Terry High School Tennis


Coach K. Orr brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the Bulldog tennis team.  Prior to accepting the position at Terry, he guided Siwell Middle School to a 2-3 record in 2001.  In 2002, Coach Orr guided a very talented Powell Middle School tennis team to an undefeated season with a 5-0 record.  The following year, the Powell tennis team would finish with a 3-1 record.  Finally in 2004, the Trojan netters finished with another 5-0 record.  A 1995 graduate of Murrah High School, Coach Orr was the first four-year letterman in the history of Murrah tennis.  He was the MVP of the 1992 team becoming one of two players from that team to qualify for the 5A state tournament.  In 1994, Coach Orr was a JPS Tournament mixed doubles finalist and finished with a record of 10-5.  In 1995, the Murrah tennis team won the overall JPS Tournament.  Coach Orr attended Mississippi Valley State University on a football-tennis scholarship.  He was a 2-year starter at punter for the Delta Devils.  He garnered most of his success on the tennis court.  In 1996, Coach Orr was voted Newcomer of the Year for the Delta Devil tennis team.  He won the Most Valuable Player award in 1998 and 1999.  As a player, Coach Orr enjoyed his best year in 2004 when he won the Cascades Racquet Club Spring Invitational 3.5 singles championship, the Battlefield Memorial Park Tournament 3.5 singles championship, and the Battlefield Memorial Park Tournament 4.0 consolation singles championship.  Aside from tennis coaching duties, Coach Orr teaches English I and is the head coach for the boys' soccer team at Terry High.

The Terry Tennis Team competes in MHSAA's Divison 6 Class 5A along with Jim Hill, Natchez, and Wingfield.

The Terry Tennis Team made history this year by winning its first ever Division 6-5A team championship.  Along the way, the team completed a winning season and captured 5 of 7 individual division championships.  Winning individual titles were Austin Sartin at boys singles, Toya Williams at girls singles, Bryan Tucker and Wesley Berry at no. 1 boys doubles, Jeremy Williams and Ryan Weaver at no. 2 boys doubles, and Candace Hare and Landon McDonald at mixed doubles.
