The Central Midland Railway
The Central Midland Railway is a Stand-Alone Subsidiary of The Indiana Railroad. This is the newest Railroad in the St. Louis area. It has a Long and Colorfull history. The line was built by the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific. When the the Rock Island Shut down all operations in Mid 1980, the line was sold to the St. Louis-Southwestern, a Subsidairy of Southern Pacific Transportation Co.. However, the line was of Union, Missouri was never used by the SP. The SP operated the line out of a Small yard on Lackland Rd in St. Louis County. On 9-11-96, the SP was merged into the Union Pacific, who operated the line for a time with a former D&RGW GP30. In Mid 2000, the line was sold to the Missouri Central, who brought in a Former Alaska Railroad GP8. In 2004, the line was leased to the Indiana Railroad, who replaced the GP8 with a Puducha GP10. The GP10 has since been replaced with 2 HLCX former Apalichicola Northern SW1500's. The Former Missouri Central now works for Respondek Rail Corp. on the Former Melvin Price Military base in Granite City, IL.
