Kelly's Nanny Service

Highly qualified, caring, professional

Welcome

My name is Kelly Avery and I provide a Nanny service to the northern Brisbane suburbs. I am highly qualified and experienced in the childcare industry. I have worked with children in Child Care Centres, Family Day Care and as a Nanny since 1990. I have a son Mitchell, who is 16 years old and a daughter Chantelle, who is 12 years old. I

I worked with children for several years before deciding, after the birth of my daughter, to gain recognised qualifications for the career path I had always intended on taking.

I began as an Assistant in Child Care Centres between Townsville and Browns Plains, before settling at Kallangur and continuing with the Diploma and Advanced Diploma, working as a Group Leader, Assistant Director and Director.

I then diverted slightly, believing I had extensive knowledge and experience I could share with other people like myself, who seeked the pleasure of working with children on a daily basis. I gained a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training to train and assess people in studying for their qualifications.

I currently work as a Trainer and Assessor, training Child Care staff to gain a Nationally Recognised Qualification in the administration of adrenalin in the event of an Anaphylaxis reaction.

Kelly's Philosophy

I believe it is necessary for children to be in a warm, caring and friendly environment that captures their interests and needs with appropriate developmental challenges and experiences. An environment where parents and families can ensure their child is receiving the highest quality care available and their participation is highly respected and appreciated, as this provides a “team” effort between carers and parents/families in holistically caring for the child.

Most important to the child’s needs is for them to be in an environment which provides fun, as this is the ingredient that attracts children to participate in their own individual learning program. This provides the best learning challenges for children to acquire new skills and enhance existing ones.

Kelly's Personal Touch

Prior to caring for your child/ren, I meet the parent/s and child/ren briefly (approx. 1/2 hour) in your home to enable a relationship to develop through getting to know each other. This allows your children (and parents) to feel safe and secure with me and to be familiar to them the first time I care for them.

At this time, parents are welcome (and encouraged) to view my portfolio, qualifications, references, blue card (police check) etc. and ask questions.

Parents are able to inform me of any medical conditions, medications required, special needs, allergies etc. that their child/ren may have.

I will observe your child and ascertain their individual skills which will enable me to include developmentally age appropriate activities into their daily routine. Some examples of activities for each developmental area include:

  • Language
    • Story books
    • Music and movement
    • Puppets
  • Physical
    • Gross motor (Outdoor activities - Climbing, running, kicking a ball etc.)
    • Fine motor (Playdough, collage, goop play etc)
  • Social/Emotional
    • Self-Confidence building games/activities
  • Cognitive
    • Multicultural awareness activities
    • Spacial awareness (Ostacle course, building a cubbyhouse, hide-n-seek etc.)
    • Measurement (Jugs, cups etc in bath at bathtime, building blocks etc.)
  • Creative
    • Painting
    • Collage
