About Me and Bunnies

I've been breeding rabbits since my first little castor MR buck that I picked up at the Tulsa State Fair in 2000. I got bit by the rabbit bug and haven't stopped since! I started showing in 2002, my first show was in Hutchinson, KS and my first judge was Bobby Walker (I wish he judged more of my shows, awesome judge) I've been on a roll since then. At that time I had a nice mix of rabbits in my barn, mostly because I did rabbit rescue (still do) where I took in rabbits that nobody wanted anymore and then rehome them. I was raising Holland Lops, Dutch, Netherland Dwarfs, and had a mini rex a satin and a checkered giant mix and a blue beveran I was breeding for meat rabbits. I then rescued a little black otter wooly man whom I called Jersey because he had no name on his paper work (amazing I got papers with him) I absolutely fell in love! He was so tiny as an adult and the sweetest rabbit I’ve ever had the chance to own and I had to find out all about these and get a doe to go with him. Luckily I found Gingham, a gorgeous squirrel doe who was from a breeder right in my own town (Connie Stephenson, we're still friends) I got one litter out of them, 3 kits whom I named Taffeta, Hampshire, and York. York (black) died before his 3 month birthday, Taffeta (chestnut) went on to give me lots of litters and Hampshire (seal marten) is an old boy now and after being back here breeding does for a little over a year, he has now found a forever pet home. I've had many rabbits through the years and have combined rabbitries with a friend (April Brannon) from MO before but she had to move back. I've had up close to 200 rabbits at any one time. I've been strictly staying with woolies for some time now, we're just down to 4 and my boyfriends one Dutch buck.

Email me if you have ANY questions about rabbits, I’d be glad to answer.

Hope you're having a wonderful spring! And staying warm if you're in this              horrible weather down here!

And since people must know...

My name's Sophia Stoeckl (yes, that's german, pronounce St-O-kl, use your english grammar) Everyone calls me Sophie, some people call me cowgirl, some call me bunny girl, and some call me 'hey' I'll answer to whatever. I turned 20 this year. I graduated in 2006 from Broken Arrow Senior High (yes, we have that nation-wide known marching band, and no, I don't that 'person' there were 900+ graduates) I have been active in our local FFA, the best program for kids. I have my state degree and recieved my American degree in the Fall. No, not all with rabbits, I have horses and range cattle also.

I have one younger brother, who originally started the rabbit thing but now he raises pure bred Charolais cattle and shows them with our FFA. Other animals around here are 3 cats, a mixed breed dog, and 3 horses, Blizzard is a cremello colored QH she is about 14, the papers I have never seen but have been told they did exist, she's the mother to the other two and is currently searching for a new home. Tundra is her buckskin daughter (yes, Blizzard will throw a buckskin/palomino/cremello/pearlino/gruella EVERY time)  Tundra is about 14.6hh,6 years old and spent the first few years of her life kicking and biting but now has had a change of heart and loves hugs and rubs, She's my brother's horse. Barron Sunrize is the one in my picture, he's palomino and about 16hh now. He's 5 years old and is my baby. I need someone to break him though. I just can't get the time to work with him, I'd like to find a 4-Her to sponsor with him, someone who has the time and just wants a horse to play with. I can't sell him though, I know if I do i'll never get him back.

This is my senior picture, my bro took it with my phone, lol. In the background is Rowdy, my truck, I still have him but he went up in flames October 2006, so the engine and cab are totally burnt, it was horrible, happened on the turnpike while I was driving. I'm currently rebuilding my other truck, some of you know that truck, same exact model as Rowdy, but he's all tan, I can him Shorty. UPDATE: as of June 21st, Shorty is running again!!! Also, I have added Zenra to my family, she is a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT in Kalapana Black.

If you're in Tulsa and need insurance, I do that too! I also am going to school for an International Business/ German degree, and plan to go to OSU in spring of '09 to start work on an Ag. Ed. degree.   ~Sophie~
