The Manufactures Railway Co.

The Manufactures Railway Co. is a wholly owned Subsidary of The Anhiser-Busch Brewery. This is one of the only railroads in the country, if not THE only railroad, who's main source of revenue is BEER. The MRS operates with 3 locomotives Models, a MK Rebuild of an ALCo S4, designated S4M, SW1500's and MP15's. The MRS operates from 6 AM to 10 PM switching cars in the yard, or running the transfer to the Alton and Southern's Gateway yard. Other then running beer trains, the MRS also specializes in Locomotive painting and complete compnent overhauls for other railroads. At times, you can see locomotives from several small operaters next to the engine house awaiting their time in the shop.

MRS 253, a One-of-a-Kind S4M works at Amstead Rail in Granite City on lease to the plant. The Unit has since been returned.

At any time of the day, several of the MRS switchers can be seen outside the engine house, which dates to the late 1800's

One of the MP15's is on break while the crew is out for beans.

What looks like to be another SW1500 is actually the very 1st SW1500, originally EMD Demo #108.
