My martial arts training began a short few months in Kenosha at a local CYC (Christian Youth Center), but was stopped just before I earned my yellow belt. My instructor moved out of state. I then began training in taekwondo in November of 1995 under Mr. Robert Blackstone. I was asked by a classmate if I watned to help teach white belts and I was hesitant to do so. I was afraid just being a yellow belt that I couldn't do it, but slowly my fears disappeared. I began to feel more confident in myself and I loved who I was becoming and to give back what was being given to me. By the time I earned my blue belt I knew I watned to have my own school. My dreams felt like they were going to shatter though, when Mr. Blackstone announced in April of 1998 that he was going to have to stop teaching to be with his family. I understood what he had to do, but I didn't want that. I continued to train, even under the new guy, Mr. Steve Dietze, and earned my black belt in November of 1998. A short month later I had to stop training due to many upcoming events in my life, but as I was enrolled in community college I earned an orange belt in Kyokushinkai. I also stuidied very briefly Isshin Ryu at Delta State University but really didn't like it as much. I rejoined Mr. Steve Dietze in the summer of 2004 and then the greatest martial arts news in my life happened in the early months of 2006. Mr. Robert Blackstone informed me that he was going to be able to teach again, and I became a part of it in March of 2006. For more information about Blackstone's Karate feel free to cick the patch above to the left. I am also a member of the Christian Martial Artists of America and the International Network of Christian Martial Artists. Feel free to click their appropriate logos for more information.
