I have been horse crazy since I was a little girl. My mother had horses as a teenager and passed the passion to me.
I started my riding lessons at Foxfield Riding School in California. My weekly riding lesson was the highlight of my week. I still remember the excitment that came with those riding lessons. I love seeing the same thing in my students today. At age 14, I was invited to join the Foxfield Equestrian Drill Team. We rode without bridles and saddles in a routine with jumps. We Performed all over the state doing our precision routine at fairs, horse shows and parades.
In addition to the drill team, I started showing my large pony Thumbelina. When I outgrew "Tummy", I moved up to my favorite old guy, Conrad. He was a grumpy ex-grand prix jumper who still loved to jump.
During my freshman year at Washington State University, I volunteered with PETE (Partnership for Equine Therapy and Education) and leased a little Morgan horse from the schools riding program. I then transferred to California Lutheran University and started teaching at Elvenstar Riding School. In addition to teaching, I was an assistant trainer and work with the horses in the show program.
After college, I moved to Orange County and started riding a sweet little quarter horse, Reggie, at Rivertrail Stables. I got back into showing and soon started teaching beginners at Rivertrail. Unfortunately, the county took the land, and the stables closed after a few years. I relocated to the Long Beach Equestrian Center where I once again enjoyed teaching beginners.
After getting married and moving to Idaho, I found my wonderful mare, Lucy, and my husband and I found this property. Five years later I now have 5 wonderful lesson horses and enjoy caring for a great group of "step horses" that board with us.
I am very active in the Boise Saddle and Jump Club and can always be found at their horse shows. I love teaching and I love taking care of the horses, hope you come to visit!
