Kolchak the Night Stalker Photo Comic

"Devil's Birth"

Part Five now playing!

Greetings fright fiends and welcome to the Kolchak the Nightstalker photo-comic, "DEVIL'S BIRTH". I'm Uncle Deadly, your host for the evening and your guide through this sideshow of the macabre. "Kolchak the Nightstalker: Devils Birth" is a six part photo story where Kolchak discovers the dark origins of Jason Voorhees, because sometimes in order to stop something, you first need to know how it began.

Part Five (of Six), has just been added as of Halloween and can be found on the nav-bar on the top.

Enjoy my little tater-tots!

Dedicated with much affection to Darren
McGavin, who's kept my (continuing) childhood so fun. :)

FOLLOWING THE CONTINUITY

Hi, I'm Rick, writer of "Devil's Birth". Me? I'm a Jason fan. Never liked Freddy or Michael Meyers, but I love the Friday the 13th series and I wish I could tell you why, because most aren't very good, are they? (laugh) But man,  I love Jason. Always have.

The first two movies of the series are the best for me, even though it's "Zombie Jason" from the later movies I actually dig. Let me tell you, as a fan, never has a popular film series been so filled with raging continuity errors, contradictions, and just bad want-to-ignore sequels.

Maybe it's always been my liking of the concept that has kept me a fan of it, and knowing if anybody ever actually
tried on these things they could knock a F13 movie out of the park, (though the only horror series that ever noticibly got better as it went on was the Chucky series, which OMHO got amazing). The F13 series is ripe for being re-done better.

The one thing that always seemed glaring was that there was never a real origin story for Jason. Demon worms sure aren't it.  I've been working on this Kolchak story (on-and-off) for two years now, and in that time an Origins F13 movie has been announced. Let's hope this is a new corner for the F13 series!

I've taken the liberty of ignoring the hell out of a lot of the sequels/movies where Jason was listening to people's arguments outside of their ships cabin before slinking back into the darkess, etc. This story is placed in 1989 since Kolchak's age was directly based on late Kolchak actor Darren McGavin's actual age. Since they really fudged with time in the F13 movies anyways, I tried to leave the stories placement open to interpretation. There were often glaring continuity errors abound going back even to the earliest sequels, so you almost have to ignore certain things to make a coherent movie "reality" anyways.

I got additional research help when memory failed me from the awesome Friday the 13th: The Website and the And You call Yourself A Scientist sites.
Enjoy! Let me know what you thought!
I had fun making this, but am doomed to know if I ever actually take a photo-shop class I could do it MUCH better!
