Kopieterra Siberian Huskies

My Foster dogs

From time to time and when required I have fostered Siberian Huskies for the Siberian Husky Welfare Association (SHWA).  Although it is heart breaking saying good bye to these dogs when they go to their new homes, it is so rewarding and makes it worth while to see them flourish while they are with me and their new owners.

SHWA has a great forum where we can keep up to date with the dogs in there new homes (http://raindog.proboards49.com/index.cgi) anyone can apply to join and it is a good place to get involved with welfare and ask any questions you may have on the breed. Hey you never know you may end up with a rescue.

Over christmas and new year 07/08, we fostered Echo, a lovable 2 year old grey and white with blue eyes.  Echo's original owner could no longer keep her and when he finally decided to give her up, he vetted a young family before he agreed to them having her.  6 months later he was walking down his local main street when he spotted a young guy with a siberian husky very similar to Echo.  Closer inspection revealed that it was Echo and when the man was approached he told him that he was selling her, did he want to buy her.

After argueing with the man that it had originally been his dog and that he would not buy her back he was told to forget it, even with the police involved there was nothing that he could do to get her back into safe hands.

Later that night he received a phone call as his name and details were on the dogs kc and vet papers, saying that if he didn't had over X amount of pounds that rottweillers would be set on it.

He managed to scrape enough money together to secure Echo's hand over and immediatly handed her into welfare.

Echo is now living in Aberdeen, whith Andrew Scott.

Cassie came to us on the 14th April 2008, she only stayed with us for 6 days until we could carry out a  home check on a possible new home.  She is an adorable  sandy white  2 year old bitch with blue eyes.

She was giving up to louise Dunn once her original family couldn't cope any longer and unsuspecting to Louise who worked on a farm soon discovered that huskies and live stock is a receipe for disaster, although Cassie only wanted to play with the farm animals, Louise was told by the farmer that he would shoot her for worrying sheep.

Reluctantly Louise gave Cassie up for her own good and she is now living with Margaret Wilson in Cumbernauld.

Star came to us on the 11th July 2008, she came up to Scotland from Stafford with her litter sister.  She was meant to be going to a family in East Kilbride while her sister (Jazz) went up the east coast with Billy Allen who had collected the two of them.

Unfortunately for Star the couple came to see her and decided that they were not ready to take on a 2nd husky   Star stayed with me after this and I managed to find her a home in Aberdeen, they had been waiting a long while for a dog from SHWA and as they were going on holiday the following week, I agreed to keep Star until they returned.

On returning from holiday they contacted me to make arrangements to collect her and everything seemed to be going well, until the next day when they phoned and said that the time just wasn't right   By this point I was very angry as this lovely sweet little dog did not deserve this in the slightest.

Star had now been with us for over 6 weeks and we were very attached to her, we discussed several times the possibility of keeping her but it would mean we were then limited to helping out with any other dogs,

Star is now living with Stella Croft and her partner Rob in Manchester
