  • DVD NEWS: Yesterday afternoon I watched the movie "CATWOMAN" (PG-13, Action/Adventure/Fantasy, 2005, 104 Minutes) starring Halle Berry and Benjamin Bratt. I don't know why so many people were saying this movie was no good. I liked it a lot and therefore give it my GREAT rating. It's based on the DC Comics character "CatWoman". It's about a shy weak woman named Patience (played by Halle Berry) who discovers a secret about the company she works for that could ruin the company and therefore she is killed but a magical cat named Midnight brings her back to life. Now she has the traits of a strong "bad" cat combined with the personality of weak, good and shy Patience and she becomes "CatWoman". CatWoman goes back to get revenge on the people who killed her. She ends up getting framed and Patience ends up falling in love with the police officer (played by Benjamin Bratt) who is investigating her. Be sure to check this one out to find out what happens. Trust me, it is worth it!

SUNDAY- 27TH

  • TV NEWS: Don't miss the 77th Annual Academy Awards on ABC tonight starting at 8PM ET. Now here are the results of last night's episode of WICKEDLY PERFECT**- the eliminated contestants returned and were picked one by one to be on one of the teams by the team members. They were told that if their team won and their individual project was picked as the best on that team, they would be back in the competition. The others would be completely out of the competition but the ones on the losing team would help decide who to eliminate. The ARTISAN team picked Kimberly, Margo, Tim and Michelle. The CRAFTY BEAVERS team picked Tom, Mychael and Denise. For this week's task the teams each had to landscape half of a public park. For their individual projects they had to make a toppery out of a live bush. The judges picked the ARTISAN team as the winners. Kimberly's "Derby Hat" toppery was picked as the best individual project so that means Kimberly is now back in the running for the grand prize and Margo, Tim, Michelle, Mychael, Denise and Tom are all permanently out of the competition. On the CRAFTY BEAVERS team, Darlene and Amy's individual topperies were picked as the least appealing by the judges, therefore they were put up for elimination. The team members voted off Darlene46, a product demonstrator for the Home Shopping Network from Newport Richey, FL. Don't miss it next week when it turns into an Individual Competition! Three of the five remaining people will be eliminated, leaving two, one of which will be picked as the winner on the finale in two weeks!
  • DVD NEWS: Last night I watched the movie "A HOME AT THE END OF THE WORLD" (R, Drama, 2004, Approximately 90 Minutes) starring Colin Farrel, Dallas Roberts, Robin Wright Penn and Sissy Spacek. OFFICIAL WEBSITE I give this movie my EXCELLENT rating. Very heart warming movie. Colin Farrel does a fantastic job in this film! "A Family Can Be Whatever You Make It" is the theme of this movie. It follows a guy named Bobby Morrow (played by Farrel) from his boyhood in Ohio to manhood. It starts off showing his brother that he loved dearly being killed when Bobby was 9 years-old after he runs through a glass sliding door and then jumps to Bobby's teenage years where we learn his mother has died also. He meets a young geeky guy named Jonathan Glover (played by Roberts) at school who becomes a friend and then more than a friend as Bobby discovers he is bisexual and Jonathan discovers he is gay. Jonathan's family takes in Bobby after the death of his father and he becomes like a second son to them (Jonathan's mother Alice is played by Sissy Spacek). As they get older the two boys drift apart as Jonathan moves away to New York to go to college so he can "come out of the closet". He is lonely and continously searching for love and therefore sleeps with many different men. After Jonathan's parents decide to move from Ohio to Arizona, Bobby stays behind to work at a bakery for a while but then decides to visit Jonathan in New York and ends up staying with him. Jonathan is living with a girl named Clare (played by Robin Wright Penn). To make a long story short, Bobby falls in love with Claire but he still loves Jonathan too. Claire was in love with Jonathan before Bobby came along and now she loves both of them and Jonathan loves both Bobby and Claire (probably more as a best friend than anything). After learning Bobby and Clare are sleeping together and falling in love, Jonathan leaves without telling them and returns home to live with his parents. After his father dies, Bobby and Clare come to Arizona to go to the funeral and Claire reveals that she is pregnant. All three of them buy a house and land in the country and move in together and make a family. Clare gives birth to a little girl they name Rebecca. Alice (Jonathan's mother) comes to visit and tells Jonathan that she would like him to spread his father's ashes on their land but Jonathan says he's not ready to. After she leaves, Jonathan notices sores in his genital area and believes he has AIDS. It never shows him being tested for HIV/AIDS but you get the impression that he does have it. Bobby knows about it but they never reveals it to Clare. Eventually Claire feels that she can't compete with the love between Bobby and Jonathan so she tells them that her and Rebecca are going on a trip to her mother's house but she never returns. Jonathan and Bobby knew she wouldn't. It ends with Bobby and Jonathan spreading the ashes of Jonathan's father on their land and Jonathan telling Bobby that when he dies he wants his ashes spread on that land too. Be sure to watch this one!

SATURDAY- 26TH

  • PERSONAL NEWS: Took back the 3 movies we had rented from Movie Gallery and rented two more. This time we got "CatWoman" and "A Home At The End Of The World". I received the two CDs I ordered from BMG yesterday, which were Britney Spears' "Greatest Hits: My Perogative" and Howie Day's "Stop All The World Now". Haven't had a chance to listen to either yet but both have songs that I already love, especially the song "Collide" by Howie Day.
  • DVD NEWS: Last night I watched the movie "WITHOUT A PADDLE" (PG-13, Comedy, 2004, Approximately 90 Minutes) OFFICIAL WEBSITE This movie stars Seth Green, Dax Shepard, Matthew Lillard and features Burt Reynolds. I give this movie my GOOD rating. As you may already know, I am not into comedies very much but I did like this one. Some parts of it were slow and not that funny but there were a few "laugh-out-loud" hilarious moments. This movie is about 3 guys who set out on an adventure in Oregon to find a lost treasure. As children, Dan Mott (played by Green), Jerry Conlaine (played by Lillard), Tom Marshall (played by Shepard) and Billy had heard about a man named D.B. Cooper who had pulled off a big robbery but his plane had went down somewhere in the backwoods of Oregon and he (and his money) was never seen or heard from again. As children they talked about trying to find the "treasure". As adults they all remained friends but led their separate lives far from each other. After Billy's unexpected death, the other three discover that Billy had actully been planning for them to go and find the D.B. Cooper treasure, so in honor of him, they set out on a wild adventure in Oregon to find it themselves. Be sure to check it out to see all the crazy stuff they go through and to find out what happens when they run into D.B. Cooper's partner-in-crime Del Knox (played by Burt Reynolds), who has been living in the mountains ever since he and Cooper's plane went down over 30 years ago, and then when they finally find D.B. Cooper and his "treasure".

FRIDAY- 25TH

  • TV NEWS: On last night's episode of SURVIVOR 10: PALAU**- the ULONG tribe won the Reward Challenge. Their reward was a scuba mask and spear for fishing and also flint for starting fires. The KOROR tribe was able to find their flint that they had lost last in the water last week. The KOROR tribe won the Immunity Challenge, therefore sending ULONG back to Tribal Council. At Tribal Council, they voted off our girl from SC, Ashlee Ashby, 22, a student from Easley, SC. Now here are the results of last night's episode of THE APPRENTICE 3**- the task this week was to make a graphiti ad for PlayStation 2's new game Grand Turismo 4 in the Harlem neighborhood. The winner would be picked by two PlayStation executives after consulting with a focus group. MAGNA Corp. picked Alex as their Project Manager. NET WORTH Corp. picked Tara as their Project Manager. MAGNA was determined to be the winner and as a reward they got to have their portraits made of themselves, as a team and with Donald Trump by a well-known photographer who shoots for such magazines as VOGUE. In the boardroom, NET WORTH's Tara decided to bring Ashley and Craig in with her to be put up for firing. She originally said she was going to bring John in but after Craig said that Tara should be fired, she decided to take him in. In the end, Donald fired the Project Manager Tara Dowdell, 28, a senior government manager from New York City, NY because he could see that she was the main reason that the task failed. So far the Project Manager of the losing team has been eliminated everytime but one! In other news, NBC's THE CONTENDER** has changed it's schedule again! It will still premiere on Monday, March 7th at 9:30 PM ET but now it's regular day and time will be on Sundays at 9 PM ET starting March 13th instead of Wednesdays.

THURSDAY- 24TH

  • TV NEWS: On last night's episode of THE ROAD TO STARDOM WITH MISSY ELLIOTT**- first the judge Mona split the 4 up into 2 teams. Jessica & Nilyne made one team and Deltrice & Matthew made up the other team. They had to come up with a video concept for an up and coming 12 year-old performer's new single. Deltrice and Matthew came up with the best concept. For the elimination challenge they had to perform the song that they wrote using the track that Missy had given them at the beginning of the tour. Unbeknownst to them, they had to perform it in front of some of their friends and relatives. After deliberating on who did the best and worst, the judges chose to put up Deltrice and Nilyne for elimination. After they both pleaded their case to Missy, she decided to eliminate Nilyne, 23, makeup artist and student from Plainfield, NJ because she said she was just too erratic. Don't miss the season finale, including a live concert next Wednesday, March 2nd. Will the winner be Matthew, Jessica or Deltrice? They are all three great so it could be any one of them. Now for the results of AMERICAN IDOL 4**- four people, 2 guys and 2 girls, were eliminated last night. The two guys that were eliminated were: Jared Yates, 18, from Danville, IL and Judd Harris, 27, from New Orleans, LA. The two girls that were eliminated were: Melinda Lira, 19, from Hanford, CA and Sarah Mather, 22, from Charlotte, NC. Now there are 20 semi-finalist left. Next week four more will be eliminated, on the way down to the 12 finalist!

WEDNESDAY- 23RD

  • DVD NEWS: Last night, Stephan and I watched the movie "SAW" (R, Suspense/Horror, 2005, 100 Minutes). OFFICIAL WEBSITE The movie stars Cary Elwes, Monica Potter, Danny Glover and Leigh Whannell (who is also the screenwriter). I give this movie my GREAT rating. I enjoyed it a lot. Though there were some boring parts, the end more than makes it worth watching. I'll just give you the basics or else I may give something away that will make it not as interesting. It's about a psychopath who makes people who he feels do not appreciate life play sick games that will make them appreciate life more, if they live that is! Can you figure out who the psychopath is? It might not be who you think. Be sure to check out the official website. It is cool and scary!

TUESDAY- 22ND

   GEORGE WASHINGTON'S BIRTHDAY

  • PERSONAL NEWS: Instead of my parents coming here I went and met my Dad in Williamston, SC to visit my Uncle Curtis but it ended up that Curtis had to go to the doctor so I didn't get to visit with him. My Mom stayed at her sister's house in Hendersonville, NC. My Dad and I hung out for a while and then he headed back up to Hendersonville. They are suppose to be heading back home in the morning.
  • TV NEWS: On last night's episode of AMERICAN IDOL 4** the group of 12 guys performed. I have to say with the exception of a couple, none of them sounded as good as they did in auditions. I have no idea which two will be eliminated. It could be any of them, especially with America deciding. Tonight the group of 12 girls will perform and Wednesday 2 guys and 2 girls will be eliminated.

MONDAY- 21ST

   HAPPY PRESIDENT'S DAY!

  • PERSONAL NEWS: Well, my parents are suppose to be coming by sometime today on their way home from their trip to Gatlinburg, TN. I'm suppose to ride with them to see my Uncle Curtis (my dad's brother) who has terminal cancer in Pelzer, SC which is only about 20-25 miles from me. My sister Lisa called me last night and we talked for a couple hours, mainly about reality shows and movies like we usually do.
  • NATIONAL NEWS: I guess everyone has heard the tapes released yesterday that one of President George W. Bush's friends, Doug Wead, recorded. It is of conversations between himself (Doug Wead) and President Bush back when Bush was governor of Texas. On the tape, Bush admits to smoking pot but says he doesn't want any kids to know about it because he plans to become president one day and it might lead children to think it's OK to smoke pot if they know the President has done it. Bush actually says he would NOT discriminate against gays! What happened to that theory? I guess he doesn't think it is discrimination to put a ban against gay marriage into the Constitution, which is a document that states that everyone is EQUAL. The only statement that the White House released about the tapes was that those were suppose to be private conversations between Bush and someone he considered a friend and that Bush did not know he was being recorded.

SUNDAY- 20TH

60's movie star Sandra Dee, who played Gidget, died of kidney disease

  • PERSONAL NEWS: My roommate had went to a funeral of the father of a friend of his from college, Brodus Smith, yesterday and then yesterday evening when he got on his computer to check his email for the first time in 3 days there was an email from the wife of Sam Jones, a close friend of his, saying that Sam had passed away on Wednesday. He looked in the newspaper and found that the funeral was Friday. Sam was only 40 years-old and leaves behind his wife Karen and his young son Jacob. My roommate plans on visiting the family today. He hasn't been able to find out how Sam died yet. I have to say I'm very curious because I'm not too far from 40 myself and my roommate is 43. I'm always curious, as I think a lot of people are, when I see someone in the obituaries or hear about someone dying around my age to know what caused them to pass away.
  • TV NEWS: Here are the results of last night's episode of WICKEDLY PERFECT**- Mitch was moved from the CRAFTY BEAVERS team to the ARTISAN team with Kimberly and Dawn to even things up. He was picked to be moved when the judges decided that his individual project from last week was the best. For the task this week they had to do an "estate sale". Each team was given $1,000 and told to find 4 antiques, 1 of which had to be from the 19th Century (1800's) and some had to be refinish in specified ways. Two antique appraisers looked at each teams antiques before and after they refinished them. The appraisers said that the CRAFTY BEAVERS team's antiques were higher in value after they were refinished. But it was up to the judges to decide based on more than just the value as to which team would win this week. For individual projects they each had to make something in a craft that they felt represented them. In the first split decision so far, the judges ended up choosing the CRAFTY BEAVERS team as the winners. The judges then looked at ARTISAN's individual projects and decided that Kimberly and Dawn's projects were the least impressive therefore they were put up for elimination and it would be Mitch's decision alone on who would leave. Mitch chose to eliminate Kimberly, 32, a homemaker from Atlanta, GA. Don't miss it next week when all the eliminated contestants will return (seems like that's kind of "the normal" on reality shows now).
  • DVD NEWS: Watched the movie "KING ARTHUR" (PG-13, Director's Cut, Action/Adventure, 2004, Approximately 136 Minutes) last night. I give this movie my GOOD rating. Parts of the movie are pretty good and other parts are very boring. I'm not going to waste my time re-telling the story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table including Sir Lancelot. The Wizard Merlin, Lady Guenevere and the Excalibur sword are all in the movie too. It's worth renting but, personally, I wouldn't buy it.
  • SITE UPDATES: Updated the SOLDIERS' MEMORIAL page with the latest numbers. Also had to add the name of another soldier from SC that died in Iraq. Her memorial on MilitaryCity.com is not yet available so there is no link right now.

SATURDAY- 19TH

  • PERSONAL NEWS: We rented three movies from the Movie Gallery yesterday. Got the movies "Saw", "King Arthur" and "Without A Paddle". Look for my reviews within the next few days. My roommate got himself a new HP computer with a 17" LCD monitor. Very nice. I've been updating it for him for hours and hours putting XP SP2 on it and updating Norton Anti-virus etc...He's not very computer literate so I've always been the one to do all the computer updates, etc... A lot of people don't realize that even when you buy a computer brand new off the shelf they already need a lot of updates because though you are just getting it off the shelf, in most cases it was manufactured several months before it made it to the store.

FRIDAY- 18TH

  • PERSONAL NEWS: I talked with my mother yesterday afternoon and she said that her and my dad were heading up to Gatlingburg, TN with my sister Amanda and her family this morning. My sister Lisa's daughter Amber is going too. They are going to Amanda's father-in-law's condo for the weekend. My mom said they would probably be coming here on Monday. I'll probably ride with them to see my Uncle Curtis (my dad's brother) in Pelzer, SC (which is only about 20 miles from me). Curtis, who is only about 48, has cancer and Hepatitis C (which he got from a blood transfusion) and is not expected to live much longer. In fact, he will be admitted into Duke Hospital in Raleigh, NC on February 24th. Duke is a cancer speciality hospital. They don't expect him to come back out. Don't know how I'm going to deal with yet another death.
  • TV NEWS: Here are the results of last night's premiere episode of SURVIVOR 10: PALUA**- the 20 castaways were put on a boat and told that the first man and first woman to make it to the island would get immunity by being the first to grab the immunity necklaces. Jolanda and Ian were the two who got the necklaces. Later, each of them were told they would start the pick of the two new separate tribes. When they picked someone, than that person would pick the next person and they would go back and forth from man to woman but there would only be 9 on each team, leaving two to be eliminated immediately. The two who were left and eliminated immediately were Wanda Shirk, 55, an english teacher from Ulysses, PA and Jonathan Libby, 23, in sales & marketing from Dallas, TX. Jolanda's tribe was given the name ULONG, given light blue buffs and consists of Bobby John, Stephenie, Angie, Jeff, Ibreham, Kimberly, James and Ashlee (the SC girl!). Ian's tribe was named KOROR, given brown buffs and consists of Katie, Tom, Janu, Gregg, Jennifer, Coby, Caryn and Willard. Later the two tribes competed in their first Reward/Immunity Challenge. KOROR won and the only item they had picked up (and was their reward) was "fire". They also won immunity from Tribal Council and were told that they could either go back to the island and camp they came from or go to a new place to start a fresh camp. They chose to go to the new place and on the way there, their canoe tipped over and they lost the "fire" they had just won. At Tribal Council, ULONG voted off Jolanda "Jo" Jones, 39, a lawyer from Houston, TX making it a total of 3 people eliminated on the first episode. Now, here are results of last night's episode of THE APPRENTICE 3**- this week's task was to set up and run an "on the go" business in an Airstream trailer in 48 hours. NET WORTH Corp. chose Tana as their Project Manager and MAGNA Corp. chose Bren as their Project Manager. NET WORTH decided to go with a casting business for actors. People paid $25 to see a famous casting director (the woman who cast for such greats as HBO's "Sex and The City") for the chance to get work. MAGNA decided to go with a massage and manicure business. NET WORTH won the task and for a reward was able to go to the pearl jewelry makers for the Miss USA and Miss Universe pagents. They got to meet Miss USA and Miss Universe and were also given $20,000 to buy pearls for themselves. In the boardroom, MAGNA Project Manager Bren decided to bring Michael and Stephanie in to the termination meeting with him. In the end, Donald fired Michael Tarshi, 25, a real estate developer from Boston, MA because he did little to help get any business for their massage parlor on wheels.

THURSDAY- 17TH

  • TV NEWS: Here are the results of last night's episode of THE ROAD TO STARDOM WITH MISSY ELLIOTT**- the final 5 contestants were flown to their final destination in Los Angeles, CA where first they met Madonna to get advice from her and then got to go to Missy's concert. They also were given $500 to get their own style of clothes and then taken to some famous designers who tried to change their style to see if they would go for it. All of them changed their style except Akil. They were taken to judge Teena Marie's house for their next task. For this task they each had to come up with a verse for a song that Teena Marie had started and yet keep a melody all together. They all seemed to do a pretty good job. The judges then deliberated and chose Matthew and Akil to be put up for elmination. After talking to each of them, Missy decided to eliminate Akil, 23, a teacher from Jersey City, NJ. She said he gave her the expected instead of the unexpected and that he continually put other people up instead of promoting himself. Now 4 people remain to compete for the grand prize; Matthew, Deltice, Jessica and Nilyne. Here are the results of last night's episode of AMERICAN IDOL 4**- the contestants were narrowed down from 44 to the 24 semi-finalist, 12 guys and 12 girls. This will happen until it is narrowed down to the 12 finalist (6 guys and 6 girls). Then of course all 12 will perform and America will vote. Don't miss the premiere of SURVIVOR 10: PALAU** tonight at 8pm ET on CBS!

WEDNESDAY- 16TH

  • TV NEWS: First, some sad news, one of the boxers on NBC's upcoming reality show THE CONTENDER** committed suicide on Monday, February 14th which was Valentine's Day. 23 y/o Najai Turpin, also known as "Nitro", from Philadelphia, PA used a gun to end his life Monday but the reasons as to why he did it are not clear. They say his girlfriend was in the car with him when he did it. The producers of "The Contender" say the show will air as scheduled and Turpin will not be edited out (see full story). Now here are the results of last night's episode of AMERICAN IDOL 4**- Last night they narrowed the semi-finalist down from 75 to 44. They seem to have eliminated some good singers in my opinion. Tonight they will narrow it down to the 24 semi-finalist, 12 guys and 12 girls, who will perform for America. Those 24 will be narrowed down to the 12 finalist, 6 guys and 6 girls, by eliminating 2 guys and 2 girls each week for the next 3 weeks. The competition starts to heat up! MONDAY- 14TH

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! HAPPY 17th ANNIVERSARY MICHELLE & DAVID!

  • DVD NEWS: Watched the movie "CELLULAR" (PG-13, Drama, 2005, Approximately 90 Minutes) starring Kim Basinger, Chris Evans and William H. Macy last night. I give this movie my GREAT rating. This movie starts out with a woman named Jessica Martin (played by Kim Basinger) being kidnapped from her home. She is taken to a house out in the country and put in the attic. There is a telephone in there but one of the kidnappers uses a sledge hammer to bust it up. She fools around with the wires and is able to connect to the cellular phone of this young irresponsible guy named Ryan (played by Chris Evans). She tells him that she's been kidnapped and from there a string of events happen that convince him that she is not just some psycho making a crank call. After he is convinced that she's telling the truth and his efforts to get the police involved fail, he sets out to try and free her himself. He tries to stop her son Ricky and husband Craig from being kidnapped too but fails so then he must try to get all three freed. He manages to get what the kidnappers are after, which is a videotape that the husband Craig had taken of some crooked police officers killing two drug dealers in cold blood. Yeah, you find out that the kidnappers are actually police officers. In the end, Ryan and one good cop (played by William H. Macy) save the day. You'll have to rent or buy it to see how it all plays out.

SUNDAY- 13TH

  • TV NEWS: Here are the results of last night's episode of WICKEDLY PERFECT**- the teams had to redecorate a cottage, including a bedroom and for their individual projects they had to do a gift wrap. The judges chose the CRAFTY BEAVERS team as the winners. After looking at team ARTISAN's individual projects, the judges liked Kimberly & Denise's the least and therefore they were put up for elimination. Dawn was the only other team member so she had to choose which one would go home. She chose to eliminate Denise, 39, a homemaker from Los Angeles, CA. Now team ARTISAN is made up of only Dawn & Kimberly but of course that will probably change next week. • DVD NEWS: Watched the movie "FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS" (PG-13, True Story Drama, 2005, Approximately 90 Minutes) starring Billy Bob Thorton last night. I give this movie my EXCELLENT rating. This is the true story of the Permian High School football team in Odessa, TX and their struggles to make it to, and at, the State Championship in 1988. After waching the movie, be sure to check out the documentary entitled, "The Story of Permian High" in the bonus features section. You'll get to see and hear from the actual people who were the main characters in this true life story. Be sure to watch this movie, it will keep you flooded with emotions. It is as they advertised it, "one of the best sports films ever."
  • DVD NEWS: Also watched the movie "RAY" (PG-13, True Story Drama, 2005, Extended Version-Approximately 3 Hours) starring Jamie Foxx last night. I give this movie my EXCELLENT rating. Now I see why Jamie Foxx is winning all these awards and he definitely deserves them! This is the true life story of the blind singer "Ray Charles" Robinson (played by Jamie Foxx) and all his struggles to make it to stardom, starting with the drowning of his younger brother George and him going blind as a young boy to his infidelities and heroin drug problem as a man. Be sure to watch this one! I watched the extended version but I would recommend just watching the "Theatrical Version" because of the way it jumps to the "extended" clips and then back to the movie, sometimes showing the same clip more than once.

FRIDAY- 11TH

  • TV NEWS: Here are the results of last night's episode of THE APPRENTICE 3**- the task this time around was to make a commercial advertising the new Dove Body Wash. The team with the best commercial, picked by Deutch Company execs, would win a reward, the other team would be headed to the boardroom. Team MAGNA Corp. picked Erin as Project Manager. Team NET WORTH picked Kristen as Project Manager. When the teams were finished, the Deutch judges said that both commercials were terrible and that they could not use either one of them so, for the first time, Donald Trump said no one would win a reward and that both teams would come to the boardroom. MAGNA P.M. Erin picked Bren and Michael to come into the termination meeting and NET WORTH P.M. Kristen picked Tana and Audrey to come into the boardroom with her. In the end, Donald fired Kristen Kirchner, 31, a real estate financier from Los Angeles, CA because he said she was not a good leader. THURSDAY- 10TH

  • TV NEWS: Here are the results of last night's episode of THE ROAD TO STARDOM WITH MISSY ELLIOTT**- the challenge this time involved performing rap, singing and dance all together. After the challenge, the judges picked Akil and Eddie as the weakest performers and put them up for elimination. After scaring them by making them believe she was going to eliminate them both, Missy only eliminated Eddie, 25, a construction worker from New Orleans, LA because she said the only thing he could do good was rap. Don't miss next week's episode when MADONNA will make an apperance! Now here are the final results from NBC's SPORTS ILLUSTRATED: SWIMSUIT MODEL SEARCH**-  Alicia, 19, a web designer from Las Vegas, NV was voted the winner by America over Shannon, 23, a model from Mesquite, TX.  Besides winning a spot on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue (on stands February 15th), Alicia won a $1 million dollar modeling contract with NEXT Model Management. In other news, the premiere of THE WB's THE STARLET ** has been moved up to Sunday, March 6th instead of Tuesday, March 8th.

WEDNESDAY- 9TH

   ASH WEDNESDAY

  • TV NEWS: Here are the results of the final episode of THE AMAZING RACE 6**Dating actors Hayden Kristianson, 25, a model/actor & Aaron Crumbaugh, 25, a model/actor both from Los Angeles, CA were the first team eliminated last night. Right after they were eliminated Aaron got down on one knee and proposed marriage to Hayden and she said, "Yes"! So this left Adam & Rebecca, Freddy & Kendra and Jon & Kris to race to the finish line. Engaged models Freddy Holliday, 34, a pilot/model & Kendra Bentley, 25, a model, both from Miami, FL arrived first at the final pit stop in Chicago, IL (where they had started out at) and became the winners of the race and $1 million dollars! Dating long distance couple Kris Perkins, 30, a student/waitress from Long Beach, CA & Jon Buehler, 29, a restaurant partner from Scottsdale, AZ came in 2nd place and Adam Malis, 27 & Rebecca Cardon, 29, a formerly dating couple, both personal trainers from Los Angeles, CA came in 3rd. Don't miss the premiere of THE AMAZING RACE 7 in 3 weeks on Tuesday, March 1st! Look for the link and information on the contestants on my REALITY SHOW LINKS page within the next week or two. On AMERICAN IDOL 4** last night and tonight, they are now in Hollywood and are in the process of narrowing it down to the 24 semi-finalist.

TUESDAY- 8TH

  • TV NEWS: Here are the results of last night's episode of THE BACHELORETTE** - after visiting the final four men's families, Jen decided to eliminate Wendell, 32, an entrepreneur who resides in Chicago, IL. That leaves her three men to choose from; Jerry, John Paul and Ryan Sh.

MONDAY- 7TH

  • SPORTS NEWS: The New England Patriots won the 39th Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles in Jacksonville, FL last night. The score was 24-21. The Patriots have won 3 out of the last 4 Super Bowls! They are now considered a Dynasty.
  • GAY COMMUNITY NEWS: On Friday, February 4th, State Supreme Court Justice Doris Ling-Cohan ruled in favor of five gay couples who had been denied marriage licenses by New York City. The Supreme Court is New York's trial level court. The couples brought a lawsuit arguing they were denied legal protections guaranteed under the constitution. The judge agreed and said the New York City clerk may not deny a license to any couple solely because the two are of the same sex. The ruling will not take effect for at least 30 days and only if it survives an appeal. The law will be effective only in New York City but could extend statewide if it is upheld by the Court of Appeals in Albany.
  • DVD NEWS: Watched the movie "THE GRUDGE" (PG-13, Suspense/Horror, 2005, Approximately 90 Minutes) starring Sarah Michelle Gellar on Friday night. I have to say this movie was a disappointment to me. Not at all as good as I expected it to be, therefore I can only give it my GOOD rating.
  • DVD NEWS: Watched the movie "THE FORGOTTEN" (PG-13, Suspense/Thriller, 2005, Approximately 90 Minutes) starring Julianne Moore, Dominic West, Joseph Ruben, Gary Sinise and Anthony Edwards last night. I give this movie my GREAT rating. There are two different versions on the dvd, the "Theatrical Version" and the "Extended Version with an Alternate Ending". I watched the Theatrical Version but then went back and watched the "alternate ending" of the other version. The same outcome is achieved, just a little differently so I suggest just sticking with the Theatrical Version. It's not like "The Butterfly Effect" (starring Ashton Kutcher) where there was two totally different endings. Anyway, Julianne Moore stars as Telly Paretta, a grieving mother struggling to cope with the loss of her eight-year old son Sam. She is stunned when her psychiatrist (played by Gary Sinise) reveals that she has created eight years of memories about a son she never had. But when she meets a man named Ash (played by Dominic West) who has had a similar experience with his daughter Lauren, the two embark on a search to prove their children's existence, and their sanity.

   SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!

  • TV NEWS: Don't miss the Super Bowl XXXIX Pre-Game Show starting at 2 PM ET and the actual game that starts at 6 PM ET on FOX! It will be broadcast LIVE from the ALLTELL Stadium in Jacksonville, FL. Who will be the winners? Will it be the New England Patriots or the Philadelphia Eagles? Either one will be fine with me but if I actually watch it, I will probably be rooting for the underdog. Now here are the results of last night's episode of WICKEDLY PERFECT** - Team CRAFTY BEAVERS had to pick one person from team ARTISAN to come on their side so as to even the teams up. They chose Darlene so now she is a Crafty Beaver. The task this time was for them to run a Bed & Breakfast and to take care of their guests, which were the judges. For their individual projects everyone had to make a wreath made out of real fruit. In the end, the judges chose the CRAFTY BEAVERS as the winners. So someone from team ARTISAN would be eliminated. Out of ARTISAN's individual projects the judges liked Denise and Margo's wreaths the least, therefore Denise and Margo were put up for elimination. Dawn and Kimberly both chose to eliminate Margo, 40, a purchasing supervisor from Oceanside, CA. Now it's down to 7 people, 4 on the CRAFTY BEAVERS team and 3 on the ARTISAN team.
  • SITE UPDATES: Updated my GAY MARRIAGE page with the latest news and made some other small changes to it.

SATURDAY- 5TH

  • TV NEWS: Here's some info on the new upcoming reality program called THE STARLET** which premieres on THE WB at 9 PM ET on Tuesday, March 8th (no official website available yet). The following information was taken from Teen Tv Movies at About.com: "The Starlet" is the ultimate wish-fulfillment reality series. A behind-the-scenes look at the Hollywood star-making machine on fast forward, "The Starlet" takes a group of 10 beautiful and talented aspiring actresses and puts them through an intense Hollywood "boot camp," complete with acting classes, live performances, screen tests and brutally honest critiques by a panel of judges headed by Academy Award-winning actress Faye Dunaway. In addition to Ms. Dunaway, the panel of judges consists of film star Vivica A. Fox and famed casting director Joseph Middleton. Set in the glitter of Tinsel Town, "The Starlet" has one purpose - to discover the next young actress with the potential to become a major star. The prize is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: a career-launching role on The WB's hit drama "One Tree Hill," a one-year management contract with 3 Arts Entertainment and an overall talent deal with The WB. In order to win, each young woman will have to prove she has three special gifts - talent, star quality and attitude. Even the locations are rich in Hollywood history. The actresses live together in a house once owned by the ultimate starlet, Marilyn Monroe. Screen tests take place in renowned Hollywood locations: Los Angeles' old Orpheum Theater, where Judy Garland once performed; Griffith Park's Bronson Caves, which have appeared in countless films and served as the Bat Cave in the "Batman" television series; and the Sunset Strip's Comedy Store, where scores of comedians have made the leap from obscurity to stardom. Along the way, the actresses have the benefit of classes with top acting coaches in drama, comedy and commercials. Guest stars drop in to help with scenes, including Jaime Pressly and David Gallagher. Tension builds as the aspiring actresses are eliminated when Faye Dunaway delivers the most feared line in Hollywood: "Don't call us, we'll call you."

FRIDAY- 4TH

  • TV NEWS: Here are the results of last night's episode of THE APPRENTICE 3** - at the very beginning of the program before the next task was given out, despite Danny's efforts to stop her and as a surprise to everyone and to me, Verna, 31, a business manager from Seattle, WA QUIT! Yeap, she walked off the job interview. Anyway, the task that the teams were given this time was to come up with an event to promote Nestle Nescafe' Taster's Choice coffee. Each team was given $76,000 for this task. Two executives from Nestle would decided the winner. Team MAGNA Corp. chose Danny to be Project Manager and team NET WORTH Corp. chose Angie to be Project Manager. In the end, the executives chose team NET WORTH Corp. as the winners. For their reward they got to fly in and have champagne on a giant 12-seater helicopter as it flew above New York. In the boardroom, team MAGNA Corp. tried to convince Donald Trump to fire Michael even though he had an exemption. He told them that the exemption was like a contract and couldn't/shouldn't be broken. Despite this, Danny asked if he could bring Michael in as one of the two people up for termination. Stephanie was the other person he brought in. In the Termination meeting, almost immediately Donald told Stephanie that she wasn't going to be fired. Then he again stated that he would not go against the rules [contract] so therefore he wouldn't fire Michael. He said that Danny did not make a good leader because he wasn't good at making decisions so therefore he fired Danny Kastner, 39, a marketing technology firm owner from Boston, MA. I will say one thing, Danny can sing! I think he was on the wrong show. He needs to be on a talent show.

THURSDAY- 3RD

  • NATIONAL NEWS: The groundhog in Pennsylvania saw his shadow indicating 6 more weeks of winter but the "southern version" groundhog, in Georgia, didn't see his shadow indicating an early spring, so who knows! The XXXIX (39th) Super Bowl will be held at the Alltell Stadium in Jacksonville, FL this Sunday, February 6th. In case you don't already know, it will be the Philadelphia Eagles vs the New England Patriots. Pre-game show will start at 2 PM ET and the game will start at 6 PM ET, live on FOX.
  • TV NEWS: Here are the results of Monday night's and last night's episodes of THE ROAD TO STARDOM WITH MISSY ELLIOTT**- I just found out from the website that they aired an episode this past Monday that I didn't know about and which. of course, I missed. I knew something was up after last night's episode started off by showing that Marcus & Melissa were put up for elimination on the last episode and that Melissa19, an unemployed student from Plymouth, MN was eliminated (on the Monday night episode)! Anyway, the challenge this week was that the contestants had to get in a boxing ring and battle each other, trying to out sing, out dance, out rap or whatever it took to "knock out" their opponet. The judges were the 5 already eliminated contestants, Heather, Yelawolf, Frankie B, Cori and Melissa. In the end Deltrice won the challenge and received immunity from being eliminated. The two worst contestants were put up for elimination and that ended up being Nic & Marcus. After talking to Missy, she eliminated BOTH Nic, 29, a disc jokey from Aliso Viejo, CA and Marcus, 24, a security guard from Houston, TX leaving 6 people to compete for the grand prize. Missy said she eliminated both because in this challenge Nic used foul language and talked bad about women and Marcus just didn't step up to the plate when he was put out of his comfort zone of singing a learned song. Now here are the results of last night's episode of SPORTS ILLUSTRATED: SWIMSUIT MODEL SEARCH**- Stacy, 19, a model and sales associate at Baby Gap/Gap Kids at the mall from South Saint Paul, MN was eliminated leaving Alicia and Shannon for viewers to vote for and determine the winner. Don't miss the final episode next Wednesday, February 9th when America's votes will be counted and one girl will become a Sports Illustrated Model! AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL- CYCLE 4 begins on UPN on Wednesday March 2, 2005! Full details coming soon!

   GROUNDHOG DAY!

  • LOCAL SC NEWS: The Greenville County Council passed the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday with a vote of 7-5 last night. It took 18 years for this resolution to finally pass! Greenville County, one of the biggest counties (if not THE biggest) was the last county in South Carolina to pass it! Until elections last November they had a bunch of "good ol' boys" on the council that would not pass it. Glad they're gone! I believe this will bring the community closer together.
  • TV NEWS: President Bush will address the nation with his STATE OF THE UNION 2005 speech tonight starting at 9 PM ET on all network stations. Here are the results of last night's THE AMAZING RACE 6**- Hayden & Aaron were the first to arrive at the pit stop in China. They received a trip to Hawaii. Freddie & Kendra came in 2nd place. Kris & Jon came in 3rd. After being Yielded by Freddie & Kendra, Adam & Rebecca were the last to arrive but this was a non-elimination round so they weren't eliminated but they did have to give up all their money and they will start the next round with none. Don't miss the 2-hour finale next Tuesday where one of these teams will win $1 million dollars! On AMERICAN IDOL 4 ** they showed auditions in Cleveland, OH with guest judge LL Cool J and in Orlando, FL. Tomorrow night they will be showing the auditions from San Francisco, CA. Tonight is the final photo shoot for the remaining 3 models on SPORTS ILLUSTRATED: SWIMSUIT MODEL SEARCH**.
