hi kev,
i have a 2 year old male royal python, who up to recently feeds on 4 small rats every 15 days. after his last feed he grew and this feed he ate the rats faster but still seemed to be looking for more.... its been 4 days now and he still looks like hes waiting for more.
should i feed him another rat now or just bring his next feed forward?
or should i change his food for something bigger?
and if so, what would you reccomend that i can find in pet shops in the canary islands?
hope to hear from you soon
thanks

hi
[/sarita]
sorry for not getting back to you sooner!
it all depends on the size of your snake and not it's age. but an average 2 year old python should be having a medium size rat once a week. some royal pythons are known to become obese as they will eat what ever and whenever you feed them. these snakes can go months with out eating and have been known to go over a year without eating if in a good healthy condition, so dont feel abliged to feed him too often . an obese snake isn't a happy snake and will die an early death!! The size of food item you give your snake should be no bigger then the snake at it's biggest part of his body. i live on the spainish mainland and getting hold of food for snakes here is very difficult (but buying snakes and other reptiles isn't) so i always stock up well. Dont know how easy it is to get food there? I hope this has helped!
