HORROR MOVIE NEWS UPDATES:

Where the fuck are you!?

If you hadn't noticed, there has been more progress on the EVIL DEAD remake than there has been on this site and I am here to tell you guys why. I have been keeping it under wraps about what is going on around here for so long because everytime I mentioned things in the past, they ended up falling through the cracks and not happening. Call me paranoid, I wasn't going to allow it to happen this time around. Let me start off by saying, NO the site isn't shutting down and no...I AM NOT DEAD. Thank you all for the e-mails asking if I am alive or dead...nice to know that if I don't update, I am presumed dead. The bad news is this folks...I am only one man who is running this site pretty much by himself. Aside from the handful of reviews that certain people have given me from time to time (I appreciate every one you guys have sent and they help me out BIG TIME!) I am pretty much doing this whole thing by myself. I have hired people before and announced them on the site and while I am grateful for the work they did...sending in a news article for a couple of months then STOPPING doesn't make you apart of the team over here. With that, my life has been very busy as of late working on movies and just finished a zombie short called SURVIVAL INSTINCTS (which should be out soon, so more on that later) and other things so the site hasn't been updated as much as it should be. Reviews and news take alot of time to complete, time of which I don't have. So I am going to be hiring NEW people to work on the site to help me out. I am looking to hire a DEDICATED team of horror specialists to help out with the site whether it be by supplying reviews, or news, or covering conventions. If you are interested and want to know more, send me an email at kahr@kickasshorrorreviews.com and please entitle it something PROFESSIONAL such as "Interested in Reviewing" or "News reporter? I'm your man/woman"  and not "DUDE YOU ROX & I LUV UR SITE! HIREZ ME!"

This brings me to my BIGGEST news of all...this site has been around since 2001 back in the days of FREESERVERS and had been upgraded once back in 2002. The success of this website has surpassed my wildest dreams, never in a million years when I created KICK ASS HORROR REVIEWS one bored night back in high school did I ever imagine it would become such a huge thing. I promised several times over the years a new design and it never came cause things fell through, creative differences occured, money was scammed etc...well my loyal fans. It's finally here. I hired an amazing web designer and very good friend Mackenzie St. Martin who has been slaving day and night over the new design for the site and from what I have seen thus far...it's absolutely amazing. I have held off on this news for so long that I haven't even prepped you for the RELEASE DATE of the new site which is going to be in the next few weeks! That's right folks, a complete REMAKE of the site has been in the works!

"OH MY GOD! HOW COULD HE DO THIS!? HOW CAN YOU REMAKE SUCH A CLASSIC!? What a sell out he is! Bashes all the remakes then goes and remakes his movie the bastard!?!?!"

Thank you George Newman, you can go fuck yourself and die. I decided to take the website into the main streme more so than before. When the upgrade comes, this site will be promoted left and right, it's going to be bigger, better, and actually UPDATED on a regular basis. No more frames and no more HUGE font that hurts the eys! Also, the reviews page has been COMPLETELY fixed so you won't have to sift through 400+ reviews to get to what you want. Half the dead sections will be taken away and burned in the deepest depths of hell (Theatrical releases and DVD releases?) Reviews will all be spellchecked and grammar checked (a HUGE complaint from almost EVERYONE on the planet...thanks I know all about my typos and errors. You all can STOP iming me about them...) Interviews will be easier to access as WELL as the majority of new interviews will be seen and not read!  Tons more but fear not loyal fans, just because everything is being fixed and upgraded doesn't mean I'm changing my ways. I won't be changing the way I review movies nor will I be kissing ass or toning my vulgarity down for I feel that is what makes this site so great. Is the fact that it's uncensored and uncut, there is no directors cut version of this site, it's all out there in it's beautiful UNRATED format. Censors can eat the shit out of my asshole before I go toning myself down! That's right, the difference with the upgrade will be this...the site will be better visually, easier to navigate, updated a TON more and it will just look simply amazing! So now that the cat is out of the bag...i shall mention it again. Here at KICK ASS HORROR REVIEWS...we are HIRING!!! Send in your applications and come join one of the biggest horror movie review websites on the internet! Thousands of people will read what you write every day so get your voice heard! Just send an email to kahr@kickasshorrorreviews.com for more info. Let me know what you are applying for and send in a written article in that area. We are looking for reviewers, news reporters, DVD reviewers, and more. If you are interested in reviewing, send me a review of any horror movie you want. Positive or negative review, it doesn't matter folks cause here at KAHR...we love BOTH! I look forward to hearing from you!

So that's my story folks...that is where I have been, and what I've been doing. I apologize for the lack of updates on the site but I promise you that once the upgrade is here and finished, the site will be back in full swing and going non stop bringing you the very best news, reviews, interviews and everything that the greatest genre on Earth has to offer! Thank you all and as Bruce Campbell would say... "Stay Groovy!"

Very Best,

SAW IV poster revealed!

I had just begun thinking to myself "It's almost August and supposedly SAW IV is coming out OCTOBER 27th but we have had next to NO advertising for it at all!" I began to wonder if they were just going to spam the hell out of it come September and hope for the best. Well, ironically enough the day I thought that was the day I got sent this poster for SAW IV. Personally, I think it's cool to see they didn't go with 4 fingers this time around but it seems to be a very toned down poster for a SAW movie. My thoughts on SAW IV though may differ for it's hard to say if it's going to be good or not. The lack of knowledge of a plot worries me but the fact they got Bousman back to direct after he was dead set against doing it simply by having him read the script puts the majority of those worries to rest. The fact that part 3 wraps up the story nicely and that Lions Gate has SAW V and SAW VI already greenlighted makes me believe that this could be a dying franchise. Let's face it, with the slew of torture films that have hit lately, who isn't sick of seeing half decent actors get brutally tortured. One can only wait and see and hope that they do a good job with this and don't fuck it up. Well..that's my two cents, enjoy the poster!

Meg Snagged A Line...

A while back I got wind of there being a movie made of Steve Alten's first novel MEG, a thriller about Carcharodon Megalodon, the 70-foot, 70,000 pound prehistoric cousin of the Great Whhite Shark and when I heard this, I began making news updates about the project left and right. Within a month's time, the Internet was swarming with reports of the next big thing coming to theatres. My mailbox became riddled with thousands of emails asking about the MEG movie, what else did I know about it, how close it was to the book, (etc) I had never seen such a HUGE response before to a news update. Then we started getting what looked like story board shots for the movie and even a trailer being passed off as raw CGI footage of the MEG itself!!!  New Line Cinema had captured the rights to it and was planning on making an $80 Million Dollar movie. They even acquired Mr. Jan De Bont, (Speed, Twister, Tomb Raider) attached to the project to direct. MEG was to be the next Lord of the Rings for New Line Cinema -- a billion dollar franchise worldwide... and from what I have heard, New Line's foreign distributors ate it up! Things were going great and it finally seemed like we might finally get a GOOD shark movie for a change after a slew of HORRID ones on Sci-fi. And then all went silent...the waves died down and the sea was calm...nothing was coming on the MEG front and months passed without a single new bit of info on the project. Word got passed down that the project even came to a halt! At that point, I was beside myself, why is it that whenever a movie that we all want to see is set to be made, it gets post-poned and put on the back burner while movies that nobody wants to see get pushed into every theatre across the country! All was lost at sea...it felt like the big one had gotten away and all I would have to tell was tales of how I almost caught the legendary fish...until now.

I got word from an extremely reliable source that New Line has snagged a well known line producer who has done SEVERAL big name water related blockbuster films to line produce MEG which is a HUGE step forward. Although I am not able to pin point the person who is line producing, I am going to do my research and find out more. Progress? yes...but only if New Line's top execs stop dragging their feet and finally haul this big monster in! That means a summer greenlight is needed, pronto!

For those unfamiliar with MEG...let me enlighten you on what will be the next KING OF THE SEA...

Many years ago, on a top secret scientific exploratory dive into the Mariana Trench, the Pacific Ocean's deepest canyon, Jonas Taylor found himself face-to-face with an ancient monster too horrifying for his modern mind to contemplate. He was the sole survivor of the creature's wrath that day, left with the almost unimaginable belief that the attacker was a real MEG...the prehistoric Carcharodon Megalodon. The great grand pappy to our most feared shark...the GREAT WHITE. Picture Jaws...then make him well over 70 feet long, weigh roughly 70,000 tons, give him a bite radius of about 10 feet and fill his mouth with 7-9 inch serrated teeth and you get MEG. A creature that could very well grace the silver screen and scare the ever loving shit out of the world. I am going to find out all I can about the upcoming MEG movie and there is a way you people can help too. Freddy Vs. Jason was made because of the fans letting the studio know they wanted it bad enough, same thing can happen here. Get your friends to help out with this, write to New Line, let it be known that you want to see the next big shark movie grace the silver screen NOW and let them know that they are sitting on pure gold with this series. Yes...I said series. Mr. Alten has written 3 MEG books so far starting with MEG, which is followed by THE TRENCH and then the third being MEG: PRIMAL WATERS. Currently Steve is writing MEG: HELL'S AQUARIUM which can only be even more bad ass than the first 3. Let it be known my friends that you want this to happen. I know I'm sick and tired of only seeing MEGALODON's being portrayed on SCI-FI as lame great white sharks super imposed to look like megs...we want something that is going to give this prehistoric creature the dignity it deserves. It worked with JURASSIC PARK...it will work for this. I will keep you posted as I find out more!

Massive Halloween Update

Like I said before, instead of updating a new pic every other day when Zombie throws it up, I will get a bunch and them put them up. So we have tons of news from that front, first off, the trailer that was posted will soon be proven either to be true or false when the TRUE Halloween Teaser Trailer makes it's debut on April 12th when it premieres with the movie GRINDHOUSE. Shooting of Rob Zombie's remake of HALLOWEEN wrapped this past Monday and we have been flooded with an onslaught of new pics and images from the movie. Enjoy...

Judith Myers...

Sheriff Brackett (Brad Douriff) standing in the middle of the street of Haddonfield.

Lindsey Wallace, Laurie Strode and Tommy Doyle on Halloween Night possibly watching THE THING.

Little Michael Myers with his clown mask, staring at candy...or possibly a hidden butcher knife?

The Myers home in the flesh . . .

Director Rob Zombie sits and talks with Daeg Faerch while on set.

Cast shot of Richard Lynch who plays Principal Chambers holding a knife up to the gorgeous Sheri Moon Zombie, Director Rob Zombie and the new Dr. Loomis sporting long hair, played by Malcolm McDowell.

So the pics are in, the trailer hit theatres in about a week, and HALLOWEEN, the remake that has horror fans in an uproar, is being released in August. My biggest question now that I know that this is actually happening is why is it coming out, of all times of the year, in August!? I mean the movie is titled HALLOWEEN...why not have it come out on HALLOWEEN!? Or at least have it occur in October.

Hostel: Part II official Trailer

Anyone who has read my review for Eli Roth's Hostel will know that I wasn't the biggest fan. I felt the film was hyping itself up on false advertising when it wasn't as out there as it deemed itself to be. Needless to say, the lack of story line and the fact the film made me wonder if I walked into a showing of EUROTRIP when I saw it in theatres didn't make me a HOSTEL lover like some of the other fans out there. I understand the sequel is supposed to be more story orientated which has me looking forward to it more so than I originally was. The Official trailer for the film debuted tonight on MTV.com so here is the link for the trailer....also enjoy the uncut poster art for the film that chances are, has already been banned from cinemas.

Stevan Mena is BACK with a BRUTAL MASSACRE!

I received an email today from director Stevan Mena who I met when he was promoting his debut film MALEVOLENCE back in 2004. Last I had heard, Mena was working on a sequel to MALEVOLENCE but apparently he has spent his time on another film entitled BRUTAL MASSACRE. The website is up, and the trailer is running. The movie has an all star cast behind it and it looks great! Movie stars Brian O'Hallaron from CLERKS fame, David Naughton from AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, Gunnar Hansen from TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, Ellen Sandwiess and Betsy Baker from THE EVIL DEAD, Ken Foree from DAWN OF THE DEAD and more. The movie is a comedy about a horror director's adventure making a horror movie where everything goes wrong. Check out the official website and trailer and see how funny this film really is. I was laughing non stop.

Blockbuster Online Review~By Marcus Slabine

I have avoided online venues such as NETFLIX for a reason, I hate not being able to see the movie box before I rent. I enjoy walking through the store and searching for my next film, call me bizarre, call me crazy, it's just how I roll folks. Well, I was given a chance to test out Blockbuster's new online venue, BLOCKBUSTER ONLINE for free so I said why not give it a try. Well, my world is changed and I can tell you this, it will never be the same again. Pretty much, it's NETFLIX with the Blockbuster name on it, and at first glance, you are right. Both allow the customer to order online via the website, both allow you to have up to 3 movies out at  time, and both allow you to simply return them via the pre-stamped envelopes by dropping them in your mail box. They even have the SAME exact DVD slip covers!!!So why the hell should you choose BLOCKBUSTER ONLINE over NETFLIX!?

Good question! It's the one little extra feature that makes it kick ass over it's competitor. The fact you have to send them out and never leave your house is great, but what if you are watching like...Nightmare on Elm Street series, you have the first 3 rented out and you watch them all in one night with your friends. With Netflix...the party stops there unless you feel like waiting 2-3 days for the next 3 in the series to appear. With Blockbuster Online, you drive your ass down to store and automatically get 3 more movies...FREE OF CHARGE!  That's right! I felt like a celebrity going into the store, I picked out my movie, walked up to the front, told them my name...they scanned the BLOCKBUSTER ONLINE envelope...scanned the one I wanted...and bam! I was out of there! No hassle, no 7.99 for a DVD..just a free rental. They send those ones back and before you know it, you have 3 more on your door step. It's that simple ability that gives this the edge over Netflix.

Let's talk selection shall we? As you know, I am a lover of movies, I have seen thousands upon thousands of films, mainstreme and obscure films. So when I go in search of something to rent, I expect to have to spend a lot of money to find it. So I put this service up to the challange by enlisting such hard to find films like DARIO ARGENTO classics (and out of print) OPERA, and TENEBRE. Also I was able to acquire Brian DePalma's SISTERS which is a insanely rare film to begin with. Blockbuster had it. Some films have a waiting list, such as Argento's Bird of Crystal Plumage which I was able to acquire the bonus disc of but not the actual movie? How about those mainstreme movies though? The ones that are ALWAYS rented out and you can never get unless you feel like renting the RATED FULL SCREEN version of them in stores. Well those are always in online and come in an abundance. Trust me on this folks when I tell you I love this service.

The website itself is easily navigatable and anyone who can log into AOL can work it. You have several ways of finding movies, through the title, actor's within it, directors, genre and ratings. You can provide your own rating for each film so that the site knows which you think are great, and which are total crap. You can pick I believe up to 30 films to put in your "Quece" which is like a shopping cart. The top 3 go out and when one of those is returned, the next available one goes out. That was one thing I learned, MAKE SURE THE FILM IS AVAILABLE cause otherwise it skips over them until they are. I was expecting SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE 3 and got 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN cause it was out. The site provides pictures of the movies, user reviews, the cast and directors (of which you can click and see other films they have done) as well as the trailer for the film. It's colorful and easy to navigate as well as maintain the films you want to view. Hell, if you hate a film SO much (as I have) you can even click on the cross out symbol on the ratings to ensure you NEVER SEE IT AGAIN! LOL! This came in handy quite a few times let me tell you.

I have never used NETFLIX so I can't really say it's better from experience but I can tell you, knowing what I know I can make an educated hypothasys on this. It's like playing MONOPOLY, NETFLIX is the regular monopoly with the regulation tokens and the cards and board. BLOCKBUSTER ONLINE is the DELUXE edition of it which comes with extra tokens, an extremely convienent DEED HOLDER and a more durable board. The abiltiy to return the movies to the store is what makes this better! "Doesn't that defeat the purpose though of an ONLINE renting service?" No you impatient moron! Stop interrupting me! In enhances it, you can don't NEED to do that, you don't need to ever bring it in for the free rental! Like I said, it's like Monopoly! You never have to use that handy dandy DEED holder or any of the newer and cooler pieces but at least you have the option to do so. That option worked out great for me, it also enable the horror marathon to go on through out the night! Ask any horror fan and they will know how often horror series turn into 7, 8, 9 films that you can't get all on one night. Imagine paying only ONE fee a month, to rent unlimited rentals, get the first 3, then the next 3 in the series for FREE! You can't go wrong with that my friends! It's win freakin win!

So listen to this horror lover when he says that BLOCKBUSTER ONLINE is the single best outlet for online renting. Because of this service, I have been able to review so far, 20 films that seemed next to impossible to find/obtain and had it not been for this service, I still wouldn't have ever seen them. Be sure to go to www.blockbuster.com and check out this amazing service! You will not be disappointed! I guarentee it!

BLOCKBUSTER ONLINE's RATING:

Rob Zombie's Halloween FIRST PICS and TEASER TRAILER

That is right folks, Tons of pics have surfaced from the zombie base and I am adding them all in one update instead of 13 small ones. So here are the pics,

The first picture of Malcolm McDowell as Dr. Loomis which doesn't seem that bad. Can't really judge since it's JUST a face shot of him. How about Myers?

So alright, he doesn't look that bad, in fact, he looks creepy in both pics. The mask actually does what the sequels seemed to fail and that is cover his eyes and keep them in the shadows. He does although look a little like Frankenstein's monster though but hey, it can still work. Now we come to little Mikey...

This is where I feel it gets lame...when it's hard to distinguish the sex of your villian from their child pics. I really am not digging how Myers looks like a warped version of Dakota Fanning and feels like it could be a she. This is only a set pic so who knows...let's get to the first official picture of the 3 girls...Laurie, Annie and Lynda!

. . . oooook. Now I love the casting for Dannielle Harris but she looks like the most innocent one of them all in this photo. Laurie looks like she is more slutty than the other two and the third girl (Who is playing Lynda) doesn't look like she fits at all. I don't know what look Zombie is going for here but it's definetly not working over here. Like I have stated before, I am pretty against this remake and all it stands for. I don't think making Myers simply a prodigy of parental abuse is a smart move at all. In fact, it makes him just ANOTHER killer with the "Mommy didn't hug me enough" motive which to me is lame as shit. He is better not knowing what makes him tick and this sets out to explain it, then recreate everything that Carpenter made. So yeah, here is the trailer and I will bitch when the next flock of pictures comes out. Click here for it

DEAD SILENCE OPENS ON MARCH 16th!
That's right folks! Director James Wan and Writer Leigh Whannell, the creative duo that brought us the SAW series, have a brand new horror film coming out and let me tell you, the film looks sweet. This could be the film that makes dolls scary again, a feet not seen since the original CHILDS PLAY. In fact, all doll movies now are jokes it seems cause they put to much humor and make them comedies. DEAD SILENCE seems to stray away from that and looks to actually make a terrorfying horror film in the process. But that's not what I am telling you about today, it's the website folks...we live in a world now where online pranks are becoming more and more common and DEAD SILENCE is no different. They are a blast to do and now, here is how you can terrorize your friends and enemies with a personalized e-card. Just go to the film's official website www.deadsilencemovie.net and then make your way over to the Dumm-E-mail. Create your own personalized Dumm-E-mail from one of the film's most disturbing stars! Enjoy! Mwahahahha!

THE HUNT STALKS ITS WAY TO DVD ON MARCH 20th!

From the director of the ORIGINAL Children of the Corn (not the 8 crappy sequels)  comes a new indie film called THE HUNT. So what is it about you ask?

On a chilly fall morning, Jack Hamberg, his eight-year-old stepson and cameraman Atticus Monroe head into the woods to make an instructional hunting video when their outing takes a disturbing turn. While trespassing on restricted land, they stumble upon the relics of a bizarre religious monument and soon realize they're being stalked by someone or something not of this earth!

Sounds interesting but I have more for you people, you need not hunt any further than here. We have the trailer for the film, an exclusive clip from it, the poster art, and even the link of where you can buy it!

Boll's Postal Set to Offend

So Uwe sent me an email the other day with an article from IGN.com that I have below and it's ALL about POSTAL. After reading what is said all I can say is that this movie is going to be insanity on celluloid. I have known Uwe for a little while now and I know how passionate he is about this project for POSTAL and what I can tell you is this, POSTAL is going to be the film that puts Boll on the map in a BIG way cause this is going to be plastered all over TV more than PARIS HILTON is when she makes a bowel movement. He touches on everything in this and it's going to be JUST like the friggin game which shocked the shit out of me with exploding Osama Bin Laden's and the such. Well, enjoy the article from IGN.com.

This ultraviolent comic bloodbath pokes fun at everything from school shootings to 9/11.
Prepare for the uproar.
by Chris Carle

January 25, 2007 - When your movie features a scene of dead schoolchildren, Osama Bin
Laden as a main character, and full frontal nudity from News Radio's Dave Foley, you
know it's not a film for everyone. When you make a movie where 9/11 is played for laughs,
and Columbine is a punchline - even if it is done as a statement - you are sure to arouse
the ire of many.

All of these things occur in Uwe Boll's satirical comedy/gorefest Postal, which is based on
the incendiary PC videogame of the same name (made by Running With Scissors). IGN
recently got a chance to check out footage from the flick, and it may boil down to one of
the most inflammatory pieces of film ever. If it makes it to theaters, expect pickets, threats...
the whole nine.

Boll got his start in Germany directing broad comedies with the fiercely independent
German Fried Movie (aping The Kentucky Fried Movie). Postal is a return of sorts to his
roots, although instead of merely crass nudity and fart jokes, there are sight gags about
Boll getting shot in the junk. which should delight his critics.

What's so raw about the film? It attacks nearly everything Americans - well, everyone -
holds sacred. Whereas other films have tiptoed around 9/11 and school shootings, Postal
plays them off as humorous. Many hold to the philosophy that nothing is off limits in
comedy, but there do seem to be exceptions to the rule, and the aforementioned topics fall
into that category.

What does this all boil down to? The 20 million dollar movie should have no problem
earning its money back on controversy alone.

The plot revolves around Dude (played by Zack Ward), a postal worker who has had enough
and goes on a rampage through the streets of Paradise City. The set-up seems a lot like the
Michael Douglas vehicle Falling Down, but the basic outline is where the similarities end.
Postal is a ridiculously violent, splashy comedy. If you laughed at the gross-out Garbage
Pail Kids or Toxic Avenger movies, you'll be right at home watching this film.

The footage we saw was punctuated by bloody ultra-violence and shocking imagery. An
overhead shot of bloody children laying in a schoolyard was perhaps the most shocking. But
Americans may react even more strongly to the depiction of Bin Laden, who is played as a
media manipulator who rips off one-liners about the attacks on the towers. Is America ready
for broad jokes about national tragedy?

Postal also takes dead aim (pun intended) at American gun culture and seems to be making
a statement about the ease of procuring weapons and how that's leading to violence in the
streets.

But wait. there's more! Foley's character in the production, called Uncle Dave, is a twisted
cult leader who uses his religious doctrine to keep his subjects in a constant state of servitude.
He exploits this by luring them into protracted orgies and other debauchery. In the scenes we
saw, Foley was dressed in an open robe (and we mean open), wandering around the room
barking orders. At the end of the scene, he takes a crap on camera. Yep, it's that kind of movie.
In addition to Foley, the film stars Verne Troyer, who played Mini Me in the Austin Powers
films, Seymour Cassel (Max's father in Rushmore) and Michael Pare.

The film seems to have the pace of a frantic chase movie (a la It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad
World), so on top of being satirical and crass, it also seems high-octane and we're intrigued
to see how this plays in the final cut.

The filmmakers are adamant that it is satire, but have no compunction about offending. In
fact, they intend to challenge and divide audiences, and seem to be ready for the backlash. It's
obvious that everything is played for laughs, but does that make it better or worse? Audiences
will be the final jury. We'll have more on Postal, including news of its distribution, once we
get an indication, so keep your browser pointed to IGN Movies and IGN Games to Film.

Wow is all I can say about POSTAL and the subject matter, I think it will be interesting to see the backlash and also, will be interesting to see how much actually gets put in theatres and how much will be added on a uncut DVD. This will be interesting to see and, having been a fan of the game POSTAL 2, can't wait to see the game turned into a feature film! More to come!

HALLOWEEN CASTING COMPLETED AND FILMING BEGAN MONDAY!!

That is right, after all this time it's finally started filming. The cast has been picked, the pre-production finished and it's now time for Rob Zombie to shoot his remake/prequel of John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN.  So who is playing who? What characters made the cut and which ones didn't, and furthermore, who is new? Also, we finally see who is playing Laurie Strode. So...with no further delay...here it is.

So thats the main cast but there are MORE people folks! Such as Adrienne Barbeau, Clint Howard, Courtney Gains and Daryl Sabara. So there you have it, that is the cast of the remake of HALLOWEEN and yes, it's pretty much a HORROR film starring HORROR actors like TDR and I got to admit, I am excited to see these people together on screen but I can't shake hating this project for the sole factor of what it stands for. Bitching won't stop the film, it's going to happen, and it's going to hurt me just as much knowing they are remaking such an amazing film into a gritty exploitation film. Only time will tell what the end result will be....only time.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HALLOWEEN CASTING NEWS GALORE!

Alright, we have news on the Rob Zombie's remake of HALLOWEEN coming in left and right, but we have a few more additions to the cast now. Unfortunetly, no word on who is playing Laurie Strode (and no, it's NOT Danielle Harris!) but to avoid saying the same things over and over again...here is the cast thus far.

So that is the cast THUS far, and yes DANIELLE HARRIS is in it...but no...she is NOT playing Laurie Strode (thank god that rumor can stop popping up) but now comes the newest piece of controversy swarming the internet courtesy of AINT IT COOL NEWS. They got their hands on the script (rough draft) and had a lot of negative things to say about it. From what I was reading about the movie...Myers Talking, him being an abused child, the lack of Laurie and the fact MYERS TALKS THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE FILM. On the brighter side, word is the film is full of nudity and that means hotties like Sheri Moon, Danielle Harris and Hanna Hall all get naked.

I adore Halloween, I am a HUGE John Carpenter fan boy and own every film he has ever done (even Elvis and Dark Star) so this remake hits me in a very weird way. I like the fact that the series is getting a fresh start but I also don't like seeing what I consider to be perfection fucked around with. The original Halloween is, in my opinion, perfection at it's best. So with all these changes, one can only wonder if Rob is doing what he said he hated about the sequels. Losing the essence of Myers that Carpenter made so clear in the original.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Alright folks, I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Channukah, or whatever you may happen to celebrate and hope you have a great New Year as well! I have a couple of things to give you.

One, is the OFFICIAL poster art for HOSTEL: PART II which should send Vegans screaming to their mommies. If you ask me, it works and it doesn't work. I don't even think it looks like real meat to be honest with you but then you really look at it, and it does make your stomach turn slightly. Not saying I'm a fan of it or not but I will say this, it's nothing I would want served up to me on a platter thats for sure! The plotline for HOSTEL: PART II goes like this...

While studying art in Rome for the summer, three young American women (German, Matarazzo, Phillips) are lured away to a Slovakian hostel by a model from their class. Soon they will experience the grim reality their weekend getaway has in store.

HOSTEL: PART II stars Bijou Philips, Jordan Ladd, and Jay Hernandez and is directed once again by Eli Roth, it will hit theatres on June 8th, 2007.

We also have news on the upcoming HALLOWEEN remake which is being helmed by THE DEVILS REJECTS director, Rob Zombie. Casting has begun and while original rumours went crazy a while back about Sam Loomis being played by Sid Haig with Sheri Moon as his daughter (real original huh?) those were debunked as complete and utter bullshit. So now we have the first offical casting for the movie, Dr. Loomis, originally played by the late great Donald Pleasance, will now be played by Malcolm McDowell, the infamous Alex Delarge from Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange. While an odd selection for the role if you ask me (I think Ben Kingsley would have been a better choice) I have faith in Rob Zombie that he won't screw this up. On Rob's Myspace blog, he had this to say about Mcdowell

"Well, the wait is over. Dr. Loomis is none other than the great MALCOLM McDOWELL! I am thrilled to have Malcolm on board. He is ready to kick ass and make a new horror classic."

Also announced was who would be playing the Adult Michael Myers and this is one thing I really don't agree with. Tyler Mane who Zombie previously worked with on THE DEVILS REJECTS (He was Rufus Jr) has decided to cast him as the white faced killer. This is what his blog said

"I'm sure you all remember Tyler as Rufus from The Devil's Rejects, Sabretooth in the X-Men and the unstoppable Ajax in Troy.

Tyler is mean, lean and ready to bring you the most psychotic Michael Myers yet."

While I think he will be relentless in that role, my look of Myers will always be that ordinary and thin version Carpenter instilled in our minds from the original film. I never liked the sequels when Myers had muscles, body fat and whatnot. To me, it turned him into a cliche Jason or something. Oh well, I shall keep you updated on the news for the movie. Word still floating around about Danielle Harris, best known as little Jamie from Halloween 4 and 5, would be playing Jamie Lee Curtis' role of Laurie Strode but when I asked her about it at Rock And Shock, she had no idea she was even rumored to be in it. With still Laurie Strode's role to be cast as well as the rest of the cast, one begins to wonder how close it will be to the original. Will Zombie actually make a successful remake that will be a good film as well as respect the original? It's so hard to say or comprehend that film being remade. Production begins shortly with a August 31, 2007 release.

The only other casting news is that of who will be playing little Michael Myers and that is young Daeg Faerch who has been in a few movies. Here is a picture of him for you to enjoy!

Enjoy folks! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

BLOCKBUSTER LAUNCHES TOTALLY NEW WAY TO RENT MOVIES: INTRODUCING BLOCKBUSTER TOTAL ACCESS™

Blockbuster exclusive: Online subscribers can exchange DVDs through mail or for free in-store movie rentals
Subscribers can get more movies, faster

DALLAS, Nov. 1, 2006 – Blockbuster Inc. (NYSE: BBI, BBI.B) today announced that it is giving online renters unprecedented access to movies through the introduction of BLOCKBUSTER Total Access™, a movie rental program that gives online customers the option of returning their DVDs through the mail or exchanging them at more than 5,000 participating BLOCKBUSTER® stores for free in-store movie rentals. The new program, available only from Blockbuster, means Total Access subscribers don’t need to wait to get DVDs through the mail, essentially allowing them to double the number of movies they can access each month.

To view the Multimedia News Release, go to:
http://prnewswire.com/mnr/blockbuster/25964/

“Until today, no online rental service offered customers the option of returning their movies to the store and exchanging them for free movie rentals, and there is no other store-based retailer that offers customers the convenience and the selection of the more than 60,000 titles available through our online service,” said Blockbuster Chairman and CEO John Antioco. “Customers shouldn’t have to choose between renting online versus in-store, and they should never have to be without a movie. Now, thanks to Blockbuster Total Access, they don’t have to.” Beginning today, Wednesday, Nov. 1, Blockbuster will automatically upgrade all current and new online rental subscribers to the Blockbuster Total Access program at no extra cost, immediately giving them the option of mailing back their online movies, exchanging them at any participating Blockbuster store, or a combination of the two. For each online rental exchanged in the store, customers can receive a free in-store movie rental. Subscribers to Blockbuster’s lower-priced $5.99 and $7.99 plans will also be included in the Total Access program and will be able to exchange their online DVDs for free in-store movie rentals.

Another feature Blockbuster Total Access offers subscribers is a faster shipping cycle. When subscribers return their online rentals to a participating Blockbuster store, the store check-in process automatically initiates the shipment of the next available movie(s) in the subscriber’s rental queue, whether they take advantage of the in-store exchange option or not. That means Total Access customers generally will get their online movie(s) a day faster than if they had dropped the return movies in the mail.

In addition to being able to exchange online rentals at participating Blockbuster stores for free movie rentals, Blockbuster Total Access customers will also receive a free in-store rental coupon each month. Subscribers can use the monthly rental coupon in the same visit with their in-store exchanges for another free movie, or by itself if they have already returned their DVDs through the mail or just aren’t ready to return their online rentals yet. More good news is that movies received through the in-store exchange option or with the rental coupon do not count against the total number of DVDs an online customer can have out at any one time per their subscription plan. In-store movies are still subject to store rental terms, including due dates, and must be returned to the store from which they were rented. Another added convenience is that customers can now sign up for Blockbuster’s online rental service right in the stores. With the launch of the Blockbuster Total Access program, almost all participating Blockbuster stores will have online wireless access, so store personnel can sign up new subscribers on the spot. “Our research has shown that Blockbuster Total Access appeals strongly to online customers as well as to store-based customers who want to be able to rent movies both ways,” said Antioco. “As a result, we believe Total Access will help us achieve our goal of two million subscribers by year-end, position us to grow our subscriber base in the future and assist us in increasing our share of the overall rental market.” As of the end of September, Blockbuster had approximately 1.5 million online subscribers, a year-over-year increase in its subscriber base of 50 percent, which included some 100,000 trial subscribers at quarter-end who subsequently converted to paying members. During the third quarter, the company added approximately 150,000 net subscribers.

With more than 60,000 titles to choose from online, Blockbuster delivers DVDs right to subscribers’ mailboxes in return-pre-paid postage envelopes. There are no due dates or late fees with movies rented from Blockbuster’s online rental service, and subscription plans start as low as $5.99 a month, with the $17.99 three-out unlimited movie plan being the most popular. A two-week free trial membership to Blockbuster Total Access is available for a limited time, including to those customers who have previously tried Blockbuster’s online rental service but are not currently subscribing to the service. Visit www.blockbuster.com for details.

A month from now, I will have a review of the service for you for I am testing it out as we speak, be sure to check back for that!

My Name Is Bruce FIRST PHOTOS!

We all know how much I love Bruce Campbell so when I heard they were doing a movie about him saving the world as himself, you know I went into a super fan boy mode and went on a world wide web search for any possible info I could find on the project! Thus far, there isn't much to report except the synopsis and a PHOTO from the movie. Yes, that whacky photo you see before you is from this movie! Bruce apparently enjoys dancing in Hawiann shirts and putting his hands toward the camera for publicity shoots. Hey, it worked well for BUBBA HO TEP didn't it? So what is it about?

My Name Is Bruce is being produced by Dark Horse Indie, the new joint venture production company created by Dark Horse Entertainment and Image Entertainment. Popular actor and Oregon resident Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Army of Darkness) is set to star and direct. He will also produce the project with another Oregon resident, Dark Horse president Mike Richardson.

My Name Is Bruce is the tale of a small town set upon by demons after a group of teen-agers unwittingly unleash an ancient curse. Campbell, playing himself, is kidnapped off the set of a B horror movie and, despite his protestations that he's just an actor, is forced to play the role of his heroic movie character in order to save the town. Mark Verheiden (The Mask, TimeCop) is writing the screenplay. Production is scheduled for early 2006 in southern Oregon.

"A small town, plagued by an ancient curse, makes the horrible mistake of recruiting a genre actor to help, thinking that his movie skills would apply. They don't. Be afraid, be very afraid." -BC

Bruce is writing, starring and directing this epic movie that will no doubt be the greatest movie ever made, and it will be seen by the world sometime in 2007! We will be waiting!

Finally, we have the indie film, ALONE WITH HER starring Colin Hanks (King Kong) hits the IFC theatre in New York simultaneously with Video On Demand on January 17th!

Alone With Her
is shot through the eyes and camera lenses of a young man (Doug, played by Colin Hanks) who begins to stalk a beautiful woman (Amy, played by Ana Claudia Talancón). He watches her every action and slowly manipulates her into a relationship. Chilling and creepy, writer/director Eric Nicholas has created a psychological look into an obsessive love-affair and its destructive effects. The film is ingeniously shot through the perspective of the stalker by cinematographer Nathan Wilson.

Spider Man 3 Starring BRUCE CAMPBELL!

So I know you all have known that all the small cameo's by Bruce in Sam's movies would some day pay off right? Like if Sam made it big, he would bring his old buddy Bruce to the lime light with him huh!? Well after his pivotal roles in Spider man as RING ANNOUNCER (the man who names Spider man) and in SPIDER MAN 2 as SNOOTY USHER (only person to STOP Spider man) we knew that they were leading to something big!!! Venom? Naah! Mysterio!? Mysteriously negative. How about the long rumored role of LIZARD MAN!!! Well...we aren't exactly sure yet but this is what Bruce had to say on the matter!

"All the Sony lawyers will let me say is that I once again have a pivotal role in the movie and that this time, Spider-man and I team up!" -BC

There you have it folks! Peter Parker and a Ring Announcer who got demoted to being a  Snooty Usher will team up to fight crime! Sounds like a great movie to me folks! It suuuuuuuuure does! We shall keep you posted!

From James who got this from IGN.com~ What is Sam Raimi Doing? IGN has learned that several pulp heroes of yesteryear will be brought to life on the big-screen courtesy of none other than Dark Man and Spider-Man filmmaker Sam Raimi. The project would unite a number of famous pulp heroes from Street and Smith Publications, which had once been among the top pulp publishers.

Characters that we were informed would be included in the film are Doc Savage, The Shadow and The Avenger, and quite possibly other (or all) major Street and Smith characters. Street and Smith's titles included The Wizard & Cash Gorman, Crime Busters, The Skipper, The Whisperer, Bill Barnes Air Trails, Nick Carter Magazine, Pete Rice Magazine and Unknown, as well as other crime and Western books.

Additional sources advised us that Raimi is directing the project, which IGN was told would be written by a screenwriter named Siavash Farahani (Ingenue). Farahani, we were also advised, wrote a screenplay for a big-screen version of the CrossGen comic Ruse for Disney.

The Shadow was previously brought to the screen in 1994 with Alec Baldwin as the title character. A Doc Savage movie had long been in-development, attracting the likes of Arnold Schwarzeneggar, James Cameron and Frank Darabont at various points.

Back from Vacation with some interesting news...

So while I was on vacation after a hellish October, (October is my favorite and most busy month, by the end, I am burnt out) I heard quite a few interesting things on films going around. We have a TON of news here for you people from James, myself and guest news reporter Mike Pearson who most of you may remember was working on my movie THE KILLING GROUND (Hey! I remember the Killing Ground! What ever happened to that!?) ::cough:: yeah! So with no futher procrastinating...here is the news!

First off, after hearing this from Mike, I decided to look deeper into the latest REMAKE rumor and I got word from a person close to Clive Barker that he intends on remaking HELLRAISER! Yes HELLRAISER is going to be remade by Clive himself, Barker will write the screenplay and serve as a producer. Anthony Diblasi and Joe Daley will co-produce the remake. No director nor cast has been signed on at this time and if my talk with Doug Bradley is any indication as to his involvement..."There are no plans that I am aware of, for me to be playing Pinhead" So could this mean that someone new will be dawning the legendary lead Cenobite? Keep in mind, Dimension Films is behind this so...time will only tell as to how well this is done.

Also from Mike is the first actual trailer from our favorite british film makers! YES! Mike sent me the link for the trailer for HOT FUZZ, Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg's and Nick Frost's follow up to SHAUN OF THE DEAD and it's fucking hysterical! The story goes like this, "Jealous colleagues conspire to get a top London cop (Pegg) transferred to a small town and paired with a witless new partner (Frost). On the beat, the pair stumble upon a series of suspicious accidents and events" The movie is set for a February 16th release so you know we all will be there. Shaun of the Dead was by far the funniest film I had seen in years and the best horror comedy I had ever seen. To say we here at KICK ASS HORROR REVIEWS are excited to see this, is like saying  the Sahara Desert is humid. More to come! So click here to watch it!

Next, I was sent a lot of news from Dr. Uwe Boll on his upcoming movie POSTAL along with the first official clip FROM the movie POSTAL,  some news on BLOODRAYNE 2, and a message to everyone out there. First let's get to the plot summary of Postal which is based on RUNNING WITH SCISSORS hit PC game, POSTAL 2.

POSTAL is insulting, irreverent, politically incorrect and funny as hell.

POSTAL follows two days in the life of the Postal Dude, in the regrettably named town of Paradise.  Just when he thinks he has hit rock bottom, things get worse.

Sharing a trailer with his ever-expanding wife, Bitch, Dude is in a bad way.  After a humiliating job interview and a nearly lethal trip to the welfare office, Dude finds himself on the doorstep of his Uncle Dave.  Despite being the successful leader of the town cult, Dave is also finding himself in financial difficulties.  Together, Dude and Dave hatch a plan to steal some valuable merchandise.  Unfortunately for them, the much better organized and much better equipped Taliban has converged on Paradise for more sinister reasons.   Things spiral out of control when Osama Bin Laden is forced to call in his friend George W Bush as back up.  Few are left standing by the time Dude turns his back on Paradise.

Dude quickly learns how liberating it can be when there is nothing left to lose.   He learns never to trust a messiah, especially when that messiah has written his own bible.  He learns that you can find love in the most unlikely places, even when the object of your affections is holding a gun to your head.  Most importantly, he learns that there is nothing that a well timed nuclear explosion can’t solve.

That is the synopsis of the movie, and here is the clip from it! http://www.postal-the-movie.com/clip1.html

Uwe also sent me a link to an AOL interview that he was a part of, something that give alot of incite to DUNGEON SIEGE, POSTAL, and his new sequel to BLOODRAYNE, BLOODRAYNE II: DELIVERANCE. So click here to read up on it!

PLUS Uwe has sent out a personal message to BOLL FANS as well as BOLL HATERS, this is his own words, not mine.

"To all my haters etc. ...  !  I don't have rich parents. I don't have contacts to Hollywood. I worked my way up and I worked hard.
I know you don't like HOUSE OF THE DEAD , ALONE IN THE DARK and BLOODRAYNE  - but do me one favor - the only favor you ever do me in your life:   Please, give POSTAL and IN THE NAME OF THE KING  a fighting chance. Before you trash me further - wait till these movies come out and see it OBJECTIVELY (try it at least)   - give it a shot. And then judge and write what you want. If afterword, you think, if you feel: this was it, this was actually a fucking great movie - but its from Uwe so I cannot write positive feedback - then jump over your own shadow and support the movie.
I need support. I have been fighting for 7 years against the Hollywood System with all the dick talkers, assholes and thieves in Beverly Hills. And if I actually make a great movie - then its on YOU to have the balls to help me with your voice, your vote, your article.

Thank you, Uwe Boll"

Now I want to say something myself about this whole thing. I first came into contact with Dr. Boll when I saw HOUSE OF THE DEAD in theatres and to anyone who has visited this site will recall my utter hatred for that movie. I threatened Uwe's life in the review several times and if you don't believe me, read the review here. When I asked Uwe for an interview though, he read that review and even after seeing the mean things I said, STILL did the interview with me which was really big of him. Later on, when ALONE IN THE DARK came out, I gave him a fair chance and I went into that movie open minded. ALONE IN THE DARK was a flawed movie but it was still a step up from HOUSE OF THE DEAD and I gave him a FAIR review for that movie. Uwe later on offered me an oppurtunity, a chance to come up to Vancouver and help re-edit HOUSE OF THE DEAD into a funny version, he offered to pay for my flight and stay and what not so I of course agreed to go.

When I arrived in Vancouver, I spent a week hanging out at BRIGHTLIGHT STUDIO's where he was working hard on pre-production work for DUNGEON SIEGE, got to meet the man behind all the movies and all the press. The man I had threatened to kill if he ever made a sequel to HOUSE OF THE DEAD. What I found out was that Uwe is first off, a really intelligent person who knows A TON about film and movies. People make fun of his spelling errors but keep in mind, English is not his first langauge, the man spoke great english in person, he may in fact be the single kindest person in the industry. This is a man who actually CARES about what his fans think, he responds to emails, reads message boards and takes interest in what other people think. If you ask ANY actor who has ever worked with him, you will hear only the best of things from them about Dr. Boll and that is because he isn't the BOLL HATERS have made him out to be. He isn't some moron who has connections every place, he isn't some hollywood kiss ass, and no, he is NOT some made up character people created like the Boogeyman or Patrick Duffy! He is someone who has been making movies, raising his own money for years and has made it. He shares the spotlight with people who threaten him, he puts people who bash him left and right into movies like POSTAL and only asks for a FAIR chance. Not 300 negative posts on IMDB about his movie when only 150 people were at a test screening of which the majority of people who attended enjoyed it!

I was once someone who damned the name UWE BOLL and yes, hoped he died and what not. When I left Vancouver and met the man behind all this, I couldn't believe I had ever thought those things. Let's face it NO director is perfect, they all have bad movies! Wes Craven has CURSED, Tobe Hooper has CROCODILE,  Roland Emmerich has GODZILLA (1998), Wolfgang Peterson has POSIEDON (2006), in the end, everyone gives these guys another chance. Uwe is only asking for the same thing with his upcoming films, he isn't asking for you to go out and lie and say you love it if you don't. He isn't asking you to go and say he is the next Steven Spielberg, all he is asking is that you give his upcoming movies, POSTAL, IN THE NAME OF THE KING, and SEED a fighting chance! Don't go in pre-hating the movie, or bashing him before you see it. Myself, I personally enjoyed Bloodrayne for what it was, a FUN movie with tons of gore, nice visuals, and a steamy sex scene. So give the guy a chance will ya? If someone like me can give him a chance, so can you. That's all I wanted to say.

The following  news segment is brought to you by JAMES TEVLIN:

Hostel: Part II
The Hostel Part 2 site is now up and running. You can check it out at www.hostel2.com. While studying art in Rome for the summer, three young American women (German, Matarazzo, Phillips) are lured away to a Slovakian hostel by a model from their class. 28 Weeks Sooner
May 11, 2007 is the release date for the Sequel. Danny Boyle, Alex Garland and Andrew Macdonald are back together and lead by director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo in this exciting film that takes place six months after the rage virus has annihilated the British Isles. The US Army declares that the war against infection has been won, and that the reconstruction of the country can begin. In the first wave of returning refugees, a family is reunited, but one of them unwittingly carries a terrible secret. The virus is not yet dead, and this time, it is more dangerous than ever. The team over at fox atomic has released some raw footage and clips that look neat. Check em' out by clicking here!

The Rage is coming
A crazed scientist experimenting with a rage virus on innocent victims in a laboratory in the woods. When his monstrous subjects escape and vultures devour their remains, they became mutations seeking to feed on humans. With a long list of great horror names linked or involved in this project, I can't wait to see the final results. Over at www.theragefilm.com you can check out the teaser and read more about it.

Plane Dead more like Lame Dead
RELEASE DATE: 2007

Seems strange to me that this movie resembles ideas that have been floating around Romero for a few years. With projects like Red Eye (same title as the Craven film…different movie) and Diamond Dead that involved rock-band-zombies and criminal-prisoner zombies both on flights, I like how original this film was in using the exact same idea. Apparent snakes aren't the only thing to worry about these days. Despite my unhappiness surrounding the Romero rip off, the trailer doesn't look too bad. (I guess you can shoot automatic machine guns on planes and nothing will happen) But either way, you can see for yourself over at www.planedeadthemovie.com. It doesn't look too too bad even with such a terrible poster art.

Diary of Diary of the Dead
Over at BD, they have somehow managed to break pictures and a short production diary that was on myspace. After their near catastrophe of Romero's hospital visit I'm shocked they wanted to touch this story without press released signed and stamped with approval of Romero or Roe. But to any extent, if you check out http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/7592 and http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/7656 you will be able to see some nice picture and raw footage of what might be Diary. But take this with a grain of salt.

The Hills Have Eyes 2 footage.

RELEASE DATE: March 2, 2007

The film will revolve around a team of National Guard cadets that stop at a desert outpost to deliver equipment to military scientists, but when they arrive at the research camp they discover that it's mysteriously deserted. After hearing a distress call on their walkies, they set off on what they think is a simple rescue mission into the hills - only to find a tribe of mutants, damaged by nuclear testing, who lie in wait for them. Again, over at FOX ATOMICS  you can see some nice clips of the upcoming film. In addition to this, it appears that the poster had been rejected by the MPAA. A nice little prechristmas buzz hasn't hurt any film now has it?

Grindhouse trailer

If you watched the Devils Rejects Awards…errr rather The Scream Awards, you would have seen the world premiere trailer for Grindhouse. If no, then click here
Uploaded the clip and you can watch it there. I'm sure youtube has it too…but this is just easier.

SYNOPSIS

Last January, writer/director Eli Roth terrified moviegoers with the blood-drenched HOSTEL, which catapulted to the top of the box office charts and became the first Number One film of 2006.   One year later, Roth takes us back to where it all began, and deeper into the darkest recesses of the human mind.
In HOSTEL: PART II, three young Americans studying in Rome set off for a weekend trip when they run into a beautiful model from one of their art classes. Also on her way to an exotic destination, the gorgeous European invites the coeds to come along, assuring them they will be able to relax and rejuvenate.
Will the girls find the oasis they are looking for?  Or are they poised to become victims for hire, pawns in the fantasies of the sick and privileged from around the world who secretly travel here to savor more grisly pursuits?
With Hostel, Eli Roth cemented the cutting-edge credentials he earned with his debut feature Cabin Fever (2002).  In HOSTEL: PART II, Roth invites fans to take another frightening trip where suppressed urges – once unleashed – have chilling consequences.

I personally wasn't a big fan of the original Hostel, film was half EUROTRIP, half GORE and thats it. I felt very let down with the film that people were ranting on and on about being the MOST INTENSE FILM OF ALL TIME. Personally, i'm not to excited to see this but hey, it's horror so I will be there.

DAY OF THE DEAD REMAKE TRAILER:

Thanks to James, I got a trailer for the new remake from DAY OF THE DEAD and when he first sent it to me, I began watching it. I paused it and asked him why he sent me a trailer for RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD 5: NECROPOLIS...he then told me it wasn't and to keep watching. Sure enough VING RHAMES appears, then Mena Suvari...then...Nick Cannon showed his ugly face and yeah...this movie will suck. Well, without any further ado, here is the DAY OF THE DEAD REMAKE trailer

Another Big Ass Update Courtesy of James!

Extinction Delayed
Sony Screen Gems have just announced that Resident Evil: Extinction will now hit theaters September 21st, 2007. Milla Jovovich is back as Alice, and she's running with a new pack of humans, leading a caravan that's cutting through the Nevada desert on a long trek to Alaska. Hunted by the minions of the perpetually scheming Dr. Isaacs, Alice has zombies hungry for her flesh (once again) and lab rats hungry for her blood -- while Alice is hungry for only one thing: revenge. As a big fan of the franchise, I?m excited that news keeps sneaking out about the release but wearing that these set backs will only lead to more problems.

Everyone's entitled to one good scare.
But on October 30th and 31st, HALLOWEEN will have another chance to do it in theaters. Don't miss two nights of Halloween terror featuring the horror classic that started it all - the original Halloween - on the Big Screen! Plus, catch exclusive interviews with cast members of the original horror classic and the filmmakers of the next Halloween, including Rob Zombie - seen only at this two-night event. In Select Movie Theatres nationwide on Oct. 30 and 31 at 8pm local. For details, check out? http://www.bigscreenboxoffice.com/subpage/index.asp?EventID=608

Are there nightmares on other streets too?
Well, according to Fango, there just might be with the release of John McNaughton's Masters of Horror DVD hitting the shelves soon.
Fangoria writes:

Director John (HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER) McNaughton?s name has been attached to a NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET prequel for quite some time now, but no news has been heard about the project for months. So Fango asked McNaughton (whose MASTERS OF HORROR entry HAECKEL?S TALE hits DVD November 14 from Anchor Bay) what was up. ?Well, [New Line and I] talked about it, and I?m still waiting to hear back from them,? he says. ?They approached me because of HENRY, since they want to make a serious film about Freddy Krueger and his early days as a school janitor. Freddy?s just a living person at that point, and this would seem more like a real story. It wouldn?t be supernatural, and it will recount the days when he used to kidnap young girls?and actually also boys?to rape and murder them.?

While both McNaughton and New Line seem to have a pretty good idea of what they want from the film, a script still has yet to be written. ?This process obviously takes a long time and there?s no actual screenplay yet, just an idea of what the movie should be about. Let?s say I haven?t recieved the check yet,? the director laughs. ?However, I do have a writer in mind whom I would like to write the new NIGHTMARE: His name is R.J. Tsarov, and he wrote the stage play I just directed. He's a true talent and has a very original vision.?

Even if you don't get what you want this year for Christmas?at least you can buy the horror dvds you want the day after!!
Lionsgate Home Entertainment will release The Descent on December 26th, the day after Jesus? birthday. Available in separate anamorphic widescreen and fullscreen 99-min. uncut editions, director Neil Marshall's bloody great horror film arrives with both Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 tracks. Now even if you weren?t the biggest fan of the film?there will be plenty of extras including an audio commentary with Marshall and crew, a second commentary with Marshall and cast, deleted & extended scenes, outtakes, "Making of 'The Descent'" documentary, "DesEnding" Interview with Director Neil Marshall, Storyboard and Scene Comparisons, still gallery, bios and trailers. SO don?t worry too much about this holiday season with a gift like that coming the 26th.

Pumpkins in October
Although Halloween and the fall are a time to carve pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns, that isn?t the only pumpkin to take not of this month. Sci-Fi will once again continue their reputation of showing sequels of movies that probably aren?t that good. Coming October 28th at 9PM eastern time, Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes. Despite being very unexcited for the event?I?ll watch it. So, what?!?!?I like horror movies.

AvP: Survival of the fittest news.
Casting of the new sequel is making its way around the net. Apparently, Reiko Aylesworth (TV's 24) and Steven Pasquale (TV's RESCUE ME) have been cast as the two main leads in ALIEN VS PREDATOR: SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST, which begins filming this week in Vancouver, BC. The film is set to be directed by Greg and Colin Strause and written by Shane Salerno. Additional roles will be filled by John Ortiz, Miami Vice, will be playing the fairly large role of Morales, Johnny Lewis (The OC), David Hornsby (Six Feet Under) and Gina Holden. The film hits theaters December 10, 2007, just in time to ruin the month of December.

Weinstein Co. and Dimension Films new favorite horror distributor?
The companies have purchased the newest script from the writers of FEAST, Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. Midnight Man will call for the directorial debut of writer Dunstan and will centers on an ex-con who is in desperate need of money to pay off his ex-wife to prevent her from leaving town with their daughter. When he breaks into the country home of his wealthy employer in an effort to steal a valuable jewel, he realizes that his family has been abducted by a masked killer who has rigged the house with deadly traps.

The Hills Still Have Eyes

Fox Atomic has finalized the cast for Hills Have Eyes 2, coming to theaters May, 2007. Wes Craven and his son have been reported to be directing it. The cast includes Derek Mear and Michael ?A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child? Bailey Smith as well as Michael McMillian, Jessica Stroup, Daniella ?Wrong Turn 2? Alonso, Lee Thompson Young, Ben Crowley, Eric Edelstein, Reshad Strik, David Reynolds, Tyrell Kemlo, Javier Nieto, G?sp?r Szab?, Jeff Kober and Jay Acovone.

The Mummy 3? Who Cares?

It has been reported that Brendan Fraser will reprise his role as Rick O?Connell in Alfred ?Herbie Fully Loaded? Gough?s screenplay. The studio has made an offer to Joe Johnston, to direct. Oh boy, I can?t wait!!

Planet Terror+Death Proof=GRIND HOUSE?aka?Going to be amazing.

Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino?s double features are beginning to come together.(Pun intended). Rodriguez's movie is called PLANET TERROR, while Tarantino?s movie is DEATH PROOF. In addition to the previously noted cast Kurt Russell and Zoe Bell, Rosario Dawson, Vanessa Ferlito, Jordan Ladd, Rose McGowan, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Marley Shelton, Tracie Thoms and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Tarantino has cast ELI ?CABIN FEVER? ROTH, Michael Bacall and Omar Doom. The cast for Rodriguez's PLANET TERROR has been announced to be Freddy Rodriguez, Rose McGowan, Josh Brolin, Naveen Andrews, Marley Shelton, Michael Biehn, Fergie, Jeff Fahey, and Michael Parks. GRINDHOUSE is being shot in the tradition of the 70?s exploitation films that have influenced both Rodriguez and Tarantino and can often be seen somewhat in their previous films. Tarantino began shooting DEATH PROOF in Austin, Texas on August 21st and it was reported that Rodriguez recently completed principal photography on PLANET TERROR. Coming Easter weekend, April 6, 2007.

When there?s no more room in hell?the dead will walk in?Canada.

It was reported that Diary of the Dead will be shot in Ontario, Canada, very similar to how LOTD was shot. Sorry PA!! I?m sure Romero hasn?t forgotten about you. This comes after Romero?s slight frustration with working in that system and desire to return to the independent horror scene.? The story is set to follow a group of college students shooting a horror movie in the woods who stumble upon a real zombie uprising. When the onslaught begins, they seize the moment as any good film students would, capturing the undead in a "cinema verite" style. This is a style of filmmaking, combining naturalistic techniques that originated in documentary filmmaking, with the storytelling elements typical of a scripted film. It is also known for taking a provocative stance toward its topics. The name is French and means, roughly, "cinema of truth". The movie will be produced by Romero-Grunwald Productions together with Artfire Films. Worldwide sales rights have been picked up by Voltage Pictures. Great news for horror fans that after a 15+ year run without a Romero Zombie film (Real Zombie Film), we?re being hit twice in such a short time.?

STRIKE ENTERTAINMENT SET TO FILM PREQUEL TO THE THING

Strike Entertainment ("Dawn of the Dead" remake) are planning a prequel to John Carpenter's "The Thing". The company is searching for a writer (or writers) to pen the screenplay.

28 Weeks Later Cast Complete!

28 Weeks Later, Principle Photography has began on the film in London. The cast will be led by Robert Carlyle; Rose Byrne; Jeremy Renner; Harold Perrineau; Catherine McCormack; Imogen Poots and Idris Elba. Joining as well as, twelve-year-old Mackintosh Muggleton making his feature film debut. The movie is set six months after the rage virus has annihilated the British Isles. The US Army declares that the war against infection has been won, and that the reconstruction of the country can begin. In the first wave of returning refugees, a family is reunited -- but one of them unwittingly carries a terrible secret. The virus is not yet dead, and this time, it is more dangerous than ever.

Fido Clip!!!

Starring Carrie-Anne Moss and Billy Connolly and being released by Lionsgate Films this year, Fido clips finally hit the web.
Welcome to Willard, a small town lost in the idyllic world of the 50's, where the sun shines every day, everybody knows their neighbor, and rotting zombies deliver the mail.
Years ago, the earth passed through a cloud of space dust, causing the dead to rise with a craving for human flesh. A war began, pitting the living against the dead. In the ensuing revolution, a corporation was born: ZomCon, who defeated the legions of undead, and domesticated the zombies, making them our industrial workers, our domestic servants - a productive part of society. ZomCon would like the people of Willard to believe they have everything under control? but do they?
Timmy Robinson doesn't think so. At eleven, Timmy already knows the world is phony baloney - Mom and Dad just won't admit it. Now ZomCon's head of security has moved in across the street, and Timmy's Mom refuses to be the only housewife on the block who doesn't have a zombie of her own. When she brings a zombie servant home, Timmy discovers a new best friend, and names him Fido. And even though Dad has a bad case of zombie-phobia, Timmy is determined to keep Fido, even if he does eat the odd person...
Sometimes, it takes a dead man to teach us all what it means to be alive.

Like it or not, the Dead?s Day is coming again?sooner than you think.

Screenwriter Jeff, ?Final Destination? Reddick and director Steve ?H20? Minor?s remake of the 1985 zombie flick DAY OF THE DEAD has just wrapped filming in Bulgaria. And as a celebratory gift, released a few sneak peek pics to FANGORIA

Day isn?t the only Romero zombie project on the table.

?

Zombie fans will be happy to hear that Variety recently published the news that George A. Romero will return to the big screen once again with the genre he created and take the director?s chair one more time for Diary of the Dead.

George A. Romero will write and direct George Romero's
