The mods I have done are the utility lights on the bars....reverse lights mounted in the rear fenders....Herculined the racks and the stereo....New wheels/MST tires....Viper winch....and a 1 1/2 inch lift.
The reverse light is made to come on automatically. Trying to figure out the relay wiring drove me nuts! Someone (can't remember his name) at Highlifter's site told me how to connect it. And they work great!
The lights on my bars come on with my highbeam headlights. I also have a switch installed to turn them off if needed.
Recently purchased new wheels, STI's Slashers. I've had the 25" Outlaw MSTs for close to a year. I've rode alot on the roads and have very little wear. I have yet to get stuck with the tires..so I think I made a good decision when I bought them.
About 3 months ago I installed a Viper 2500lb winch. I placed the contact block in a small project box(from radio shack) to keep the water off and mounted it near the rear of my rancher.
I coated my racks with the Herculiner brush on truck bed liner to cover and protect. It wasn't the easiest thing to do...but not hard. It's been alittle over a year now and the Herculiner is still holding up pretty good.
I made a 1 1/2 inch lift from 1/4" thick aluminum. Some have told me the brackets I made look better then some of the kits you can buy. I think it turned out great and with the brackets painted black you hardly know they are there.
When I got to test out the durability of my stereo I found several flaws. Not in the stereo itself but mostly in the speaker setup and the stereo mounting. The vibrations broke the speaker mounts the first time I got to ride for more then an hour. The main mounts for the stereo also hold the 2 lights I installed. The weight of both was to much. I replaced the thin metal for something larger and thicker. The next ride the newer speaker mounts broke. This time I used 2 3inch bolts and fastened them straight to the main mounting bar. I've beat it pretty good since and have had no issues. You can click on SOUND SYSTEM to see my plans and pics.
If everything works out for the good, hopefully I'll get to install a warn 4-2-4 in the near future.
Thanks for looking!
