Neil Randal (1994), in USA ROBOTICS – The Intelligent Choice in Information Access, states that “a whole range of publishers has already appeared on the Web. Some have presented samples of publications; others have presented full texts. In the future, there is every reason to expect full publishing efforts on the Web....”

We here in southern Nigeria have got room for ourselves on the Web. We dream of serving as the most unique and most authentic and committed window in Nigeria through which the world community of the Deaf and non-deaf could peep into the Deaf community of Nigeria.

We purpose to achieve this vision-propelled ambition through the dissemination of information by means of our literature on the Web. You can better appreciate the stuff our dream is made of when you consider that our compiled biographical sketch on Dr Andrew Foster has supplied bits and pieces of information to Deaf students in international Deaf Colleges in Europe and America doing research works on the life and work on the missionary.

From experiential discovery, we have learnt that, with the advent of the Internet and the World Wide Web, people everywhere are interested in knowing what is happening to the neighbour next door; they want to be involved in their neighbour’s life, to be their “brother’s keeper”. Some of these people are even ready to go to the extent of catching the next flight and fly in to meet, stay with, sympathise with, work with, and help that neighbour they met or have been told about on the Internet.

Again, you can better appreciate the stuff our dream is made of when we tell you that, following information released by us on the Internet about a segment of the Deaf community resident in a residential school in south-eastern Nigeria, two Italian Deaf girls, Chiara Di Monte and Tiziana Guli, volunteered to come over to Nigeria and cooperate with us a volunteer service workers.

This is why we are on the Web – to inform you, to get you involved in service to your neighbour, to connect you, and to create opportunity for you to serve among the downtrodden and poor Deaf. We are here to enlighten you; we are here to bring to light with our TRANSFIGURATION PEN darkest things that have not been seen or told about the desolation of the Deaf in our cities and towns. With disciplined commitment and committed discipline, we dream to see the situation so transfigured as we write – and as you write too!

Now have you, as a Deaf guy, written a book  about the deaf and you do not know how to go about editing and getting it published because of: (1) Poor grammar that embarrasses you? (2) Poor organisation that frustrates you and puts off? (3) Fear? (4) Non-availability of encouragers?

These should not discourage you to the point of destroying your vision and ambition of becoming an author. Hold on! You have the potentials to release information---and we are just a breath away to meet your needs in terms of proof-reading and simple editing. We have the expertise and professionalism to make something out of your write-up!

Now rekindle your desire to write.  Who knows? – Your book (big or small) may be just what the parents and/or guardians of a brutalised and abused and rejected Deaf child are waiting for so they can be instructed by you to value their Deaf son and daughter.

Our first book has turned round forever the misery, economic slavery and impending doom of Deaf youths scheduled by dark forces for catastrophic plunge into the abyss of hopelessness. The book even captured the attention of the Ministry of Education of Ebonyi State of Nigeria in 2006. The same year the book was approved as a literary text book for Junior Secondary Schools (J.S.S. 1-3/2006 – 2009).

That “book in you” must be written; it must be next! Remember, the new source of power is not money in the hand of few, but information in the hand of many. You would recall that it took information passed across to King Belshazzar by his Queen in the Bible to the effect that there was one Daniel who could interpret the handwriting on the wall of the banquet hall.

We too need to produce the correct informative literature that will lead to the interpretation of the handwriting on the walls of the Nigerian Deaf Community. If we do not have such literature, the Deaf in Nigeria will never be free; they shall never be able to say, “I have a dream!” like Martin Luther King Jnr. ; they shall never be able to lead themselves into the idyllic  promised land of full liberty, out of putrid and pointless leadership that is accountable to nobody.

Be bold now! Write what you know. Write what you have seen and heard happening in your respective retarded, unenlightened, darkened and slighted Deaf community. Then send us your write-up as attachment. (Nigeria Deaf only!) We shall assist with free proofreading/editing; we shall as well add sharp, powerful materials to knock your point home - into the consciousness of Deaf individuals and groups who are blinded, deceived, timid, betrayed and misguided - so they can see the light that will transfigure them, and rise boldly to take responsibility for their freedom and not keep waiting on governments to come over and solve their problems. It is time we put an end to being slighted, relegated. It is time to prevent the continuation of the evil works of oppressors, opportunists, deceivers who rob us.

Where you do not write to inform people about yourself and to give light through your blazing pen to your people group groping in a dark tunnel, then you mean that you have taken a silent vow to condemn yourself to psychological, political, economic, social and mental slavery. Who will know you are there? Who will take notice of you? How will one of your group be emboldened to fight for your rights and privileges embedded in your country’s constitution?
