here i will be showing the livebearers i keep and some information about them, conditions, feeding, breeding, etc.
Below are a few pics of the endlers i'm breeding at the moment.
endlers come from a specific area of Venezuela, the Laguna de los Patos in northeastern Venezuela.
they are in the family poecilia and are a close relative of the guppy, they will easily hybridize with guppies so should be kept apart unless you are trying for a specific hybrid colour and/or pattern.
they attain a size of no more than 25 mm for the male and 35mm for the females. males carry the colour and most females are an olive green.
breeding is easy, just keep them well fed and the water in good condition and they will breed, keep some surface cover for the fry as some endlers will try and eat their fry, but this is usually a quick chase and then they give up. best to keep a higher ratio of females to males as the males are very persistent and can harass females to death.
the albino, snakeskin and gold snakeskin in the pictures are hybrids specifically developed for their fantastic colours and patterns. the albino and snakeskins are breeding true and have dome for many generations, the gold snakeskins i am at present, with a friend of mine, developing, but have a way to go before they are breeding true.
the white peacocks are wild strain pure endlers.
they are fed a variety of foods inc good quality flake, live foods, high protein granules, frozen foods and veg.
my ph is about 7.6 but can be higher and temp is around 78F.
