This was actually my Young Author's for my 11th grade year. It's hitting two birds with one stone, eh? I've super edited it since then, however. Enjoy!!
In the beginning, there existed only one thing. It was more powerful than anything else and still is. It was the Great Beast. Time and space did not exist even, but the Great Beast did. He felt very lonely as he existed for a timeless instant in a nonexistent place. When the timeless instant passed; he made the first planet, the first star, and began time. Yet his loneliness did not go away.
So, with the universe ready, at least to him the universe was, he made three beautiful daughters. To one, he bestowed Power and dominion over Fire and Earth. To one, he bestowed Wisdom and dominion over Light and Time. To one, he bestowed Courage and dominion over Forest and Air. He named them Din, Nayru, and Farore respectively. He commanded the other six elements of Water, Spirit, Shadow, Unity, Ice, and Mind.
The Great Beast himself was a large, brown bear who seemed to shimmer in the light of day and glow softly in the dead of night. He didn’t feel lonely as he played with his daughters, so there was peace. Din would dance, Nayru would play a harp, and Farore would sing. After six days, he let forth a hurricane yawn, lay down which caused an earthquake, and drooled an ocean as he slept. His daughters quickly grew very bored as they waited for him to awaken.
One said, “Father made this world, let us see if we can do just as well while he’s asleep.” Her sisters hastily approved of this action.
They went to the opposite side of the star and began to work. Din formed the new world’s fiery core and added an earthy crust with massive mountains, colossal canyons, awesome abysses, and violent volcanoes. Nayru formed bottomless oceans, extensive rivers, slender creeks, and created physical and spiritual laws for the world to live by like gravity and what happened after death. Farore created forests on mountains and in valleys and everywhere else they would grow, spread out clouds all across the world, and breathed sentient life into existence: the tiny Picori who could be seen only by children and were no larger than grains of sand; the brilliant Oocca who lived in stone cities high in the clouds and looked like men with great wings sprouting from their backs; the noble Arori who were the first humanoids who grew to full age and withered and died; the mysterious Sheikah who grew up like the Arori but then would kill themselves at the age of fifty to prevent being a burden to their people, at least that’s how they saw it; and the child-like Kokiri, who were made with the help of the Great Deku Tree, who always remained young as a ten-year old once they reached that age and were semi-immortal. Some Picori grew to a few centimeters in height, emitted a soft glow, and grew wings to become fairies for the Kokiri.
For seven days, the three sisters continued to shape and perfect their world, and then their father awoke. He called for his daughters and looked for them but was soon bored of that. He created two sons, a gold-furred wolf with red eyes and a gold-scaled dragon with sapphire eyes, and send them out to find their sisters. He bestowed the wolf with the name Oromis and the powers to command Spirit and Ice and the dragon with the name Majora and the powers to command Shadow and Mind, leaving himself with Water and Unity. The brothers hunted across the planet of their father’s making until they realized their sisters were not there. The brothers took off across the black emptiness we call space.
They found the world their sisters had made and noticed that two other beings were coming at them, the first two Shadow Reapers. They had been born out of the empty space during the weeks that the Great Beast had not crafted anything. The Shadow Reapers became the shadow form of the two brothers. A vicious battle took place in the dark space. Majora fled his shadow form, leaving Oromis to fight them both. Suddenly, three golden forms rushed out from the world made by the sisters; the forms were the sisters, rushing out to fight the Shadows. The Shadows snickered and retreated to their master, the Dark Beast. He was the first Dark Being, and his strength rivaled the power of the Great Beast.
Majora fled to his father, the Great Beast. The Great Beast was enraged when he heard his son’s report, for they believed that the three sisters had created Shadow Oromis and Shadow Majora to destroy their father. “I shall tear their world to shreds! Come, my son; we shall purify our universe!”
Nayru looked to the future and saw disaster. She deemed that she and her sisters and brother would have to face their father and brother and hope that they won. Fearing for their lives, the Picori united the Kokiri and Arori and Oocca and Sheikah into the first Great Alliance. The Great Deku Tree, fearing apocalypse, brought forth the Deku in honor of Farore and the Wolfos in honor of Oromis, fortifying his forests and woods. The Picori forged three enchanted swords, each containing powerful magic enchanted by a Kokiri, an Arori, or an Oocca.
The Kokiri’s enchanted blade they gave to Farore, since most of them believed it was not their battle. Only one wanted to fight, but his fear made him tremble at the mere mentioning of the Great Beast’s incredible power. The Arori’s enchanted blade they gave to Din, since they thought the same way that the Kokiri believed, that it was not their battle. The Oocca’s enchanted blade they gave to Nayru, but they added that they would actually fight… for a very brief time.
The Sheikah were outraged to realize they did not gain a gift from the Picori to give to the deities. They immediately abandoned the alliance. The Picori realized this and decided to fortify their alliance with the Wolfos with a special set of claws, called a Double Clawshot; and the Deku with exploding ammo they named Deku Nuts.
The three sisters and Oromis confronted their father high on the clouds. He was infuriated beyond reason, and he would not listen to them as they tried to tell him that they had not sent the two Shadow Reapers to attack his hunters. He attacked his daughters and son. He struck down Farore first; Din shot a fireball at him and he lashed out with a claw strike. Oromis grabbed hold of his neck and he was thrown off. Nayru tried to run away, but the Great Beast caught her and hurtled her at the sun. He had found a perfect prison and threw Din and Farore in, too, but not before Farore could throw her sword to the ground. Oromis weakly rose to his feet and faced his father alone, but not for long.
Two green flashes surged from the ground to the clouds, as if they were lightning bolts. The flashes became two Kokiri standing with their shoulders touching as they faced inwards and to their opponent. A Picori stood on the left shoulder of the right Kokiri. The two Kokiri looked exactly alike. They both had brown hair and green eyes. They both wore Kokiri hats and Kokiri clothes consisting of green shorts and green shirts with short sleeves and a red belt with a golden buckle. The one on the left held a bow and the one on the right raised his right hand and his mother’s sword, now known as the Kokiri Sword, flew to his hand. The Picori on his shoulder held a small blade, now known as the Picori Sword, in his right hand and a staff about the size of a twig in his left. This Picori was slightly larger than the rest, about the size of an oak leaf.
The Picori declared, “Koboku, you don’t have to be here.”
The Kokiri on the left replied, “I… I know, but mom… she’s… she’s been hurt and I won’t let him get away with it anymore!”
The Kokiri on the right declared, “Jordan, you don’t have to be here, either.”
Jordan replied, “I wouldn’t miss this for the world, Josh.”
Oromis watched, amazed, as the three children of his sister argued that the others didn’t have to be there, but they ignored each other. The Great Beast quickly grew bored of this, roared, and charged. Koboku dashed to his left, Josh to his right, and Jordan went straight forward.
Koboku fired off a volley of arrows as Josh moved into the center in almost an instant; Jordan grabbed hold of the Great Beast’s head by his eyebrows and cut them both clean off. The Great Beast slammed Josh, picked him up, and threw him at Koboku, who leapt over Josh. Meanwhile, the Great Beast swatted his face, along with Jordan, who fell to the clouds.
Oromis yelled, “Children, get out of here! You must flee for your lives!”
Jordan teleported next to Josh and Koboku. They spoke in unison, “A life lived in fear is no life at all.” We faced the Great Beast and said, “Grandpa, we’re going to stop you.”
The Great Beast was perplexed. “What do you mean by calling me your grandfather?”
Koboku spoke up, “You’re our mother’s father, and thus, you are our grandpa. Our mother is Farore and you are her father.”
The Great Beast roared, “You are trying to deceive me! It will not work!!” He charged at us, snarling and growling. Koboku immediately shrank behind Josh, who dropped his sword.
Farore leapt in the way and held her arms out wide in a desperate attempt to protect her children. “Stop this right now, please!”
He swatted his own daughter as if she was but a fly to him. He gripped her and her sisters in his jaws, ate their powers, leaped into space, and threw them into the sun. “Majora, watch these three until I return,” he instructed.
“I shall not fail you, father.”
Then, the Great Beast returned to where the last line of defense, a weak wolf, a couple of terrified Kokiri and a Picori shivering harder than a leaf in a hurricane. There was a blinding, white light that shone across the battlefield at that instant. The sounds of a song being played on a drum could be heard from the source of the marvelous light.
The light faded into a single being with a double helix sword on his back. It changed colors every second from green to red to blue to purple and back to green. He wore a white cloak that covered his entire body and masked his face, but a single strand of dirty blond hair could be seen out the side. His deep voice asked, “Why do we have to fight anyway? There’s no point to fighting when we could just live in peace, know what I’m saying, big bear?”
“I am the Great Beast! You will tell me your name!!”
“Names are just something for people to call you. They don’t matter that much, big bear. But, if you want a name to call me, then you can call me Link Temporin. I came here to help Joshua Treehopper, who will one day be a good friend of mine. To make sure that happens, I came to now.” He turned to face me. “You’re just like I remember you. Don’t die in the next 13,916 years, okay?”
I gave him a hearty grin and swore, “On my mother’s sword, I will not die and stay dead!”
“Good.” He turned to face the Great Beast again. “I believe you have a bigger problem coming our way. The Dark Beast is coming here soon, and he is as powerful as you. You can either fight us and wear yourself out and die against him, or we can work together and stop him together.”
The Great Beast was proud of his power. “I will destroy you, and then I will destroy this imposter!”
“You evidently didn’t hear”-
“I heard you fine, fool!”
“Well, isn’t this nice? The only fool who can hope to stop me is fighting,” a dark voice taunted as a black bear descended from space with a black dragon on his left and a black wolf on his right. “Let’s get this over quickly; I have a universe to destroy.”
The white-cloaked man turned to this new enemy. “Joshua, Jordan, Koboku, you are all stronger than you must feel. You are all Ancients and you will overcome this threat, even if I should die.”
“What of me?” Oromis asked.
He turned to Oromis. “You have already fought your fair share today, Deity of the Moon. That is your title in the future.”
“What are mine and Jordan’s, then?” Josh asked, curiously.
He turned to Josh and Jordan. “You are BOTH the Ancient of Leaves, the Angel of Leaves, and the Hero of Leaves, though the world forgets you many, many times. Take heart, though, you won’t be completely forgotten… ever.” He then turned to Koboku. “You are the Ancient of Lore and you live for many millennia, too. I make sure of that. The world eventually knows peace, but not before much suffering and terror befalls it. But never, and I mean NEVER, lose hope for the future I speak of, or it won’t come to pass.”
I pounded my chest and promised, “I will never lose hope!” Jordan and Koboku immediately repeated me word per word. And then Oromis did likewise, except he saluted with his paw, being a wolf.
The Dark Beast charged at the Great Beast and the two great bears battled each other. Meanwhile, Shadow Majora rushed at Koboku, Josh, Oromis, and Jordan and Shadow Oromis charged at Link. Link took out his sword and sighed. He rushed at Shadow Oromis and battled him, blade against claw. Josh stooped low, regained my mother’s sword, and charged. Koboku stayed behind and provided cover fire with his bow; Jordan leapt onto Josh’s shoulder as he ran. Oromis ran alongside Josh and Josh got the first brilliant idea in his life. He leapt onto Oromis and rode him into battle for the first time.
The battle lasted long into the day and deep into the night for three days. Everyone was weary, but nobody dared to stop fighting or trying.
On the dawn of the fourth day, Shadow Majora knocked Joshua off Oromis and Jordan away from Josh. Shadow Majora loosed a terrible stream of fire at Joshua, scorching his flesh and causing him to drop his sword. He fell and continued to fall… He landed between two Kokiri, his quadruplet sister and brother who had been too cowardly to come with Joshua and Koboku to the clouds. Koboku immediately followed him down, leaving Oromis, Jordan, and the Great Beast to fight. Joshua’s fingers slowly inched towards his sword. His brothers and sister immediately brought him and Farore’s sword to the Picori, hoping they might know what to do. In fact, the Picori had tapped into incredible magic and gave three stones to the three Kokiri, representing the three mighty races of the Kokiri in the Kokiri Emerald and the Arori in the Arori Ruby and the Oocca in the Oocca Sapphire.
Erin used the Arori Ruby to devour the burns, but it didn’t restore Joshua’s clothes, unfortunately. Koboku immediately used the Kokiri Emerald to heal my battered body and clothe him. Makaran used the Oocca Sapphire to restore his energy. The three of them then collapsed, exhausted because the three stones took incredible amounts of energy to wield. Josh thanked them, gathered the three stones, and did a running jump high to the clouds, where the Shadow Reapers had almost won.
Josh held out the three stones and cast, “COMBINED SPIRITUAL STONE MAGIC- FULL CHARGE!!!!!” The power from that spell should have obliterated the three enemies, but they managed to escape by some impossible chance. Link dropped to his knees, as did Josh.
Link gave one last statement, “Joshua Treehopper, you are the only true Hero this world will ever know.” And then his body faded.
Josh countered with the last of his strength, “No… you are a true Hero, too… Hero of Everlasting Light.”
The sisters were released and given new tasks: Din became in charge of the Seasons, Nayru in charge of the Ages, Farore in charge of Life, Majora in charge of the Sun, and Oromis in charge of the Moon.
The world rejoiced, even though the story of what happened in the clouds was never passed down. Koboku and Josh were both weakened by the battle. Koboku transformed his physical form into a tree that saw over the whole world; Farore and Josh visited him often. All those who had survived the battle were given titles such as “Ancient of Leaves” or “Deity of Life”.
Just as Link had said, the world forgot the heroic actions. The world forgot its saviors and even twisted the story of its origins to make it seem like it was only the three sisters who had made Hyrule what it was, when in fact, they were just the beings who made it. Everyone made it what it became.
