Kincardineshire FreeCEN

Welcome to the home page for the Kincardineshire Free Census Project. This project is part of the UK Free Census Project (FreeCEN). For more information on this project and how to get involved, please read the Project FAQ.

Uploaded returns can be searched in the FreeCEN database.

If you are interested in helping with another county or parish in Scotland, please see the FreeCEN Scotland Website.

You do not have to be based in the UK to participate in this project. To volunteer all you need is access to a computer with a spreadsheet program. You will also require either software to view jpg images or access to a microfiche or microfilm reader, as census images can be supplied either on microfilm or as jpg images on CD.

The 1851 Census for Kincardineshire is now complete and online. This is entirely due to the sterling efforts of the volunteers. Thank you and well done to transcribers Brandy, Carol, Cath, Don, Isobel, Joan and Peter and to checkers Joan, Margaret and Peter.

We regret that The Kincardineshire Free Census project is on hold indefinitely. We borrowed our media from the Family Search – Record Services and they will no longer lend to outside projects. If you have a post-1851 census transcription for any Kincardineshire parish which you would like to donate then we would be happy to put it online. Please contact me, .
