Keratosis Pilaris Treatment List

Treatments That Others Have Tried - "The List"

Treatments tried by others.

Remember that everyone is diffrent, what might work for one might not work for another.  Everyone has diffrent skin types and nothing always will work for everyone.  There is  no cure for KP at this time, all we can do is hope for a little relief.

  • DO NOT PICK!!!!!
  • The most common treatment I have found is exfoliation - to scrub the surface in a circular motion to try and remove bumps.  You can do this by using a sugar or sea salt scrub, loofa, buff-puff, pumice sponge or a corse washcloth with a good moisturizing body wash.  Then follow with a good lotion for dry skin within 3 minutes of getting out of bath or shower.  This is when your pores are open and the treatment will soak in the best.
  • Retin-A prescribed by a doctor.
  • Neutrogena Multi-Vitamin Acne Treatment - use within 3 minutes of getting out of bath or shower.  This is when your pores are open and the teatment will soak in the best.
  • Adding a humidifier in your bedroom will also help to clear your skin. The moisture will hydrate your dry skin while you sleep at night and help in clearing up the keratosis pilaris.
  • Tanning - Doctor's do not suggest this at all but for some people it has helped.
  • MSM or KP Soap
  • Sulfur Soap
  • Skin Peels
  • Microdermabrasion
  • Supplement with flax seed oil, cod liver oil, or fish oil
  • Before you get in the shower, dry scrub L'oreal Exfotonic over your affected areas. Continue to scrub in the shower. Use a shower puff and clean skin with Johnson and Johnson's Body Wash (don't think it matters what body wash, as long as it's moisturising). Dry skin and spray on "Clinique's Anti-Blemish Body Treatment Spray".
  • Neutrogena Body Clear Body Scrub with a buf-puf and then Clinique acne solutions body spray (2% salicylic acid).
  • a gritty scrub, a rough buf puff, and a 2% salicylic acid treatment spray or "astringent"

  • Whenever I buy my body lotion, I put like 200ml of it in a bottle so I don't have to use the calculator; I add in 20g of Salacid along with a maximum of 10% of the whole volume of Alcohol. That way, Salacid completely blends with the lotion.
As for the homemade sulphur soap, 10% in weight of sulphur flower powder will blend to any liquid soap.
