Kinross Over 35s vs Forth Valley Fossils

This game was a build up to the trip to Edinburgh for the golden oldies event in Sept. The Fossils are a select side made up from several clubs much higher in league standings than ourselves. It was a great turn out from the old boy's, fielding no less than 22 players, most of whom have played in over 35s for at least 10 years!!

Kinross held the fossils for the first 20 mins before conceeding the first try followed by another three tries in the first half. With most of the game being played in the middle of the pitch, it was a well contested match.
The second half was much more of a game and the Kinross oldies responded very well to the half time lecture.
The fossils scored five mins into the second half through a break away, but Kinross responded very well and gained possession from the kick off then hit a purple patch with some real good ball retention, The forwards took a nice clean scrum deep in their own half and Ian Roddy shipped it out to the backs, where it reached Jocky who actually caught it and made about ten meters setting the ball up for the pack, well most of them! Just when it was expected that the Kinross boys would suffer from lack of fitness they dug deep and really competed well for the last quarter. Kinross scored a nice try with about ten mins to go from a defensive position in the fossils half When a clearance kick was charged down both Malky and Benjie caught the ball at the same time and, not believing their luck, stood there cuddling for a few seconds before going over the line together, with calls of 'get a room' coming from the side lines.

The match was played in real oldies spirit. This was a credit to both team and the work of referee Mr Ian Davidson who did a great job keeping the match flowing.

The team...Jim H, Neil G, Craig, Whiskey John, Ollie, Colin, Andy K, Andy C, Andy w, Benjie, Malky, Sandy, Ian R, Ian F, Craig P, Elton, Andy W, Jocky, Chris D,Rob, Syd,
