              First week of school

     "Ugh" Jennifer Lenny said coming home from the first Wednesday of t he school year."I hate the first week of school".She went inside.She was eleven in 6th grade and so far she hated it

    "How was school honey" It was my mom she was always to cheerful.

    "Fine" I said trying to sound cheerful too so my mom won't ask here what was wrong.

    "Mom I think Jenn had a bad day" Her little sister Caitlin said in her tattle tale voice.

    "She probably did honey" said mom " Just leave her be" Finally mom is on my side. After that I went up to my room to start writing in my diary. It went sort of like this:

    Dear diary,

        I hate my teacher, Mr.Riley, just because one person yelled out loud he gave us tomorrows homework too. Also he already gave three people detention, they where Diane, Matt, and Alex J. On the third day of...

      "Honey start on you homework" Mom yelled from dowstairs.

    "Ok" I said miserably. Double the homework how was I going to finish it.

    I went downstairs and brought my homework up to my room. 8 mutlplied by 100,240 divided by 9,000,000=________ was the first problem. Eventually when I was done it was time for dinner we had pot roast. I hate pot roast.

    "Mom you know I hat pot roast" I said whining. I had been hating pot roast since I first tried it.

    "Really, you hate pot roast' my mom said sarcastically. She knew I hate pot roast.

    I ate all my mashed potatoes and went up to bed I didn't sleep well I had a dream where there was a man chasing me in dark clothes. I woke up sweating. Wow, that was a horrible dream, then I thought of something more horrible...school.

Chapter 2

Poof!

    I went to school the next day and forgot my homework, so i had to do it during recess. Then my bus was so late I had to walk home and start on my science homework right away.

    It was pouring.I came in silently and soaking wet. My mom was obviously suspicious.

    "Honey how was school" mom said dragging her voice.

    "Horrible" I said. Oops I forgot to ly.

    "Oh honey" mom said thinking she understood when she really didn't. At all.

    "Bye" I said running upstairs before she said anything else.But, she came up in a few minutes and told me to come down stairs. I did I had to obey her.

    "What went so wrong with school" she said knowing how I would respond.I did it anyway.

    "None of your business, I am to tired to put up with you" I snapped. She started crying.

    Mom ran towards her and hugged her. "Go to your room". She snapped the same way I did. How come she was aloud to do that and not me. So unfair. Wait a sec was that a smile  on Cate's face.Yah. I went up to my room.

    A few minutes later Cate came in. "Nanny Nanny poo poo"Cate said wiggling her fingers while her thumb was in her ears."You got stuck in your room"

    That was the last straw, I lifted my fists to my face and let them go. "Poof" I said knowing she hated that.

    But this had a different reaction on her. She wasn't moving! Not even blinking!

    "Uh, Cate" I aid waving my hands in front of my face. She still didn't say anything or move for about five minutes.

    " Hey, no" she stopped mid no. "Jenn?"

    "Yes" I responded  behind her.

    She quickly whirled around to face me." How did you get there so fast!"

    "What do you mean" I said a high tempered as she was.

    "Last time I saw you you where right there." She yelled.

    "Yah that was about five minutes a go." I screamed.

    "Girls get to bed" mom screamed.

    That night I had the dream again except I was woken up in the middle of it.I screamed. There was a boy his hands on my shoulder. He had been shaking me awake. He had shaggy black hair, hazel eyes, and normal clothes. He looked about my age.

  Chapter 3

Chris 

     "I see you have found your powers" he said, smiling.

    "What are you talking about I yelled. " The Cate accident"

    "Yes" he said. "My name is Chris, Meranith is under attack"

    "Meranith"I said"You look my age you'd think you wouldn't pretend about that stuff anymore.

    "Meranith is real, it's the village where everyone has powers" He aid, very convincingly.

    "Then explain to me how I got 'magic'"I said still scared out of my wits.

    "You are the chosen one, every few generations the witch's army comes to attempt to destroy our kingdom, we must chose some one powerful enough, now we must go we are wasting time" he said eyes wide.

     I thought about it for a sec, then the best thought came to my, if I was with him I could miss school but I also felt remarkably safe. "I'll go" I said.

    He reached out his hand for mine, I held it, blue crystals began to float above me then covered my whole body.When they cleared up we were in front of a huge cave.

    "This is the entrance" he said.

    "OK" I said confused.

    "Lets go in Jenn" He said a sparkle in his eye like he knew something I didn't.

    I turns out he did "What, are you crazy and, how do you know my name" I said panicking.

    "We have to go in there, and everyone knows your name, Jenn, you're famous" He said.

    "Cool" I responded. THen a thought crossed my mind," and Cate"

    "Only royalty and me" he said "because I was there when the king looked in his magic book the see who this few generations chosen one was"He began to lead me to the cave. I followed smiling, not many people know about Cate!

    "By the way what did I do to Cate" I asked thinking of all the things I could have done but nothing came to mind.

    "You froze her" He responded. "They won't know that you did that unless you move and don't come to the exact same spot, you see, when they are frozen time doesn't pass for them. So when you think about it theres a movie and they don't gradually make someone  stand up, you draw one picture he's sitting down and the next he has already stood up, that was what it was like for Cate"

    "Wow" I said "Can I do that to anybody"

    "Yes" He said surprised  I didn't know.

    "So.... if you are from Meranith you must be magic. What do you do." I asked completely of subject.

    "I'll show you"he said in front of me. He started rubbing his face. I screamed, he turned around obviously startled. His power had been he could change his face into any type of animal. And he had planned to scare her, but she wasn't there.
