Bruce Campbell
Oh it's the man behind the sarcastic, one-liner spewing, ass-kicking horror legend. Yes folks, the king himself Bruce Campbell! The man is a legend among horror fans and it's an honor to interview him. So what has Bruce been up to you may ask? He has been extremely busy almost never a dull moment...let's find out what he has to say shall we?
Marcus:: Wow, the great Bruce Campbell, my
personal favorite actor, tell me, what is the real Bruce Campbell like behind
the scenes?
Bruce:: Everything and nothing. I live a pretty low-key life, outside the mayhem of Hollywood. I mostly work on my property when I'm not working.
Marcus:: A
lot of rumors have been flying around about you reprising your role as the
zombie ass kicking, one liner totting Ash to combat Freddy and Jason. Has this
news circled back to you and if so, is this horror fans dream come true or yet
another rumor that belongs with the likes of Evil Dead 4 and Lizard man?
Bruce:: It's a rumor that is currently shape-shifting, and that's all I can say about it.
Marcus:: You have been a lot of characters,
Ash, Brisco County Jr(my
personal
favorite), Autolycus....which are your favorite characters and why?
Bruce:: I like the guys you can stay with for a while, and get used to, like all of the above, because I got to play the character over a period of time. Movies can be sad, because just when you start to get a character right, it ends.
Marcus:: Bubba Ho-Tep is making some nice
scratch at the box office. Did
you expect it to be this popular?
Bruce:: Not sure about "expect," but I had certainly hoped so. Don Coscarelli and I were convinced that there was a place for a whacked out, counter-culture flick.
Marcus:: What was it like playing the
"King" since you are "the king" and working with Dan
Cascrelli?
Bruce:: Don was great because he knew what he wanted and he took his time. Being Elvis was fun, because he's a great, conflicted character, but the 2.5 hours of make-up per day sucked.
Marcus:: You are starring in a new film directed
by Lucky McKee, who made the movie "MAY" which got great critical
praise. What can you tell us about "The Woods" as far as story,
characters, and inside info?
Bruce:: The Woods will be really cool. Lucky is an off-beat director, and he did some interesting stuff. I can't wait. Fear the woods!
Marcus:: You have a very close bond with your
fans, you even made a documentary "Fanalysis" In it, you said you are
fascinated by your fans, what is it about them that intrigues you?
Bruce:: It's more about the whole "celebrity" thing that interested me - why do people care what so-and-so eats, or wears? It's funny and infurating at the same time.
Marcus:: You have been hard at work writing your
second book, "Making Love The Bruce Campbell Way" What can you
tell us about it?
Bruce:: Technically, it's "Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way." It's a humor book, fiction thankfully, and I hope to tour with it in the first part of '05.
Marcus:: For years, "The Man with the
Screaming Brain" has been an on again, off again
project but now it looks
like it might actually become reality. Is this true and if it is, what can you
tell us about this project?
Bruce:: Yeah, it's actually going to get made this time. We're shooting in Bulgaria in the Spring. I'm excited, because I'm going to embrace the whole Eastern Europe thing and fold it into the scary story. It should premiere on the Sci Fi channel in '04 or '05.
Marcus:: You have made 2 video games reprising
the role of Ash with Evil
Dead: Hail to the King, and Evil Dead: Fistful of
Boomstick, what was it like going back to the ol' chainsaw wearing ass kicker?
Will there be another video game to continue the saga?
Bruce:: There will indeed be another ED game - a whole new ballgame. Watch in '05 for that! Ash is always fun to go back to, because he's such an idiot.
Marcus:: Have anything you would like to say to the millions of fans out there?
Bruce:: Yes - shop smart!
There you have it folks!
