Last year we held our second very successful sponsored obstacle course which the gymnasts thoroughly enjoyed again and raised enough money to discount the price of our new tracksuits for all participants. This year we are going to repeat the obstacle course with the intention of purchasing a new strip of floor mats.
The dates for the obstacle courses are:
As with last year there will be a prize draw for all gymnasts who return their sheets and money at the session of the obstacle course. (1 draw Wednesday, 1 draw Sunday). There will also be the usual prizes for the fastest gymnasts in each age group taking part, and the overall winner.
Monday night gymnasts who do not attend on a Wednesday are invited to choose either of these dates, and are encouraged to attend then. But if they really can’t manage either of them we will have a Sponsored “challenge” course on Monday 30 November 2009. This will be limited due to it being in the games hall but will allow the gymnasts who will gain just as much benefit aseveryone else to take part and feel they are also contributing. I am sure the coaches will come up with something really “challenging” for them!
If you have any questions please speak to any of the committee members.

We have had recent competition successes at the Fife Gymnastics Network floor and vault competition with Emma Fenton winning the Bronze Medal in the 8/9 age group, just missing first place by the tiniest of margins in a very competitive competition. In fact in this Open competition she was the only Fife gymnast to win an individual medal.
A week later the boys had an excellent day at the Scottish Mens Artistic floor and vault competition. With Greg Johnston winning Gold in the under 10 beginners, and the under 10 team of Calum, Ben, Luke and Greg also winning the team competition. Sandy Wallace again won in the Intermediate over 14, and was also first equal in the mushroom challenge. Our team of under 8 boys (Cameron, Rogan, Liam) also did very well in their first Scottish competition just missing out on the medals in fourth place.
Well done to all our gymnasts in both these competitions, you all did very well and held your own when the standards were extremely high.

For your information please see below a copy of the programme and details of the running order for the day.
Kirkcaldy Gym Club - AnnualCompetition2009 - Programme
As we have had a record entry it will be a longer competition than usual, I hope you will bear with us and assist us as much as possible in keeping the competition running along smoothly.
See in particular the note on the program about rolling warm-ups which we are going to try this year for the first time at our competition. Hopefully this will help the gymnasts and coaches in large pools and also keep the competition running as smoothly as possible.
Finally we all hope you have a great day and enjoy what we will try and make as friendly a competition as possible.
Yours in sport,
Keith Aikman

Please see below the rules and entry form for our annual competition. This year it is being held on Sunday 15th March 2009, in Kirkcaldy High School.
The committee and coaches do hope you can manage along again this year and help to make our competition as successful and enjoyable as it has been in recent ears. We do look forward to seeing you all each year in what we hope is as welcoming and relaxed an atmosphere as is possible at a competition.
The entry fees are up slightly on previous years due to many increased costs over recent years. Sorry about this but they have been the same for seven years and are still one of the cheapest. They are £7 per gymnast and £10 per team.
This year to try and stimulate an increased entry to the older boys age groups the floor for the under 12 and over 12 boys will be as the Scottish M.A. beginner and intermediate floor rules, (without the B somis for safety reasons). Any clubs who have not been involved in the construction of these boys routines previously please e-mail or telephone for any guidance and advice you may require. The vaults will be the same as the girls
competition.
If you have any questions, suggestions, require further information or clarification of any points, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail.
Yours in sport,
Keith Aikman

Annual Membership Fee
The annual membership fee of £30 is now OVERDUE, if it has not already been paid. Please make sure all gymnasts have paid this as soon as possible. The secretary is waiting for everyone to pay before registering all of our gymnasts. The membership covers insurance, membership of British Gymnastics, Scottish Gymnastics and Kirkcaldy Gymnastics Club.
Thanks to everyone who has paid promptly.
NEW Club Tracksuit
A new club tracksuit has been selected with a new KGC logo. Samples have been tried on by a selection of gymnasts and coaches so the committee could decide the range of sizes and quantities to order. The tracksuits will be a navy cotton shell, with white piping; the logo has white writing around a turquoise star. Prices have yet to be finalised by the committee.
Sponsored Obstacle Course
Following the success of the first sponsored obstacle course last year, we have decided to hold it again this year. Last year the gymnasts who took part thoroughly enjoyed it, so we will follow the same format; a challenge of a set number of laps within a time limit, completed in groups and adjusted for age and ability. Following this there will be a timed lap with a final to see who can complete it in the shortest time. This year we have added an incentive to participation. The incentive will be a discount off the price of a tracksuit for everyone handing in their sponsor sheet and money. Monday and Thursday gymnasts are welcome to take part on either the Wednesday night or Sunday afternoon sessions. The obstacle course will be held on Wednesday 19th November and Sunday 23rd November. Sponsor money should be handed in by Wednesday 26th November for the discount and to be entered into the lucky prize draw.
Monthly Standing Order Payments
Please note that standing order payments should have been set at £20 per month for each Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday session attended, from the 1st September. There still appears to be a few discrepancies in payments for October. Could everyone please check their bank statements to ensure the correct fees are being paid. If you know of or notice any problems with your standing orders please see Nancy or Elizabeth. If the standing order has not been set up in time £20 should be paid for the month.
Leotards
Club leotards for girls cost £40 for sizes/ages 5 – 13 and £45 for over 13’s. Leotards are also available for the boys. These are only essential if competitions are to be entered, but they can make a great present for Christmas or a birthday. We have ordered in new stock for the club these are expected soon.
