ABOUT US

The Kings Norton Royal British Legion Youth Marching Band was formed in 1998 by Paul Toft, the ex bandmaster of Northfield Scout Band, Adrian Evans, the West Midlands County Youth Officer and member of Kings Norton Royal British Legion and a handful of former band members from Northfield Scout Band.

Over the years that once, small group of musicians, who played on borrowed instruments, has grown into the band that you see today.

The Band have performed during half time at the Birmingham City v Barnsley Championship league football match on Remembrance Day 2006 and also performed at the Birmingham Internation Tattoo in 2004 & 2006. In 2004 the Band took part in the 60th Anniversary D-Day Commemorations at the National Memorial Arboretum (also making an appearance on BBC’s Midland’s Today). The Band also took part in the West Midlands Business in the Community Awards ceremony at Hagley Hall and BBC1's Restoration for The Old School House and Saracens Head  in Kings Norton which went on to win. The Band have led the Kings Norton and the Wythall Royal British Legion's Annual Remembrance Day parades.

The Band have taken part in parades, carnivals and events all over the West Midlands and also take part in competitions across the country. During 2003 the Band ventured into the challenging world of competitions for the first time. The Band have taken part in competitions in Halesowen, Leek, Manchester, Aldershot and Cannock and have won many trophies since competing. They were crowned TYMBA Novice Class champions in 2006 and achieved promotion to the Contest Class for 2007 and are well on their way to being crowned Contest Class champions in 2007.
