Minutes of the Annual General Meeting held at the Club’s premises on Wednesday 22nd June 2016 at 7.45pm

Minutes of the Meeting held on 1st July 2015: These were approved
Matters arising from the minutes:
SM highlighted that Oliver Finnegan was the 2015 player of the year for the NCCL team, which was not mentioned in the 2015 minutes.
KG queried why the NCCL fees were not mentioned in the 2015 minutes. It was confirmed that while these were shown as £12 in the Treasurer’s report, they were not discussed at the meeting
Treasurer’s Report: MBT reported that the balance was £362, down from £429 in the previous year.
A discussion was held on subs for the forthcoming year:
It was also discussed whether there should be concessionary fees for unemployed members. I was concluded that any reduction would be at the discretion of the Treasurer and on a case-by-case basis
The meeting agreed that annual subscriptions would be £80 per year, subject to deductions for those members who pay their own ECF membership fees.
Team Captains’ Reports:
Essex League 1st Team : GK confirmed that the 1st tean came 5th out of 6 teams in Essex division 2. KB was player of the year scoring 5 points from 9 games
In the rapidplay, the team lost against Writtle, and so will play in the Plate competition
Essex League 2nd Team: MVT reported that the 2nd Team came 5th out of 6 in the Essex 4th Divisio, and that difficulty getting the requisite number of players resulted in a number of boards being defaulted. GC was player of the year with 4.5 / 8
NCCL Team: SM reported that the NCCL team won 4 matches, drew 4 and lost 7, coming joint 7th in the NCCL league division 2. In the Finchley Cup, the team was defeated in the Quarter Final
MVT confirmed that SM was player of the year for the NCCL team with a 70% score.
Club Tournament : MVT reported a substantial level of participation in the Club Tournament, which included 8 players split into two “groups”, and a 4 / 2 / 1 point system.
The “Championship” Group was one by GK, and the “Plate” Group was won by GC
Website Report: KB confirmed that the website continued to be free, and requested members to send in any particularly interesting games for publication on the site. GC proposed a vote of thanks to KB for his excellent work on the site
Programme for Next Season:
MVT presented a detailed analysis of player availability, including the effect of barring on the Essex League 2nd team
A general discussion followed on options for teams for next year. It was generally agreed that the club’s preference was to maintain two teams in the Essex League, with one team in the NCCL league. It was also recognised that that the club would struggle to have enough players for these three teams.
It was agreed that the decision on teams for next year would be deferred to August, and would be depend on the membership level at that point
MVT also lead the discussion on the format of the Club Tournament for next year. It was agreed that the precise format of the tournament be left to MVT’s discretion, but that for any came the time control could be shortened by mutual agreement between the two players.
Rapidplay tournaments would be arranged for 21st September and 14th December
Election of committee: It was agreed that the committee for the following season would be:
Gordon Clarke – President and co-opted to Committee
Alistair Clark – Secretary
Graham Kershaw – First Team Captain and Publicity Officer
Martin Van Tol – Second Team Captain (or 2nd NCCL team captain, depending on next year’s programme), Treasurer and Tournament Organiser
Simon Moth – North Circular Team Captain
Kevin Bowmer – Chairman and Webmaster

SM confirmed that he would arrange the fixtures for both the Essex League and NCCL matched
KB advised that he would be representing England in the over-50s tournament in Dresden
