Ottawa makes it the playoffs

Ottawa will face Pittsburgh in the playoffs. Sundin and Cheechoo are both injured, though.

Daze Gone, Mogilny In

In a surprising and blockbuster-worthy trade, Ottawa traded slumping Eric Daze, prospect Marc-Andre Bergeron, and a third-round pick to Anaheim for Alexander Mogilny and Philippe Boucher.

Kipper is Amazing in Shutout!

2 Ottawa

0 Columbus

Miikka Kiprusoff recorded his first shutout of the season and Eric Daze scored his first goal of the season.  Kipper even got an assist on Pandoflo's empty-net goal

Sens beat Osgood, Thrashers

3 Ottawa

1 Atlanta

With two top centers injured, Ottawa still managed a win.  Marian Hossa came out of his cold streak with 2 goals, and Claude Lapointe has continued to be a solid center.  Miikka Kiprusoff was his regular self, stopping everything in his path.

Another Loss. McCauley Injured

1 Ottawa

3 New Jersey

Ottawa has continued to bombard its opponents with shots, but cannot put the puck in the net.  Marian Hossa has been on a cold streak, as well as the whole team.  Alyn McCauley left the game with a back strain and is expected to be out for 3 weeks.

Short Lived Happiness Ends

2 Ottawa

4 Edmonton

Ottawa continues to lose to the league's worst teams: Edmonton, Buffalo, and Florida.  I guess that makes Ottawa the worst team.  Frustrated with Eric Daze's performance this season, GM Kookaranian sent the forward to defense, switching with Joni Pitkanen.  It didn't work out at all, though, as the Senators could not connect and put the puck in the net.  Ottawa dramatically outshot Edmonton, had more PP opportunities, more hits, more face-off wins.  Ken Klee and Derek Armstrong both scored their first goals of the season.

Finally, A WIN

4 Ottawa

1 NY Islanders

After a three-game losing streak, the Ottawa Senators came out with a win on the back of backup goalie Ryan Miller.  Miller made 21 saves, allowing only one goal during his season debut.  Islanders goalie Kari Lehtonen must be credited to the win, allowing 4 goals from about 20 shots.  The Islanders replaced Lehtonen with Dan Cloutier, who stopped the rest of the shots in the third period.  The Islanders salvaged a goal once Cloutier came in and brought up their spirits.  Alyn McCauley of the Senators got the first star of the game with a goal and assist.  Fredrik Sjostrom also scored his first goal as a Senator.

Ottawa Loses AGAIN!!

1 Ottawa

3 Buffalo

Ottawa has only scored 2 goals in its last 3 games.  I'm tired of writing about how I lose, so no more game summaries.

Ottawa Shutout by Panthers

0 Ottawa

3 Florida

Ottawa has continued its losing streak and shows just how dependent they are upon team captain Mats Sundin.  With Sundin out of the lineup with a collarbone injury, Ottawa has not won a game.  The Senators offense needs a huge boost, even though they have good offensive players.  Team chemistry has been a huge problem.  Eric Daze remains to have 0 goals this season, intensifying rumors that he might be traded soon.
