knitting for the needy

and anderson highschool club

2007-2008 School Year

Knitting for the Needy Club began in February of 2007

The clubs main purpose is to knit scarves and quilts for the needy. The quilts are made one square at a time, and then crocheted together. This makes it easy and fast to make quilts. This system makes it team effort, and more fun.

During the Semester, we started a Yarn Drive.
The yarn drive lasted for three weeks, and we had a box in the front office for people to drop off their yarn.
We ended up with was three particularly large boxes of yarn which could easily 100+ balls of yarn.

The groups main project was making quilts. By the end of the semester we had 10-15 squares and only one quilt.

The focus for the clubs first semester was keeping together, making sure we had a general outline of what we could and couldn’t do.
