their home, Kovu and Kiara found a friendly pack of outland lionesses who lost their male leader in a battle with some unusual two-legged animal. They were a traveling pride, which Kovu found good to his tastes.
Some time later another cub was born to Kiara, a healthy brown-gold boy named Otien. He's the youngest of the group of the cubs, but thanks to his charm and self-confidence he's considered their leader. (other cubs are Serpen, Lantana, Lima and Badu + other random ones)

Kiara got killed when Otien was small, and Kovu got attached to his son who reminds him of Kiara and keeps him sane. He teaches him all Zira once taught him and Otien grews to the biggest and strongest young lion. Just like his father, Otien tries to prove himself things and desires to travel and to see his family Kovu never really talked about. There was a reason, Kovu couldn't face Simba now after he lost Kiara. He tells Otien about Simba and the young lion decides to take over the throne which should be his after Simba's death because Kovu abdicated on his own will.

However Kovu never mentioned Mo to him.


The Pride decided it would be best for Mo never find out who he truly is. Not like anyone would talk to him - everybody avoided little cub's big asking eyes, except for Simba who took him in. And Ciri.

Short time before Mo's birth, Vitani came to the priderock with a baby cub named Ciri.
Unlike Kovu, Vitani enjoyed prideland life, the fresh green grass, lots of water and various animals for hunting. She never really became friends with prideland lionesses like others from former Zira's pack, but they accepted her because she was the best hunter so far. Vitani spend most days exploring the huge lands of Simba's kingdom and slept in old Scar's den. One morning she showed up with a newborn cub and since it was a girl, Simba didn't mind and gave no questions about who the father is.

Mo and Ciri became best friends (no other cubs in the pride? or maybe only Uriana?) after Ciri decided to found out what's wrong with the weird cub that everybody avoids - and realized there was nothing. Mo was the sweetest cub ever, always willing to help others even then acted like they don't see him. They felt the same hate they felt for his father Kovu - the assasin, king's murderer(well, almost). With Kovu gone, Mo should be the next king, but after voting the most decided to discharge him and not to tell him who his parents were. The whole "King Simba's grandson" shall stay a secret, which was easy because Mo couldn't ask anyone directly. Simba didn't talk about the issue, Ciri was too young to know anything but always stood on Mo's side. He annoyed her with his good manners and naiive personality, but she learned to like him.
