Voicing
Voicing is telepathical contact between two different species. It is most noted in humans, gryphons, and yes dragons. No this is not some Anne McCaffrey or Christopher Paolini imitation, it happens on Kelvieta as well.
Reasons for Use
Voicing is used between humans and gryphons because although gryphons can talk in the human language, they usually have really thick accents that are hard to understand. They prefer to avoid confusion altogether, and send a clear message to the recipient's mind. Of course, this takes some getting used to, telling apart one's own thoughts from the gryphon's. Gryphons usually only voice to their human partners or other gryphons though, as they can only tolerate so many people.
In the dragon-human relationship, the dragon listens to their partner's thoughts, never quite adding their own insight. This "submissive" behavior is due to the way in which dragons choose partners, they will choose one that has a good mind, and good goals.
Voicing is also noted in greipers, but it is not the greipers themselves sending out messages, they merely act as "carriers" for voicings between two members of the same species. This method of communication isn't used often, as not many have greiper companions. Of course, the Eastern Caverns are chock full of greipers, so this voicing is common there.
