Appearance: Hairless, although fine hair is seen on the feet, edges of the ears and tip of the tail. The body is like holding a warm peach. The head is a modified wedge with prominent whisker pads and cheekbones. They have short whiskers or none. Large upright ears. Big lemon-shaped eyes. Wrinkly face and shoulder skin. The body is medium in length with medium boning, dense muscle mass and a round, full belly. Back legs slightly longer than the front. They come in all colors and patterns.
Personality: Sweet-tempered, affectionate, intelligent, inquisitive, trusting, very friendly and playful. They will run to the door to greet visiters, rub my face and even play fetch with milk rings.
Lifestyle: Sphynxes love attention, are active. They love people and other animals. They do well as an only cat but prefer another feline.
Grooming: Sphynxes are high maintenance cats. Need to be bathed once a week. Can use baby wipes. Oily secretions stay on the skin (no hair) which collect dust and dirt. The oil collects around the cuticle area of the nails. Their ears need to be cleaned frequently because of black "gunk". If they are not cleaned weekly there is a chance of a yeast infection.
Allergy: Some people with allergies to cats can tolerate the sphynx because of the regular bathing.
