Matters arising from the minutes:

SM highlighted that Oliver Finnegan was the 2015 player of the year for the NCCL team, which was not mentioned in the 2015 minutes.

KG queried why the NCCL fees were not mentioned in the 2015 minutes. It was confirmed that while these were shown as £12 in the Treasurer’s report, they were not discussed at the meeting

A discussion was held on subs for the forthcoming year:

It was also discussed whether there should be concessionary fees for unemployed members. I was concluded that any reduction would be at the discretion of the Treasurer and on a case-by-case basis

The meeting agreed that annual subscriptions would be £80 per year, subject to deductions for those members who pay their own ECF membership fees.

In the rapidplay, the team lost against Writtle, and so will play in the Plate competition

Essex League 2nd Team: MVT reported that the 2nd Team came 5th out of 6 in the Essex 4th Divisio, and that difficulty getting the requisite number of players resulted in a number of boards being defaulted. GC was player of the year with 4.5 / 8

NCCL Team: SM reported that the NCCL team won 4 matches, drew 4 and lost 7, coming joint 7th in the NCCL league division 2. In the Finchley Cup, the team was defeated in the Quarter Final

Club Tournament : MVT reported a substantial level of participation in the Club Tournament, which included 8 players split into two “groups”, and a 4 / 2 / 1 point system.

The “Championship” Group was one by GK, and the “Plate” Group was won by GC

Programme for Next Season:

MVT presented a detailed analysis of player availability, including the effect of barring on the Essex League 2nd team

A general discussion followed on options for teams for next year. It was generally agreed that the club’s preference was to maintain two teams in the Essex League, with one team in the NCCL league. It was also recognised that that the club would struggle to have enough players for these three teams.

It was agreed that the decision on teams for next year would be deferred to August, and would be depend on the membership level at that point

MVT also lead the discussion on the format of the Club Tournament for next year. It was agreed that the precise format of the tournament be left to MVT’s discretion, but that for any came the time control could be shortened by mutual agreement between the two players.
