Kennysville Farm is located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in Carroll County, Virginia. The farm is a colabation between John Kenny and Freddie Sweet (son-in-law). The land has been in John's family for five generation and has always been a family farm. John's father purchased a few goats to clear some underbrush, but some dogs got a hold of them and killed them. John has raised goat since 1987. His first purchase was some really wild brush goats that had to be rounded up by horse back on a mountian side near Elk Creek, VA, to clear brush. Since then he has tried his hand at cattle and sheep, but has always kept goats.
Boer goats came to Kennysville Farm after Freddie started researching goat breeds while at college in 1997. It took a few years to find a buck in the area, but one was located. It was a unregistered polled buck that started it for us.
