*NEWS*

23-05-2009 ~ Charlie and I didn't make it to MS on thursday so we might be able to go on the 28th to do Prelim 4 and Prelim 14. We have had a few great hacks lately, though i think it's time to find him some breaks so a kimblewick may be on order soon...!

05-05-2009 ~ Charlie is doing really well, with his front end looking good in his summer coat, but his back end still resembling a Yak! We hav our 1st competition on thursday, Prelim 7 @ Moorland Stables. He had a bath tonight, so he's shining! Unfourtunately, he's get a big splinter in his neck, so maybe ANOTHER trip to Chine House. Better warn them he's coming...

09-04-2009 ~ Charles is now so much better! He has 4 shoes on now, and he is so differant! So much happier! Even if he did rough up the farrier...

25-03-2009 ~ Charles visited Chine House vets on the 11th and it's good news! Charles has sore feet due to taking off his shoes, making him lame in his near fore and offhind legs. This caused a muscle spasm in his back. Luckily he should feel loads better with his shoes back on. He might always have a very low-grade lameness, but the vet thinks he should be okay on Bute.

10-03-2009 ~ Charles is off to the vets tomorrow for his assessment and x-rays. He was also in The Derby Evening Telegraph Prize Pets 2009 Competition. Please vote for him by texting DET PETS P0001 Charles, Your Name and Postcode to 65100.

01-02-2009 ~ Charles has been moved to Chine House Vets. He has been registered here years ago. He will be going for an assessment on his back and legs in the next two weeks, to find what is causing his discomfort.

16-01-2009 ~ Happy New Year! Charles should be seeing the physiotherapist in mid february. At the minute, he is being ridden at a walk and a bit of trot for a bout 15mins, 2 or 3 times a week. This way, he's getting out of the field, but is not putting strain on his back. He and Tieger have also started having NAF Pink Powder.

31-12-2008 ~ After taking Charles to the saddle-fitter we realised that his back is still bad. He is still off work until we can get him booked in to physio and we can sort it out! I just hope that it's nothing to serious.

11-12-2008 ~ We have booked Charles for a saddle-fitting on Christmas Eve! We will bring back into work after his long winter break, put his shoes back on and get ready for another year!

04-11-2008 ~ Charles may now also be featuring Horse Magazine 'Collecting Ring' about muddy horses!!!

21-08-2008 ~ Charles is not a rig - which is another thing ruled out. He is now on 2 weeks worth of pain killers, to see if pain is causing his bad behaviour. I also started to lunge Charles - videos and pictures on the website now.

09-08-2008 ~ I recieved an e-mail today from Horse Magazine, and are publishing a letter about vetting and Charles! Thats two magazines Charles will appear in!!! Concerning Charles' health, he is now off work until healthy and fit, so I hope to bring him back into work in spring. We should winter nicely as he is currently a good weight, but will lose a bit of muscle - which should be built up again next summer. Fingers crossed for my boy.

06-08-2008 ~ Today the Vet called with good news!!! Charles' blood samples did not show up any signs of kidney or liver failure and does not have poisoning!!! We are so pleased with results. I have also written an article that will feature in Pony MAG! It is about the importance of having a horse vetted before purchase, and features Charles and 2 pictures of him too!

04-08-2008 ~ Unfourtunately - over the past 2 months, Charles has become more and more aggressive and dominant. My family decided that something had to be done as I had lost my confidence with him. We called the vet with the prospect of then getting a behaviourist for help. We presumed that Charles would pass the check-up with flying colours but I'm afraid it was the opposite. Charles had very sharp teeth - the Vet thought that they had not been seen to for about 3 years!!! She also found that Charles had pain down his neck and back, as well as collapsed fetlocks. She took 5 blood samples, to test for liver and kidney damage, poisoning and to see if he is a Rig. We are waiting for the results.
