My Rating:

Not having much to go on aside from a couple of stills and a plot summary, I went into this movie totally blinded. I honestly had no idea what kind of film it was, what it was really about, or even who was in it!  ALONE WITH HER is artsy but it is also very well done. The movie shows the extreme nature of a stalker in such a way that it puts the viewer in the room with these people. While this movie may not be a film for everyone, for the majority it is a must see. ALONE WITH HER is a haunting film that leaves you with an uneasy feeling at the pit of your stomach and may even have you questioning your own safety.

The movie focuses on a hot Spanish girl named Amy.  Her house is covered in hidden surveillance cameras while an unknown stalker watches from his computer desk. He watches her sleep, he watches her eat, he watches her shower, he hears all her conversations, and he knows her every move. The stalker, however, doesn’t stop there. He begins to slowly study her and find ways to interact with her through "random" encounters. She thinks he is just a guy with similar interests but little does she know how dangerous he really is.

I must say how impressed I was with this movie for taking a chance with the directing style. The film is seen through a "surveillance camera" perspective. It is told in complete voyeur vision that makes it feel so much more realistic and so much more eerie. My only complaint is that due to the directing style, the final 3 minutes of the film are kind of ruined. I can't explain it without ruining the movie, so you will just have to see it when it opens at the IFC Theatre in New York City on January 17th simultaneously with Video On Demand. Trust me it's worth the wait and worth checking out. This movie will leave a lasting impression on you that will send shivers up and down your spine for days to come.

Ana Claudia Talacon was great as Amy, giving off a realistic performance that makes you wonder if you are watching an actor or an actual surveillance camera. Colin Hanks gives a realistic performance as Doug, the stalker and he does it with a touch of innocence that makes him that much more human. Jordana Spiro plays Amy's friend, Jennifer, and while she isn't in it that much she does good in the part she has. Directing wise, Eric Nicolas was brilliant in his decision of making this one giant voyeur film. Shot any other way, ALONE WITH HER would have been your every day film. Nicolas shows the true nature of a stalker and does it with style and intelligence. His name will be a name to remember.

Gore wise, there isn't much in this movie aside from a couple of trickles of blood here and there. For nudity we have Ana Claudia giving us a full frontal along with some late night fun with her brush (Creative choice of items to use). The ladies get Tom Hank's son shirtless, and it's very apparent he doesn't work out.

I say, when this movie is released January 17th, be sure to check it out. It's one of those films that show’s there is still a solid indie film crowd out there with original concepts and ideas. Not just a fake "indie" group that has big named studio's backing them up. So be sure to watch ALONE WITH HER...who knows...it may just open your eyes to a world you never knew existed.

"Alone with her? Who would have ever thought the son of BIG star TOM HANKS would become a chubby stalker of a spanish chick?"
