Chaweng Beach
Chaweng Beach is the real heart of Koh Samui, daytime and nighttime activities are numerous and still very affordable. The accommodation range is wide and will satisfy any budget. Unlike Phuket, most of the hotels and resorts open directly on the beach, many of them offering dinner on the beach after 6 pm, and later on, you can lie down on cushion and have a last drink (or more) looking at the stars and listen to the sound of small waves. Note that as Chaweng is a kind of lagoon, the waves are small and quiet.
The Main street is behind the hotels and display an incredible choice of restaurants, shops and bars. Lately, many foot massages and spas offer an hour of total relaxation after a long hot day in the sun. Not to miss is the incredible "on the beach" dining or drinking... lying down of comfortable cushions, sipping a delicious cocktail (they do know how to do them right!) while admiring the moonlight on te nearby islands. A must! All expats living there know how rare this is today.
