World Hunger Poor nations are experiencing hunger not because they do not have access to food supplies but because they cannot afford it. Increase of food production will not reduce poverty.	HIV and AIDS 95% of the people living with HIV/AIDS live in third world countries that are already struggling with unjust trade, disastrous debt, and unprofitable and insufficient aid.	Trade Justice Millions of people are stuck in the trade trap. No matter how hard they work, they earn less every year. Half the world's population now lives on less than $2 a day

Child Poverty One in ten children in the developing world die before their fifth birthday. The diseases they suffer from differ. But the cause is almost always the same. Poverty.	Corruption Corruption is a major cause and result of poverty around the world, at all levels of society, from governments, civil society, judiciary functions, military and other services and so on.	Inequality Inequality is increasing around the world. Even the wealthiest nation has the largest gap between rich and poor compared to other developed nations.

WHAT IS POVERTY?

Poverty is hunger. Poverty is lack of shelter. Poverty is being sick and not being able to see a doctor. Poverty is not having access to school and not knowing how to read. Poverty is not having a job, is fear for the future, living one day at a time. Poverty is losing a child to illness brought about by unclean water. Poverty is powerlessness, lack of representation and freedom. Poverty has many faces, changing from place to place and across time.
