Once an angel proudly serving the heavens, Sardurvial has fallen from grace and has sworn his allegiance to the ruler of hell. Now in this, the present day, he finds himself on the run and hiding amongst the people he’s reviled for so long to escape hells’ fury.

When I sat down to include this section on my web site, I wondered what the content would be and how I could give advice on it. I am, for the most part, a novelist and I have some experience in that field. That is where my passion has always been. But with the creation of SARDURVIAL DISSENTING, I became interested in the craft of screenwriting and the fantasy of seeing my story not only in someone's hands, but on the screen as well. I am, without question an amateur in this field but have found a love for it.

In the beginning, I knew nothing about the art of screenwriting. I began to search the racks in a local bookshop and stumbled on a book called the Screenwriter's Bible. Just flipping through the pages, I could see it had a wealth of information from the basics to advanced level. Though I have learned a great deal in the year and a half I've been studying the field, I am still learning and constantly updating my screenplay, using the Screenwriter's Bible as my constant resource of information. Get the book.

Further down the page, you will find 2 sample pages from my screenplay. Read it and use it as a guide to start your own. If you are a screenwriter, send me feedback on what you've read, I could always make use of what you have to say. At this current moment in time, I am searching for an independent film producer (New York area) or anyone that might be interested in working on this project with me. My contact information is listed below.

Also, if anyone is interested in starting a discussion group, please contact me. Networking is the best way to get projects recognized.

FADE IN:

EXT. FRONT OF QUEENS APARTMENT BUILDING - NIGHT

New York City.  Fall season.  Papers rustling in the street gutters are carried away by a strong wind.  Stately stairs with iron rails ascend and descend in the front of the apartment complex.  The stairwell is eerily dark.

SARDURVIAL (O.S.)

(groans of pain)

In the

STAIRWELL

SARDURVIAL is shrouded by darkness and is tattered and bloody.  He moves slowly from his back to his knees, baring his teeth as he fights through pain.

Unsteadily, he reaches his hands outwards and interlaces his blood caked fingers.  Resting his forehead on his clenched fists, he SIGHS and tears fill his eyes.

Looking heavenward he reaches upward to grab hold of the unseen.

SARDURVIAL

Please, Father, forgive me for the things I've done.  I no longer wish to walk with the wicked!

Sardurvial falls to his side and curls into the fetal position.

SARDURVIAL (CONT'D)

(wincing)

I am in desperate need of your help, Heavenly Father, please help me . . .

INT. HOSPITAL RECOVERY WARD - NIGHT

NURSE FAYE stiffly walks to an occupied bed in the rear of the room and bends slowly to retrieve the patients record chart hanging on the footboard.  GROANING in agony, she pauses and grabs her lower back.

 2

After gathering herself, she carefully moves beside the patient and puts on a pair of latex gloves.  She takes the patients blood pressure, administers a needle into the IV bag and signs the chart before returning it to its proper place.

Walking to a hazardous box mounted on the wall, she looks at the needle . . .

FAYE

(wincing)

I sure could use one of these for myself...

. . . and disposes of it.  She pulls the gloves off and tosses them into the trashcan.

INTERCOM (V.O.)

Nurse Faye, you have a phone call on line six.  Nurse Faye, line six.

Faye leaves the room and continues to stiffly walk towards the

NURSE’S STATION

Where CLAIRE is sitting behind the desk working behind the bright aura of a computer screen.  Her eyes don’t move from the screen.

CLAIRE

Pick up line six, it's your sister.

FAYE

(batting her eyes)

Well I know it isn't Prince Charming calling for me.

Claire looks over the computer screen and stares at Faye.  She smiles, shakes her head and returns her attention to the screen.

Faye presses the button on the phone and picks up the receiver.

INTERCUT TELEPHONE CONVERSATION - FAYE AND MEGAN
