Wolverine: The End

Story: 7/10

Overall: 6.5/10
This comic has some good parts and some bad parts. Basically the story is set in the future and (as you can get from the title) it could be the end of Logan. One of Logan?s most fearsome foes dies and Logan discovers something about his past. In the comic Logan explains to his friend that every time he was injured badly in battle, his healing power took over. When this happened his memory was erased also.
That?s enough of the story for you. Now this comic could have gotten a higher rating from me but it didn?t because it was missing a key ingredient that any ?Logan Story? needs. No ?Snikt?. I mean COME ON! How can you put ?Shilch? or some crap like that in a LOGAN STORY!!! I?m not even gong to take the time to look how the word is spelled. This is a disgrace to Logan in my mind. ?Snikt? is a part of him, like his trademark. What happens when that is taken from him? It makes him nothing more than the characters of Sentinel. And we know Logan is better than that. I?ve said my piece on that so know I?ll comment on the parts I enjoyed. I thought that is was great how they showed his aging in his claws and hunting abilities. Firstly he busts open his hands when he takes out his claws. He then misses a deer, and has to push his claws back in using a tree. That?s a great way to describe his old age. All in all I would recommend picking up this because you know you want to see Logan die!

Supreme Power #4

When I picked up issue #1 of Supreme Power, it was only for two reasons: 1) Straczynski is my MAN in Amazing Spider-Man (?don?t forget the hyphen, they always forget the hyphen!?), and 2) Wizard was raving about it. I do not really like the MAX books since I think they come off as a bit forced and I was disappointed with issue 1, but I still picked up the succeeding issues just for the heck of it. I do not regret this decision, since each issue has gotten better than the previous, and issue 4 is no exception. In this issue, Marks ?Parents? want to drop out of the project, meanwhile Mark himself is trying to track down those who are similar to himself. This issue also focuses on the mutants themselves that are similar to Mark, and how they deliver justice. I actually found it amazingly interesting. Frank?s art in this comic is another great thing, it is always so fitting, and while I may not like the glossy pages marvel uses, it works for things like this. I recommend Supreme Power, it is a well made comic and I am not really sure which direction it is headed. |

Silver Surfer #2

Story: 7/10
TILT: +1 for originality
Rating: 8/10
So far I am highly impressed with these past two issues of Silver Surfer. Silver Surfer is a boring character. There isn?t too much you can do with a hero like him. So why not portray him like a villain and base the story around those he has affected. That is exactly what Mark Chariton must have thought when he decided to make this new comic. This has got to be one of the best instances of teaching an old dog new tricks of all time.
The story is based around a single mother whose daughter is mute and autistic, and she is suffering in poverty. Every day she sets up a table on the street and reads palms for cash. She lets everyone in on the fraud via narrations and you are able to feel sympathy for the main character. I feel that this is very promising sign of a good writer, when you can convey an emotion with ease. The main character (Denise) has her child (Ellie) taken away from her in the dead of the night by Silver Surfer, and that is where issue 1 ends0. Issue 2 picks up with another kid (a billionaire this time) getting kidnapped by Silver Surfer and then shifts focus on how hard living is for Denise. She is living on the streets now and is trying to contact her local newspaper concerning the billionaire?s child that was kidnapped. She wants to get her story out there because she feels it is directly related to the kidnapping of her own daughter. She goes to some sleaze balls? house to use his computer, but he is expecting something in return. There is an odd ending that hopefully will be clarified in the future, but other than that it is a promising read.
The reason I gave this comic relatively low marks is because there is nothing mediocre about the story, and the art is not amazing or anything. But the new angle that Chariton has taken is amazing and that is where the tilt came from. Don?t be fooled. Read this. NOW. |

Overall I thought this issue was very good. Although the art is slightly cartooney, I still like it. Well I have never really read Avengers for a long period of time. I have been off and on for a while now so I?m not really caught up in the story, but I thought this issue was good. The Avengers are searching for the She-Hulk because a while back they had removed her radio-active cells, but she didn?t like being normal. The Avengers confront her but somehow she had the gamma cells back and quickly turned into She-Hulk when confronted. I am very excited about continuing to read the Avengers, mostly because of the art. What I really love about the comic is the style of text used for Iron Man. I think that?s its really cool. I also really enjoyed how Johns showed Jennifer Walters emotions is this one, even though it?s about the mighty She-Hulk.
Also I thought he choose a good part to end the issue at. You know there is going to be a huge brawl through half of the next issue. Personally I feel this is better than trying to cram the fight into a few pages at the end of the comic so people don?t complain about a bad cliffhanger. I was impressed by this book and once again I am going to pick up the Avenger series for who knows how long. |

This comic is good. It is incredibly good, and goodness is dripping off of it. It has Daredevil, one of my favorite heroes, Logan, my main man, and Spider Man, who is of course an old-school PIMP. That is three cases of extreme leetness, throw in Frank Castle (so awesome he blows my mind), and you have one very, very, cool comic. It starts with Castle giving Murdock his shotgun and going to eat a hamburger. Dave shows up and is giving the guys trouble, so Castle sees an opportune moment to escape. He does this by busting Logan?s nose, dips out and heads to this mysterious auction. He busts a few slugs there, and when I say a few, I mean he almost emptied his bottomless clip. Castle then rolls out with a nice little souvenir for himself, and then comes the part I don?t like. When Castle is watching the tape and dropping his spaghetti, which is when they end it. I hate how they go for meatshots when it comes to cliffhangers. If the story was really cool (which it is), then Ennis has no fear of showing what is on the tape and trusting that people will still buy #35, solely due to its promising story. Rather, he would make sure that people want to know something that they don?t, and that is what sells. This was indeed an enjoyable issue, and I love the dirty art, how the blood is sewage brown, yet perfectly smooth. Punisher is definitely one of the most Pimped comics out there, but they should try and change the cover to something other than Castle standing in front of a skull shooting at you.
Garth Ennis is a great writer, I have enjoyed his work on Hitman and Preacher. I have to say that this stuff on Punisher is my favorite comic of his. The art in this book is great, it is not necessarily amazing art by any means, but what impresses me is how well it fits. It shouldn?t fit, with all its glossy and almost nonexistent texture and pure colors, but it still feels gritty as hell. I am looking forward to issue 35, I think that the guy in the back of the truck is Banner, since Hulk is supposed to be in this storyline also. Good comic. Read it. |
