Personal Profile

Paul was born and raised in an artistic environment, being the son of a well-respected painter Robert Donald Stokle ARCA.

He started Saturday morning art college from the age of fourteen, studied at Southport College of Art, then eight years of tuition by his father on the techniques of the masters.

In addition to his marine work, Paul has become greatly influenced by contemporary art. Using his traditonal skills, enquiring mind and fascination for nature, along with a developing quest for simplicity, he has started to embark on a second, more impulsive style to run alongside the first. These works need to be studied to allow them to play on one's imagination in a pure, simple and effective way.

Exhibitions

Paul has work in the Liver Buildings in Liverpool, at Halsall Hall, and in a handful of small estates in Lancashire.
He also has shown work at The Marine Gallery in Cowes, Isle of Wight.

Paul has had a number of one-man shows in Buckingham. He was accepted to exhibit at the -Salon des Refuses-, commonly known as the -Not the R.A. Exhibition- at the Llewelly Alexander Gallery in London in 1998 and 1999

Since moving to Carmarthenshire he has a studio at Glyn Coch Studios, permanently shows work at Art Matters Gallery in Tenby and is a member of the Carmarthenshire Artists Open Studio Group.

He is also a part time teacher for adult education in water colours and oils since 1997.
